Thanks for that My Definition. I'll go in tomorrow!

That price more or less makes my mind up for me. :)

    Hello,

I am looking into getting a Wildfire today, on contract.
It is a bit bamboozling, but cheapest I seem to have found it this:

    http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/show.asp?adv=&man=HTC&price=&network=&mins=100&texts=150&lr=&contract=&gift=&sortby=

(It is mobiles 4 everyone, but it wont let me post the link!)
Part way done, a T-Mobile deal is £20.42 per month, but with cashback, the total cost for the 18month contract is £163, plus you get the texts and calls.

My Wife's contract is with T-Mobile and they have been great repairing her phone for free - I thought we were out of contract with them.

I know cashback deals are a bit of a pain - Martin does a good article here:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/mobile-phone-cost-cutting

    Plus there is Quidco etc.

I would welcome if anyone can find a better deal?
    I only use 80mins and 150 text a month.

    Hello,

I have ended up going for this deal with buymobilephones.net, through Quidco:

£15.32 a month, 24 months, free HTC Wildfire phone, 300 mins, 300 text, unlimited internet, £40 automatic cashback, and £30 cashback from Quidco.

There was an offer for the same per month, but only 100 mins and 100 text per month, but £50 automatic cashback.

That price more or less makes my mind up for me. :)

That was precisely my reason for going for the wildfire....the more I use it the more I like it. It's bog standard smartphone size with a 2gb memory card in it.

Like today I discovered my internet mag I'd had an awful time trying to read on my kindle I can read with almost ease on the wildfire...and it's easy to shove on there too...No conversion needed...

Plus I have heaps of books for the kindle (all which had to be converted into kindle format ) and the wildfire reads pdf's like a dream :)...so that can go and be resold...

The camera is ok. I don't know...it's 5mp...I think that should be fine for most folks needs.

I also got Adobe Photoshop Express though free off Marketplace and that's a fab little photo editing suite for the wildfire...

and a few other things to tweak the battery life like APN droid (makes it easy to switch off the 3g and I had a nasty run in with someone hacking my home wifi the other month so unless I'm somewhere where there's free wifi I really 'aint interested) and Advanced Task Killer (both free and easy to operate. So therefore rather than get a day or less battery life out of the wildfire I can now double that...no sweat...

I know the desire is a lot superior phone. I'm not dissing that...just the price which is WAY out of my budget...get the wildfire on offer and you're a winner :T....I would never have considered it if I hadn't seen it advertised in P4U....I know I didn't pay the o2 price (I paid £20 more) but even then I think I got a tad of a bargain.....

    E
PS. One final plus - in the words of a guy about to retire @ the crisis line ...the wildfire has a 'cracking' radio...any cheap headphones will do...and really good GUI on the radio too :)

  • If your still choosing, definitly go for the Desire because its much faster and better than the wildfire unless you hate large phones or doing anything else other than making phone calls, this is because the desire has a faster cpu, more ram and better graphics for games and apps, like some otehrs have said some apps dont even run on the wildfire and playing a game like angry birds would cause the game to lag. And I think the cost of the phone on contract has just been reduced after christmas

I don't play games or watch movies, I also don't want a contract, so the cost of the Desire doesn't make sense for me.

I want to be able to see Facebook, Twitter and the WeightWatchers app (when it's released for Android). I make about 10 mins of calls a month and send about 20 texts a month. The Wildfire will suit me I think.

That's not to say if the Desire wasn't a couple of hundred pounds cheaper, I woudn't buy it instead.

Precisely my point Pimento...for PAYG the desire is way over priced and I'm not paying £600 on my contract for a phone...simply just not doing it...

    re e-books

PDF okay but not fab - other books need to be in epub but perfectly readable...Kindle I loved you dearly but it's time for us to part...Also the kindle app for android is free so if you do need/have kindle books it's easy to transfer

And correct me if I'm wrong but the Desire runs on Windows 7....hardly the most secure platform....would rather have my wee 'slow' wildfire and linux..
