Ahhh Zumba....well I'm not sure if the version I do of it would count as Zumba per se....but I sure get sweaty & knackered from only 20 mins of shaking my booty haha so it must be doing some good lol
Today was lovely blue skies....with a hint of tornado thrown in for good measure. F*ing freezing it was, we decided to go to the beach (free) & take snacks (free) and spend the afternoon wandering around and building sandcastles but we were literally blown back to the car about an hour after arriving lol so we spent most of the afternoon watching the tooth fairy on Sky (not quite free as we still have to pay for movies, but cheaper than blockb*ster where DH would rather have gone!)
So NSD 2/10 for me and we're only on May 1stdoing much better than last month already *phew*

feeling very disheartened, just been through my CCCS paperwork & actual statements from creditors and we so far seem to have accumulated about £500 worth of interest/debt/charges rather than actually paying them off. Only one creditor has actually put the interest to 0%, a few others said they would...and never did? I have 2 defaults and closed accounts & i keep getting monthly defaults & charges from my catalogues
. Have popped over to the DMP thread also to ask for info there but feeling very miserable thinking about it tbh. Esp seeing as though I was having a conversation with DH earlier and we would both love to buy a house...by the time we pay this off, save for a deposit we will prob knocking on for 50 ...which i feel is too late to start a 25 yr mortgage
very depressing!

Awww hun. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you will get there, just keep your dream house as a goal to aim for
Hang on... don't you already have a house? lol how many do you want!?I'm guessing that one was more of an investment than family home?
Zumba - you mean your not doing this?

Oh dear.... I just realised.... the little 'dance-with-pointy-fingers' smiley is actually how I dance now! Depressing lol :rotfl:

X
LOL :rotfl: yes you're right I do have a house, I forget this sometimes, as atm it's just a dead investment () hopefully the housing market will have a turn around though (pref in the middle of wales) and I will make my initial money + some more back and have a deposit for a house over hereI can't really see it happening anytime soon though lol
And just had a look at that video...yes that's the very sort of thing i am 'trying/aiming' to do :rotfl: i'm not very good yet though....and skipped it for 3 days now (slapped wrists) will get bk to it tomorrow i promise!
Today bought a new folder for my CCCS stuff as was getting too much for the little one i was originally using. Am going to write off more letters to send this week/next week and hopefully the creditors that have not stopped interest may do so (fingers crossed eh).
We also had a little walk round town today and popped into a few travel agents, feeling quite depressed at how much it costs to go on holiday these daysand not really sure our money we put aside from DH bonus is even enough for Self Catering, even though it is a small fortune to us (2.5K) so not sure whether to head to Haven/Butlins this year on the cheap and put aside money in a savings or go put a payment down for a holiday abroad next yr....I suppose if we start paying now we should be able to afford something decent by next yr?! (maybe).
Have spent the evening trying to log onto capital one & my vanquis as both are paperfree statements. Only thing is that both have blocked my online useage...so can't access how much i owe, whether they have even accepted the terms etc so need to make phone calls tomorrow (grrr hate making calls to creditors)
Also am going to chase up a travel claim that should have been paid into my account from army welfare last month! that should be around £100 + so will pay for petrol to Wales & back for june half term so I can take the kids! So lots of jobs to do tomorrow.
Also counting today as a LSD as spent less than a tenner & most of that was for filing for all our paperworkso I think that is 2/5 LSD?! :T

it is frightening how much it costs for a family holiday abroad, i'm aiming to take an abroad holiday next year but only if both credit cards are paid off so it's an incentive I guess. Keep persevering with your creditors they will eventually accept the letters, what about the company who is dealing with your dmp, will they not be able to advise you on what to do?????NEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050

It is frightening you're def not wrong there, DH nearly had a heart attack when they told us how much it was to go! :rotfl:Deeperblue wrote: »Is it really that much to go abroad with kids?! And yep we've been told the sooner we book the better the price we get and apparantly there is no such thing as a last minute deal....I don't believe this though my last holiday to Tunisia was All inclusive, 10 days and in high season and was £450 for me and less for DS! Ok so a few updates,
made some phone calls this morning, and in between had one credtior call me after money (:o) So....
ALL my catalogues have agreed to 0% interest and to stop charges, so long as the CCCS get the letters sent out to them. (3 creditors)
Capital One has stopped interest
Vanquis x 2 has stopped interest
Santander CC has agreed to stop interest IF letter is sent out from CCCS this month.
Barclaycard has reduced interest to 6% (will write letter in a month or so to see if we can reduce this more)
Barclays O/D and Loan have both defaulted meboooooo
We paid the HSBC & Santander O/D off already so we are 2 creditors less....also we had to add the tax bill on, but they have stopped interest also.
So we've called the CCCS and asked for more letters to be sent out, they said they would...so I will call the creditors next week to see if they have received them. They have also been paying, in error, money to the santander O/D that we have paid, closed the account ,....so we need to go to town and see what is happening there because that money could be getting our other debts down!
So pretty positive...just a case of waiting around now to see what happens!
I also called welfare to chase up the travel claim i'm owed...waiting to hear back
Paid £25 onto my post office saving card towards my tax bill for the car in July so hopefully will have a nice sum there to pay off the tax by then. Also waiting for money to go in for DS school fees so we can pay that off. I worked out the budget this morning and we are £5 short for the month, because this morning we had to make token payments on the santander (£40) and 3 catalogues £15 (£5 each)
SO really need to be careful this month and save money where I can!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Hi
Have you looked on icelolly.com or bookable holidays - these are often cheaper than the travel agents or even just have a look on teletext holidays.
In the past we've also just booked flights and acomodation seperately and this always works out cheaper as well, but you do normally need to book flights way in advance for the really good deals. HTH x0
