  • I haven't booked yet, but we were thinking of a Fri + Sat. night stay also.
But you are worrying me now, which Saturday(s) is the waterpark closed?
Doesn't seem to say any here:

Hi guys, I have booked a night on the 25th November for £10, great bargain. Theres lots of talk on this thread about the water park but i wondered if anyone has booked or has used the Spa? If anyone has used it i'd be interested to hear your opinions, its just me and the wife going so I'm not sure how long we would be staying in the park for.

thanks to the original person who posted this info! Its a great offer that i have passed onto a few friends..

  • Clify, Thanks for the thanks!!!

I went to the hotel over August BH. We spent about 2 hours in the Spa and I must say I thought I would be bored to death. But I did actually enjoy it, it was really relaxing. The relaxation room was really good, along with all the spa rooms. We did not have any treatments but from what I have heard they again are good value. The wife has been to the Spa at the Belfry and she thought it was easily on par with that. (The Belfry is much more expensive)

Money wise Alton Towers was very well priced. You can pre book on the net and I think you get a discount like you do with the Waterpark.

    Hope this helps
We took on Mr T and we won:D

Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now

Yes, toast's no problem. It takes about 15 minutes per slice, so we're expecting quite a queue to form!!

It'd be nice to see other MSE'rs there. Don't forget to wear your badges!!
    HM of course.....

Heya soba, spotted your camper van in the car park yesterday and someone sitting inside it probably cooking yourself some tea :D

You parked opposite our room in the hotel so we noticed that you left quite early. Was that purple VW bug yours aswell ?

Did your TV have a mind of it own with almost all of the interactive menu functions failing to work ? Movies didnt seem to work either !!

And we managed to blow the fuse for the lights at 8am this morning too :D

We went out for our tea trying to find places like mcdonalds and little chefs. My advice for anyone else looking for fast food joints is do not rely on a sat nav device to get you there, travelling down single track roads in the pitch black, up and down hills is not fun at all.
My advice is to turn LEFT out of the park and follow the road until you get back into civilisation, going right just takes you into nowhere !!!

Still we enjoyed our stay :)

I took my daughter to the theme park a few weeks ago and it said M1 North turn right so I did..I know all about that country road..It was pitch black and I was praying I didn't break down with my daughter...Took twice as long too to find the motorway...Turn left is my advise for when you go ha ha

Many many thanks to the original poster.
We have been to the Hotel for the last few years at Christmas on the special deals.
I really wanted to go on the Santa sleepover - but the cheapest for us was £349 - as we have to take grandparents or else we can't go into the pool. Children are 1,3 and 5. I can't justify that even though you get all meals, pool entry and the show. But we can justify £140 - for 2 nights for 4 adults and three children! We're going to go after school on the Thursday and in the pool on friday and sat. was told we couldn't have the fiver toddler pool ticket on friday - but can't moan!
Oh and one of the children has to miss school on Friday. I don't work on Fridays and my partner is a house hubbie and grandparents are retired. So all round a bargain. Plus it's my birthday on the 8th Dec. We will probably see some of you there - our car will be loaded with Friday breakie and lunch picnic, out for pizza in leek Friday night and back via the local co-op for Sat breakfast and munchies for the Saturday.
Oh I am so excited you wouldn't believe.
I love nights away and I do like Alton Towers hotels. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Splash Landings but we've stayed in the AT side and that's okay.
Not sure I should say this out loud - but between the hotels is a 'kitchen' area for families / a family laundry room sort of thing. See you all there and we can have our own party!

We'll see you there on the 8th. We can have an MSE'ers special Christmas party in the kitchen room. Don't forget to bring plenty of lovely wine!!!

Hiya rthirlby, you should have come out to say hello! No, the beetle wasn't ours, we've had to draw the line at one VW in the family!
We went out to find somewhere for tea, but ended up coming back to the hotel and eating there:eek:
Thursday morning we went 'geocaching' so we had sausage oatcakes cooked in the camper. For lunch we went to the Windy Ridge cafe, it was recommended on this thread, and I can second that recommendation. OH had liver and onions and I had ham, eggs and chips, very filling, it was lovely. A nice clean cafe with friendly staff (and no, I'm not connected in any way). The original Windy Ridge post said it was about 3 miles away, but it's actually 6 miles.
We went to the waterpark today - £8 each. It was fantastic, we went in at 10am and it was deserted, we had the place virtually to ourselves. DH and myself enjoyed it and the kids thought it was fab. We spent 3 1/2 hours in there!
There's not a great deal to do at night, and it's expensive to drink in the hotel, but take a couple of tinnies to your room and you'll be fine. We were so tired last night we were all in bed by 10.30 anyway.
A special treat when we got there was seeing a helicopter land right next to the car park we were on, then thinking we might meet someone famous, cos we parked next to a car parking space reserved for Peter Sissons - we never saw anybody though!
We did bump into Mamabear and her family. They're braving the naturists until Sunday - so good luck to her and her family!
I can highly recommend the Alton Towers experience, you'll have a whale of a time:smiley:

    Hello
Last year we went a couple of days before Christmas.
It was a lovely clear night and the stars were brilliant - being as it's in the middle of nowhere with no light pollution. The reason we know is because there was a fire alarm at 2am and we had to walk a mile around the building only to end up just down the corridor from our room. Fire engines turned up - we then couldn't sleep.
    Drinks
We went along to the family disco think that was two years ago - at one point they do a children's trasure hunt and the children ran around collecting things beginning with 't' - one child turned up with beer cans and the entertainer said we don't sell these. The Dad just sat back and said no it was a lot cheaper than buying your own from the bar! So you wouldn't be the first smuggle in drink - this group just sat drinking their own - not sure if anything was said. Everyone just seemed really happy.
    Sarah
I'm very excited 2 nights away from home.
