  • Good Morning :j

well i was in bed sleeping by 8.30pm last night:jand feel much better for it today!

Am meeting girls out today at free coffee morning......although they do a cooked breakfast there which i am going to try and avoid!! I really want a NSD and feel i have to prove to myself i can avoid temptation :o. I was going to have coffee round mine but i went on strike yesterday until the kids started picking up their toys :o ummmmmmm i could be waiting a few years for that to happen :rotfl: so house is a ruddy tip! :rotfl:

Am giving myself some jobs to do later as dh is only due one bonus this year / payrise and that is the one he is getting over the next few months, so:
    • make a document of when all large yearly/quarterly household bills are due:
    • car insurance
    • car tax
    • landlord insurance
    • household insurance
    • telephone line rental (only just paid thankfully)
    • school fees
I have pots for each of these but thanks to my luck with cars i have emptied various pots and they are probably all owed something so they are full enough for when bills are due! So although it would have been nice to pay a lump sum off the debts i think we need to get our finances straightened out again.

A friend has told me of a place that sells legal second hand tyres for the car :T so will get the other tyre i need from there on pay day i think. I used to wait until i visited mums as there was a place on the way to new cross i used to visit but haven't been down there for ages with hours to spare to do that, so good news there is one round here :D. Will get onto dh see if he has a friend who can do the brakes for us on the cheap. and then the car should be sorted for the year (well i can hope)

I am determined to stick to budget in march though so it may have to be mince every night for dinner :rotfl: and not only stick to budget but stick to the budget of each POT! i usually end up shuffling them all round. Which seems pointless and means my budget doesn't work. so will see if i can do anything to make it easier next month!

Ha!! Tell me about it - I thought February would be "easy" compared to other months...famous last words eh? :D

Glad to read you've had a diagnosis for DS1, it's good to know what you are dealing with :).

I think going on strike is a great idea - i may nick that from you and give it a try! We are going to have a lovely budget in March and will stick to it - we have a challenge to stick to - although mum is over for the month so it means going out for day trips - think petrol may go over if not careful :)

  • Great, sounds like you have lots of organisation going on there today !

I am praying for the day when DD2 tells me she no longer needs all of the toys cluttering up the house, and although she is 11 in a few weeks she is still often found playing with the baby dolls ( don't tell her friends though;) ), so it seems a shame to get rid of everything. I would rather she was doing that than glued to the tv or the nintendo if possible !

I hope you have a lovely coffee morning and a chat with your friends ! You will be a brave woman if you can resist that fry up, its bacon sardines that I can't pass by !:D

  • Few notes on SOA:

As before, council tax, rent & water rates are taken out of DH wages before we get them.

This SOA is WITHOUT my rental income ....i wanted to see what the shortfall was if i don't get tenants after May  it's not looking good is it £187 short  if we don't get tenants i'll have to call up CCCS and lower payments again :( which will push our DFD back again but i don't want to cut our budget anymore

I called tax credits this afternoon and asked how much we would be getting after april and it has gone up by £10 a week :T:D I was expecting another cut!

I've also put down the car tax as £43 so that in 6 months we will have enough to buy 12 months. Then after september it will go back down to £22.50 -so that's why it is so expensive...

mobile phones x 3 = £15 each a month. I may cut this down a little. (i rarely use mine anyway and could just use house phone instead)

House phone- have already paid line rental of £114 till next jan. So expected broadband & phone should be around £15. I want to save £10 a month for next years land line rental to pay in bulk so haven't changed amount on soa for this.

car insurance i just did an online quote and cheapest was £362 most expensive was £2,500 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I have budgeted £50 a month and am thinking any extra will just go over to the car maintenance fund. We're not due the car insurance till July as paid for outright last year so it may change so thought i ought to be cautious and save more rather than too little!

Life assurance- dh's for work & also home contents

2 axa insurances due to mature 2013/2014.

If anyone can see any areas i could cut back on feel free to let me know ;) i'm posting more for my benefit though as i lose them when i print them out :rotfl:

  • Oh and today was a nsd (did i say that already? confused?!) My friend paid for me to have breakfast. I refused but she wouldn't take no for an answer so i got a kids portion....felt really bad i hate accepting things off people but she made me feel awful for making her eat alone lol so will have to repay her after pay day as she's done this a few times now!

Have been pondering on how to get more tenants, esp after i told the letting agents to politely go f*k themselves after f***ing me over Grrrrrr. Hmmmmmm yep so no idea what to do now lol. dad has moved across country so he isn't there anymore and i don't actually no anyone in the area. May have to advertise through the university ....really not sure i want students long term. BUT tbh they canNOT be much worse than the ones i've already had in there (dog lady, bar stewards that wouldn't pay x2) hmmmm!

Just lost last post..grr..wasnt logged in!

Do try the university DFW - that way then maybe they will keep an eye on who you get (well..maybe, maybe not!) Given the SoA can you really afford not to? Am sure they wouldn't take much for the adverting part and then can you ask, say, an old neighbour in the area to help our on an ad hoc basis - that wasy if nothing goes wrong you dont have to pay anyone anything?

Dont want to be saying the obvious, but think that extra would really help you out. Am sure others much better than I will be along to look at the SoA but it looks tight, doesnt it, as if you've really battened down the hatches already.

Agree re mobiles and that diesel bill..ouch. That must really hurt

    Have a good eve

can you believe this, NO! I rang every single one in the area (well estate agents) and they said the only one that dealt with that village was the one i eventually went to.........and there were others online but i think they have since closed down & i've been checking every year as i've not been happy with mine for ages......but i guess they don't care as they know the village is in the middle of nowhere in wales and people will go to them regardless of how they treat their customers - sorry bit of a rant there :rotfl:and I only meant to say NO! :rotfl:
