Hi
Have you looked on icelolly.com or bookable holidays - these are often cheaper than the travel agents or even just have a look on teletext holidays.
In the past we've also just booked flights and acomodation seperately and this always works out cheaper as well, but you do normally need to book flights way in advance for the really good deals. HTH x
No i've never heard of them? thanks :T will check them out! And good news ref the Haven holiday if we decide to do that, I bumped into another army wife this morning and she told me if I go onto armedforces discount website (she's sending the address later) I should get £200 off a holiday there!so will be looking at that too!

YEY :j I've booked my holiday for August
I had a last minute change of heart (and another LBM :money:) and decided against a holiday abroad ...tbh I am a little gutted, BUT we really couldn't afford it (well we could with all the bonus money but i felt it was a waste considering our situation) Soooooooooooo we are going.... *drum roll please*.....to Haven :rotfl:we're going to the lake district for 10 days and have booked a super posh caravan thingy (one down from the top)...and I got £430 off :money: by going through an Army discount site
so a 10 day hol is costing us around £900.....ok ok so we could have got it way cheaper if we went else where perhaps didn't book lots of activities, and have a posh room....but I thought it was a compromise for the hol abroad
Oh and forgot to say earlier, got DH to call Sky they have reduced our package to £40 a month rather than £50 that it was! He did forget to ask WHEN we could cancel though *doh* whole reason of call....am thinking of cancelling and transferring the money each month to a seperate pot to see just how much money we wasted on this (and obviously using for a good hol or day out lol)
So that's all my news ...until tomorrow my friends! :rotfl:night, DFW xMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Have paid the £99 booking fee/deposit for our holiday :j so excited now...only 13 and a half weeks to get into bikini shape () and i stupidly weighed myself (the MSE way, on a pair of scales in wilko that were out on display :rotfl:) and I am about half a stone over my ideal weight of 9st 7lb....and a stone away from where I would love to be (9st 3lb) booooo ....I wondered why the trousers were that tight!!
All the bills have come out and we don't have much to live on, but at least the bills are paid, and I have grocery money out in a cup in my cupboard :rotfl:so we will eat!
DS1 keeps calling asking for things to be sent to him. 1) i want to send them because I feel guilty for sending him to boarding school (my own issues of going to one here are surfacing I know...) 2) I obviously want my child to have the same amount of 'things' as his mates....but 3) I want him to understand he can't have everything, and also that we are indeed on a budget and he receives pocket money so should save up from that!!! I worry, because he uses me as I would use a credit card....'mum if you buy this i will pay you back half my pocket money each week until i've paid' ....hmmm not really sure I should be leading him down that path, most of us on here have been down there and look where we are now!
I have been reading some diaries on here and they are so inspirational, makes mine feel a bit of a useless contirbution really. I wish I could say things that count, or matter, or make people think twice...In fact I often wonder if anyone is reading or if I am just rambling on to myself (no change there then I do that daily anyways lol)
