  • I had the same problem when I got my Hero, the fix was to log into the google account when you set up the phone whereas I had tried to register/sign in when I'd gone through the initial set up.

So I did a factory reset, went through the setup again and it worked.

    Hope this helps?

Thanks for this. I was fearing that I would need to do a factory restore, can I do this via the phone or does it need to be connect to Kies? As I also can't connect to Kies.

I will do the factory reset (if possible), if that don't work then I will take it back to the Shop.

I don't have a reply on the XDA forums either.

basically you have to do a factory reset, by going to settings then privacy then factory reset and that will reset your phone! If after reset it doesnt work send the phone to repair/replace it

Market place is now working, however still cannot connect to laptop or Kies to update firmware.

Think it's a driver problem as it says driver was not installed properly, however I have tried this on three different laptops and it's the same on them all.

    I keep getting:

Device Driver software was not successfully installed.

Please consult your device manufacturer for assistance in getting this device installed.

Bluetooth peripheral device Driver not found

I am running Windows 7 64 bit home premium.

I have uninstalled Kies and re-installed.

    Any suggestions.

Similarly I have XP Pro on my main pc & Kies will not even start & yet on my laptop running XP Pro it works fine :(
  • Sounds like there are problems with Kies when running 64 bit Windows.

    A quick google found this - http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-391471-problems-with-the-wave-and-kies-windows-7 with a possible solution;
I've just solved a similar issue with Kies - it works fine under Windows 7 ONLY UNDER ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS! Just set "Launch with administrator rights" at Compatibility tab of the Kies shortcut properties, and everything is OK!

    Might be worth a shot...

Thanks, I will try it tonight when my daughter gets home from school. Although, I'm not to confident.

I have tried on 4 different laptop/netbooks now.

My laptop running Windows 7 64 bit, my old laptop running vista, my daughters net book running Windows 7 basic and wifes netbook running XP.

Got closest to a connection on the wifes XP netbook, where it actually recognised the connection, but then froze. Had to restart and it then came up with driver not installed properly.
