Not sure if this is the right thread but I am trying to plan ahead and have bought a joint of pork at half price but it is huge. Am going to cook it all at once for a roast on sun (for 5 adults) but there will be enought left over for another family meal, but short of pork sandwiches really don't know what to do with it - any suggestions?
i made a pork roast during the week and made the leftovers into pie yesterday it was lovely, but i shopped it ip really fine with my chopper it was lovelyDEC GC £463.67/£450

When I make meatballs I always do a half-half mix of beef and pork, so when I have cold roast leftovers I chop it up small and mix it with fresh meat of the other kind (often use peeled sausages with beef roast). .Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -

This morning, looked at my diary, worked out what I had left, did my list, planned my shop online to see where best value, shopped, came home and then realised I had been carrying the wrong figure forward so hence I have actually already overspent (my month runs to the 19th so only a week left). I feel really deflated. Although my freezer is full and I probably now have enough meals in the house to get through a few weeks would have just liked to have been able to record that I DID IT!! Moan over, feel strangely better for off loading.
Aww, now come on AlwaysHappy you have not failed. It was a simple mistake which will sort itself out in the long run. As you say, you have loads of food in so the budget will right itself. You were the last person I thought I'd need to quote this back to  but keep repeating: "I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I tried!"
One of the best signature quotes I have read. :THippeechiq wrote: »... Having a really, really awful time with my daughter at the moment - or should I say my poor daughter is having a truly awful time and I'm just watching her go through the hell that each new day brings her. Doing my best (and it seems mostly, failing) to comfort her. I wouldn't wish Mental Illness on my worst enemy. It's soul destroying to watch your child in so much distress. I feel physically and mentally exhuasted
I'm sorry to hear you're not well Spiggs and require further tests and a CT Scan. Am sending positive thoughts your way hun :grouphug: How is hubby getting on cycling to work? Has he had to use a different route or has he managed to overcome his fear of using the old one after his accident?
... Anyway - let's not be downhearted at how well we aren't doing. At least we're tryingand that's the main thing.
Oh Hippeechiq, I'm so sorry your daughter is having such a hard time. I can't imagine how tough it must be for you as her Mum seeing her in distress. All my best thoughts are with you and sending you hugs. :grouphug:
Thanks for your positive vibes too. I'm angry really more than anything as I'm watching my daughter and OH worrying themselves silly and I know I'm ok. Suppose I have to jump through the hoops though to prove to them that I am. Ah well, these things are sent to try us.
Right an update. I popped into MrT on the way home yesterday for only one thing and came out with said one thing. :T I discovered last week that they had the 12 pack boxes of Elev*ns*s bars on at the same price as the 6 pk boxes. Now last week it was fantastic 'cos they also had them on at B2G1F. That's 36 bars for £4.58. Yesterday I only popped in to check and although the offer had finished they were still marked at the same price as the 6 packs. Crazy but I still got three boxes. My DD, GD and I love these and I have one for brekkie in work everyday with a nana. So this stock up will keep us going for ages on what is, I admit, an expensive treat.
Today I had to visit the [STRIKE]vampires [/STRIKE] sorry phlebotomist at my surgery and OH came with me. Then I went with him for a change to get our shopping. Usually I wait in the car. It was lovely. Met a friend I hadn't seen in ages and really enjoyed the experience of getting the different things from the different independent shops.
I even verntured into B*M which I've avoided since it opened (mainly because the last time I was in that building was a day or two before the Woolies closed and I came out bawling my eyes out!). We got a few things in there that were cheap but not that cheap I don't think. Anyway, on then to the deli, s*p*rdr*g, the grocers and the butchers and having a little bit of a window shop too. The sun was just about out and it was really nice. Sort of reminded me how nice my town is.
Anyway just under £35 today and £6.87 yesterday both of which have been added to my sig along with 4 NSD.
OH is making a sort of lamb hotpot type thing for tomorrow before the rugby and tomorrow he's going to make the beef crumble for Sunday. Hmmmm, can't wait!
Ok, think I'm going to have a quick browse of the boards again and then off to watch the goggle box.
Keep up the good work everyone, we're doing great together! :T
All the best and take care,

Hi Everybody
Had a mean shop this week (needed to after last weeks spend). Might just - with some care make it in budget to end of month? Fingersxed!! Gettin mega gd at using food up, although i have neva been one to waste food, i,m gettin quite brave and inventive0 -
Well stocked up on Fruit, veg & milk etc today so monthly figure is now £119.49/£175 so should be able to make it to the end of the month as freezer is bulging with lots of meals from slow cooker. Also from DDs cooking sessions (25 cheese scones made by DD2 (age 6) as she wanted to double the quantities. More cooking with them tomorrow - I think they want to do cranberry cookies & flpjacks - it keeps their sandwich boxes interesting if they have made it themselves.
