ha i know what you mean my oh was there for about 6 months 25 days so it was very close to 7 months. He was away all summer it was awful. It was our first tour while we have been together so was tough. But wow you deserve a medal for getting through it with the little ones. Luckily my oh has a posting now so were good for a few years. x

Well today the lawnmower arrived that i ordered from army...is absolutely rubbish just like the hoover they gave me:rotfl: my neighbour caught me in my garden cutting the grass....with scissors...I was that infuriated by it lol! That is one job that hubby will have when he gets back for sure ;)

I sent off a few more items i sold on ebay :T and also heard from the lady that won on the duvet and hadn't paid...she is going to pay on friday :T

Am going to spend tomorrow tidying and packing up the car to go to my sisters & mums (i'm de-cluttering into their houses :rotfl:) so tomorrow should be a NSD so i should make my 12 NSD target :A

Thurs am going to pick up DS and watch him in a musical concert playing the drums :) & going to drop the two little ones off so i can watch in peace (well peace apart from the loud music lol)

Have decided to spend friday at mums and catch up with family and drive home saturday!! Then only sunday to go until hubby is bk :j so excited!

Well that's my itinerary for the week  so i may not be on here very much after tomorrow but will try to keep to MSE ways whilst out and about!! :money:

  • Well a parcel arrived today, some GHD's & 2 dvd's that i had ordered last week and forgotten about :o:o Was £100 for all of it, so did actually save money on the GHD's but I feel so ashamed for spending the money when it could have gone towards debt.

It seems i have a down day and am not feeling good about anything, few glasses of wine....no company and I am on ebay, amazon, quidco etc looking for 'bargains' that i may want but do not actually NEED :( i feel like this is another EPIC fail on my behalf and i MUST stop it!!! Alright I know i had promised myself the straightners & the dvd's were a bargain...but the fact they turned up and i had practically forgotten about ordering them...well that just can't happen anymore ...

I am very glad DH is home on Monday, so that in the evenings i can switch off the computer & spend time with him....taking me away from my comfort shopping & having lots more NSD and hopefully getting us to our DFD quicker :o feeling very annoyed with myself now. And i could send them bk but now i have them in my hands i don't want to, as ive asked DH for some for years....perhaps instead of taking me out for my mother's day pressie i can say that was from him (well he paid for it anyway)

I spoke to him last night, and he wants to spend his 5K bonus as follows....£2k on debt (tax bill & towards DMP) getting car fixed so we have time to save for new one (only a cheap one again) Holiday, an eternity ring and a few nights away just us two. We also need a new laptop, current one is only held together by one wire thanks to kids nearly snapping screen clean off. Not sure what he wants to do with the rest and i'm hoping there will be some left.....

but I have told him that he can have his tour bonus to spend as he pleases (perhaps silly mistake) SO long as i have full control of the budget and he sticks to it (i.e the grocery bill as he will happily spend £120+ a weeks) so he has agreed....perhaps long term this will benefit, rather than chucking 5K at the debt and having no treats and then letting him spend his wages stupidly every month (as we used to)....any thoughts?? I'm feeling so tired & exhausted these days just can not think straight.

Can't wait for hubby to come bk and I can catch up on sleep, housework & 'me' time! Perhaps then i won't feel the need to spend so foolishly........

I think although it would be sensible to throw the bonus at the debt i totally agree letting him decide how he wants to spend it. I mean hes certainly earned it. If he wants to throw some at the debt and go away with u and fix the car the great! When my oh got back hed booked for us to go to the carabean and it was amazing but cost a fortune and i felt so guilty but its what he wanted to do. X

  • I agree about the bonus, you still need to have a few treats even when you're a DFW :)

I'm due a small bonus at end of April - not as much as £5k unforch! - and will be using some of it to buy some new glasses haha. that's my 'treat'!
  • thanks for your replies everyone, think i was just having a panic moment, I received lots of statements from credit cards & catalogues this morning & lots haven't stopped charging me interest :( i feel like i will be paying back this debt forever sometimes.

I'm just in the middle of doing a budget for April, DH & DS will be here for pretty much most of it and eating at home every day, all day so have decided to try and stick to the following,

Take out £885 cash tomorrow and split as follows

£170 into Co-op account for school fees/ insurances etc
£20 on my post office card

300 for grocery challenge. Am going to try and rope DH into meal planning with me so he can choose what he likes as well as what i like to cook because it is cheap lol. He also likes to cook so he can do some bulk cooking with me.

120 for petrol again 4 long round trips at least so this may not be enough....DH will want to visit family etc so need to do a couple of 100+ mile trips. (if it's not enough i have only spent £54 on this months so have money left over)

60 on take aways/ eating out in places (this is usually ZERO but as DS is on easter hols, and DH bk from afghan i'm sure they'd appreciate the odd treat ;) but this will prob go bk down in May)

100 on entertainment...I have 5 cinema tickets free from our welfare so that is one trip out, boot fairs are bk on now and we love to do that on a sunday so that will keep us busy...but if DS & DH are back they can help me again with the two little ones going swimming so money will be spent there, also in blockbuster probably...my son's & DH vice (hmmm)

115 on pocket money to split as 50 quid each me & DH and 15 DS....although i realise he has his bonus on top of this....i am going to try and explain that this money is to spend on his cigarettes, extra alcohol if he would like some and no money in grocery budget left, snacks etc so am hoping that his tour bonus will not get frittered away on silly things and a few weeks later have him say to me where did all that money go! (as usual...and i normally get the blame!)

Oh also forgot clothing allowance & mobile phone allowance (credit) but tbh i won't top up, i only do so when DS is at school to chat to him, and he only tops up to ring home...DH needs to buy a new phone as was lost just before he flew out but he can get this out of his money from bonus. I haven't taken money for clothes either as again DH wanted to spend some money on clothes for all of us :) so all in all i may be able to save some extra money this month from the actual wage. This extra money will be split evenly between savings, holiday fund for 2012 (am starting already as no bonus's due next yr!) and school fees as i have extras due next term such as a cricket bat & tennis racquet!

Well here's wishing me luck  as ds & dh are terrible with money, if they have it they HAVE to spend it or else it burns holes in their pockets lol :rotfl:

  • Well happy mother's day to any mum's reading :) i got breakfast in bed and a card which was lovely. But since then i have not stopped all day and am exhausted (still have huge ironing pile to do and mop floor & hoover)...

Well go back a few days and it was payday....I checked my online bank expecting to see a nice big figure.......and instead i had 56 quid in there  the !!!!!!!g clerks at DH work had f***ed up majorly and paid our money into the old account.:mad::mad: <
understatement as to how i felt that morning. Ended up leaving the house raging, as couldn't get hold of DH to tell him, i had to go raid the savings to pay for petrol (ended up spending £100 :mad:) and had to take money out for weekly shop today (£63) and all i could think was thank f**k i had saved some money, a few months ago we would have been stuck majorly as all credit cards, overdrafts etc were maxed out anyway! phew...

Anyway finally got hold of DH and he finally got hold of the tw** on payroll that messed it up and they are going to give me a cheque for tomorrow (not for whole amount though...another :mad:) and are going to request the money back from santander as was paid in error. i personally think santander are going to clear out debts first meaning we will end up with hardly any bonus for hubby being out the country for 7 months :( it just all feels like it was for nothing. No holiday nothing.

it never ever rains in this house, just pours.

AM so excited about DH coming home but this has completely dampened my mood and all i want to do is cry about it. I know it's only money at the end of the day and the debt does have to be paid back but we were so looking forward to replacing things in house that were broke, enjoying our first family hol etc that i just could go and find that clerk and punch him in the bl**dy face  i'm surprised DH didn't do just that........certainly more restrained than i would have been!!!!!

So kept on budget for food shop this week........mostly because of money situation tbh, i wanted to get DS some treats and just couldn't :(.

We won't have any money now until DH cheque clears from work, the rest of the savings were used to transfer to my regular bank so i could make payments for DD's due out otherwise i would have been charged for those boucing all over the place.

I just have one thing to say to all this 'Why me?' :(
