The buffet in the splash landing hotel flamingo bar ( think that was what it was called) consisted of broccoli & stilton soup with roll, continental cold meats, fish - prawns etc. chili con carne, spare ribs, spicy chicken legs, noodles, stir fry, carvery pork roast, mixed veg - carrots, baby sweetcorn and french beans, casserole, rice, spicy meat, curry, chips, burgers, profiteroles, chocolate fountain with turkish delight, marshmallows, strawberries, fruit sponge dessert and various ice creams.
We stopped at A Towers hotel on Friday and Splash Landings last night.
Yes, the bedrooms were definately smaller in splash landings but our bathroom was cleaner. It also, had a more relaxed feel and the staff volunteered a lot more info. without prompting. As an adult I preferred the more formal feel of AT but Splash Landings was handy for Caribbea Creak and the kids liked the bright colours. The kids had a goody bag in splash landings rooms and there were a few extras with AT, tissues, iron and board, bigger beds. Hope this helps. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
got some conflicting information from AT regarding the £5 (parent and todlder upto 4years old ) special offer for the carriba creek.
family consists of 2 adults and 2 children (ages 3 and 5). phoned up to book one £5 (for mum and son) ticket and 2x£8 normal tickets(for me and the daughter). the nice lady says that if with parents any child under 6 can get in for the £5 price!!!!.. i did mention to her that it says only under 4 yr olds on the website...but she was adamant that she was right.
so booked 2 £5 tickets.
am now wondering. will i be in the embarrasing position of being refused entry when we get their??
any ideas on what to do?0 -
hi we were there the weekend and the parent and toddler price posters state children up to the age of 6 ! you have to swim outside its fantastic - the water is hot and steams but your hair is freezing weird feeling !
had a fantastic 2 nights in splash landings ! stayed in AT hotel a couple of weeks ago when the deal started and that was great too but the kids prefered the splash landings hotel more relaxed - the disco is better in the AT hotel thats the only thing ! we moved from the disco at midnight when it finished and the dj said that the splash landings disco was on until 2am so we went accross there to find that a cd had been left playing ! (not good) hi to all that were there on friday and saturday !0 -
thanx for that risky.0

Got back today...hotel isn't closing on Dec 6th. Noticed that the Blacksmiths Arms in Alton is doing 2-4-1 on meals but only Friday. Bulls Head has £7.95 steak night on Wednesday. We couldn't book cariba creek tickets yesterday for today at £8 but we only asked at pool, not at reception. Enjoyed our stay...had family room though I'm sure we booked double.0

I've not really had time since we came back to give a report on our stay - so 'ere it is now!
We went last Thursday (30/11), arrived about 8pm at the Alton Towers Hotel. No queuing for checkin, but when we got into it they couldn't find my booking! As has been said before on here, I think anything but the standard booking throws them as I had booked the Friday Night orginally and then extended it to Thursday night. Eventually after 20 minutes they set us up with a room. Not convinced they did find my booking, I think it wasn't busy so they just added me on so they didn't get any hassle! Loaded the room card and off we went! 5 minutes later, and OH and myself wanting to kick the door in, we had to go back and ask for some help on how to work the door cards. How embarrasing!
Once instead, and having done the customary tour of the family room, we went into the bar for a drink. It was a nice atmosphere Thursday Night, although if your on a budget 2 drinks worked out around £6. (£3.10 a pint, but whatever rubbish the OH had!). I will probably never know, but I'm guessing that the group playing poker in the bar was from MSE ... lol.
Next morning, we munched on items we had bought from Sainsburys on the way up and headed to the waterpark for about 10.30. Couldn't believe the heat of the park as you use the walkway between the AT hotel and the waterpark. Gave the waterpark our prebooked reference numbers, no problems this time thankfully, and made our way in. I thought the waterpark was lovely. Highly recommended. Spent about 3 hours in there initially. Not all the rides were open that early in the morning, but by 12pm ish the whole park was open. Lots of littleuns in the shallow areas with parents. Got out about 1ish, and would love to recommend to AT to put some heating on in the changing areas as the difference between the v.hot park and the changing areas is quite extreme! VERY COLD!!!
Popped to Uttoxeter for lunch. Wouldn't recommend anyone else doing the same. Uttoxeter was very disappointing (and the pasty from Greggs was disgusting and cold!).
For evening meal, my personal recommendations would be the Bulls Head in Alton, which is signposted. Around £7-£8 a meal, £3.50 for dessert. The food was delicious, the restaurant area was nice and the service was excellent. They even undercharged us by missing 2 drinks off the bill (OH insisted we told them - and I didn't mind as it was a v.nice meal!)
After the meal, we were just too tired to do anything else and by 11pm we were both tucked up fast asleep. Thats the magic of Alton Towers for you!0 -
Does anyone know if they will be doing this offer in January?0

Hello
We've just got back. We arrived late Thursday - rooms okay but we haven't had any goody bags since the first year we went. My parents came the next day so that we could go in the pool - children 1, 3 and 5! We were told we couldn't have toddler tickets as we would be in the pool after 1pm!
Unfortunately my parents never got to stay the night due to a very unexpected death in the family, and had to dash back home. This meant we couldn't use our pre-booked tickets for the Water Pool - but they gave us vouchers to use in the next 6 months.
We bought breakfast - it was expensive for our 5 year old who ate nothing and the sausages were horrible. Bacon was nice!
Just had to add - that there was a Fire alarm - we were asleep eventhough it was just before midnight. Do they do one every other night or are we just unlucky? It was a mess - it was raining - the only member of staff we saw didn't know what to do. We didn't know where to go once we left the building -it was a shambles and dark. Three children - all three with no clothes on drapped in duvets.
What a great birthday that was! Oh well - we'll look for a deal in January and try again. It was still a cheap break.
Perhaps next year we'll save up for the Santa Sleepover Special.
