  • I love my wildfire, it has sat nav on - helped me get out of the NEC complex when i got lost oops!, Yes it is slower than the desire but size wise as others have said the wildfire fits nicely in my pocket the desire was just to big. I suppose its up to you what you want to use the phone for and as you have said go and have a looksie and see what they feel like.

thanks for that, yeah i hope to get out and about today and have a look see, Desire versus Wildfire let battle commence.

For what it costs to have a desire on 24 months contract, when i have a perfectly good Tesco £10 month contract all ready, i may even get my "new" phone as Sim Free/unlocked, we shall see

How much are they charging you for the desire out of curiosity? I think I paid £150 for my wildfire though you can get it lower...

Thanks Erme (i missed notification of your post), i am currently on a £10 a month contract at Tesco which gives me all i want, so first off i was thinking of a wildfire as a Tesco PAYG at £160, but now i am looking at a Sim Free Desire, which would be about £340 !!!!!, all this, and i havent touched one yet !!!!.

I will definitely try and get to a Phone shop today and have some hands on, beore i part with anything.

A week or two ago i wasnt bothered about internet on the phone at all, but i got the Tesco Sim card for £10 a month, 500 mins, unlimited texts, which was all i wanted really, but it also came with 500mb internet, i didnt even know my phone (nokia 2700) could get the internet, which is ok, but it so slow and the screen is so small, that i yearn for something far better, Wildfire or Desire seem to fit the bill nicely and Sat Nav included, cant be bad. especially if the missus doesnt know how much it is LOL.

both phones the desire and galaxy s are good, the galaxy s is much faster than the desire. The user interface is better on the desire but i use launcher pro instead of samsungs stock ui as i find it much more customisable.

If you find it cheap, let me know.

I nearly bought a wildfire today in 3. I make few calls and send hardly any texts but I want enough internet to be able to surf without fear. 3 do a SIM only deal for £10 a month with 100 mins 3000 texts and 1Gb internet. On a one month contract.

I nearly went for the £5 a month deal of no calls/texts and 1Gb internet but I do make the odd call.

The phone is £190 (Wildfire) but a Desire is nearly £400! I can't afford that.

I found a Sim Free HTC desire for £335 free delivery. does that help ?

I think my top budget is £275. I think I'll have to wait for the price to come down for a few months. Might buy the Wildfire now and if I keep it nice, sell it when the desire price falls.

    I don't need 500 mins, but I will definitely need 1Gb data.

I shall maybe have to post in May when contract is up for best SIM only deal. Want it no more than ideally £10 tops....ultimate max= £15 (but that's a little overbudget)....need 300 mins (do use them - most of my friends only have mobiles), 3K texts and min 500mb if not 1gb internet and a good place to unlock the wildfire from voda (baring in mind currently it's a PAYG)...
