    Can you sell your old car or scrap it to get some of the money back for you holidays. I beleive OH gets anywhere between £90 and £200 for his cars when he weighs them in after the race.

  • :wave::wave: hello

    I'm home :D we had a FABBBBBB fab time at Thriller! I was rocking and dancing the whole time lol :rotfl: the hotel was brill and right near to regent street so central :) and our free meal was brill too! However, we decided to get right in the spirit of not having kids, and blew a whole load of money :( big fat oops! We now have errrrrrrrrrr the grand sum of £50 to last us the month :o:o (plus our weekly child benefit & £70 tax credit....so approx £100 a week)

    DH bonus is delayed :mad: right when we needed it for holiday money (to replenish funds!) & my tenants are late paying rent (sounds familiar huh!) so we are owed from lots of sources around £3200!!! grr!

    We managed to scrap old car although have sneaking suspicion the scrap yard are going to do up and re-sell as they had LOTS of old scenics there that they could steal parts from and put in ours! Hmmm oh well we couldn't fix it so good luck to them! We got £300 for it so that was better than nothing :)

    We have until next friday to find holiday money (prob have to steal from the last savings accounts of school fees & landlord/home insurance!) and will need to use DH bonus to replenish as much as poss!

    I want to get food shop in this week for under £50 to last till monday so will be writing a list tomorrow and going ALONE! dh & ds are far too familiar with the old routine of throwing in everything and anything they fancy!

    I also need to get back on the diet wagon as i DREAD to think how much weight i put on :o:o i didn't have time to weigh in last friday as was DS2 birthday and we went out early to celebrate and no way was i weghing in after eating choc fudge cake pmsl :rotfl:

    anyway need to seriously look at budget tonight we really need to be tight this week so we can afford to do things for the rest of the hols...hopefully the weather will last and we can do lots of free picnics in parks lol

    Well enough from me am off to catch up on everyone's posts :D

    Hi really glad you had a good time spending the pennies saved! You did get quite a few bits so dont beat yourself up about it. Plus you have proved that you can save so just need to get back into it.

    We havent signed up with cccs as OH wants to wait and see still but as he wont have a job come 19th aug (scary) it may have to happen. He is still in the opinion that things will be ok but at least i know what to do should things go all wrong. We have one more pay day before he finishes so hopefully get things paid for and up to date. He is doing his hgv test soon as this is now paid for but could be anytime up to end of oct before he can be fitted in. I am sure the agencies will have work for him just not sure that their hourly rate will match his current employee. I am sure it will be fine or thats what i have to think or i may crack up.

    Aww bless ya hun lol, i crack up all the time thinking about money (and well, everything else :p) I hope everything will be ok for you, i guess it's all a fine balancing act really -always is here, just being frugal enough to make sure you have enough to tide you over until he gets regular work...but with the summer hols here i know for a fact i can't seem to save any money!!!

  • Hi Abba thanks for popping by :) the car is a dream to drive compared to the other one, which mostly would not start without me poking my head around inside the bonnet first and half electrocuting myself on the wires :eek:..it is smaller than what we had both leg room wise, seat size, and boot size....but we have a roof box now and also this is just our in between car so i keep reminding myself this lol

    I am going to work out my end of July figures for spends tonight, and also set a few targets for August although to be honest i'm not sure it's worth it lol as we are away 12-22nd in lake district and i have just organised to go straight from there to dad's house for around a week so won't be back till end of august! Hmmm is going to be expensive is what i'm thinking :eek:

    right be back when worked it all out ....!
