    Hi DFW321

Sounds like you've made some good changes so far and positive about it all.

Your DH sounds like mine with Sky we got rid of ours about 7 years ago but every so often DH hints about getting it again but I keep putting my foot down as I know it would mean that he would watch even more tv than usual (if thats at all possible)

The holiday sounds good, its really expensive to go abroad especially if you book through a travel agent. We often book flights, accomodation and car hire seperately and it works out loads cheaper, ok you don't get the benefits of a Holiday rep but we've travelled a far bit and aren't really fazed by sorting ouselves out.

I think the gist of stoozing is as follows

You have a 0% credit card which you transfer all your balances onto
You pay minimum payments only each month
Each month you transfer what you would be making in debt repayments to a high interest savings account and leave it there to accumulate interest
At the end of the 0% period you pay off the full balance of the credit card with the money that you've saved up and hopefully the money should have made a decent amount of interest which is yours to keep.

I may be wrong and I'm sure that someone will correct me if I am.

As for the camera situation, can you maybe raise the money through ebay or surveys and then pay more off your DMP? Or maybe get DH to donate half and then raise the money from ebay or surveys etc.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend xx
  • Sunday!

Well today I decided that the kids bedroom needed doing. We've only been on our house a year and half & the kids decided to draw all over their walls as soon as we had settled () so we went to homebase today and got some paint buy one get one half price. So I have magnolia to retouch the rest of the house and I bought a pink & a blue for their room and going to attempt to make it look nice again. Ended up spending £40 on paint, but we got 4 tins for that (and two were dulux) so thought that was good :)

Am going to be ruthless too and sort through toys and get rid of everything that is not played with. We have a nice 3 bed house but unfortunately it is groaning under the weight of 'stuff' we own! And to be honest none of it is ebay worthy most of it is books that dh and i have collected, dvd's, c.d's, soft toys (kids) & bit plastic toys (kids!!) it's a shame i won't make myself a millionaire with it lol but I'm going to get some of it down the dump (broken bits) and give some to charity & put some that i know will sell into an ebay pile. I don't think my house will ever be minimilistic (shame i envy houses that look clean & empty, must be so easy to clean) butI can try and get it a little easier to maintain lol.

We've decided not to put in for a house transfer yet (to a bigger home) as i'd like to be debt free, or at least have the budget under control before I get a house with even more rent! -would love a bigger garden though!

    So tomorrow my jobs are:
    *take kids to playgroup
*post office run for DS (ran out of ink cartridges)
    *run to the tip
    *run to the charity shop

Whilst I do those jobs with kids in hand, all DH has to do is paint one room, without developing tourettes, the need to scream or shout & sulk about DIY....do we think that is possible that he can do this?? No of course not. but at least after all these years I know what to expect....so tomorrow shall be fun, not. :rotfl:

    Hi Choo,

Someone else told me also to book flightds, transfers seperately but tbh i have always gone with someone who does it all as a package so that option worried me a little lol, which is why we are opting for haven instead, i can just about manage a transfer to lake district (i think )

As for the camera, i'd love a nice one so I think we will wait to see how much money we will have left after paying for the holiday in full, and also petrol etc and see if we have enough.

Thanks for explaining the stoozing...I thought it might be something like that but couldn't find an explanation anywhere lol....! Good option if you have 0% CC available to you! -I ran out of that option sometime last yr :o!!

Hi there :) i have spent most of today in between sorting my little ones out reading your whole diary. You have had plenty of ups and downs since you started but you seem to keep going. Think i would have given up a while back. I am struggling with my debts at the mo and OH spending over any budget i set! Like you he knows i come on this site but would be horrified if he knew i was telling complete strangers our business.

Keep up with the great money saving and i look forward to reading

  • Hi slm

Thanks for posting & well done for getting through all the diary ;) it's a bit all over the place (like me :rotfl:) I still haven't gotten up the courage to tell DH I have a diary on here he really would hit the roof and think that all his mates had seen or something?!

Fine example of DH not sticking to budget- yesterday he ordered a chinese (slapped wrists- no money in budget this month for take away) so when it arrived I made him put his hand in his pocket and pay out of his 'pocket money' :rotfl:he wasn't impressed but i think the point that we are 'poor' is finally getting across to him :D

look forward to chatting to you

Been to post office posted DS parcel- tick
took kids to play group - tick
went to Dr to order prescription - tick
    Cleaned kitchen after lunch- tick
been to tip- do I have to???

All done except the tip - hate going there! And you have to walk all your stuff up a ladder to throw it in a big skip thing and I always bloody trip and have lots of heavy stuff, but have set DH to painting kids room so he thinks he doesn't have to do any of the other jobs now (damn didn't plan that well)

would have been a NSD but had to buy a bubble wrap envelope type thingy & pay for stamps to send DS parcel...only spent £2 something though so will count as a LSD :D (will update sig in mo)

Right well the sun is out and it's blooming lovely out so i'm off to play (i mean tidy) in the garden ;)

I think you should get the camera, we all need a little treat from time to time.

I had a toy sort out, got the spare shower full of bags of toys that I wanna chuck but DH won't chuck if we can get a fiver for all the bags, he won't chuck them. So we are doing a bootie on bank holiday and got him to promise anything we dont sell can go to the chairty shop. This seemed to keep him happy lol.

Hi Lisa  thanks for popping by, I really missed having my camera when we went on a walk the other day (the one where we got lost in the woods haha) so I may just let DH get me one  I love taking pics of the kids & also scenery pics, wildlife etc and DH only has a cheapy one that doesn't seem to zoom so will have to shop around and see what we can get for our budget (thanks for posting though, nice to have someone on my side when i'm planning on spending lol)

I love bootfairs, but I hate doing them, so i ebay or sell on fb! Just threw out a load of stuff that would have been suitable for bootfairs, but not ebaying but i couldn't actually get into my shed for kids toys!!!
