Thank you pinot
You know this is really sad, but I think most of my 'real' friends are on line these days!!
I've just got off the phone to him, he's spoken to me, matron & i've given him the choices. His initial reaction was 'no way' to going to the local ones. But i think this is probably because of all the time i've said 'over my dead body will you go there':o and suchlikehe knows i'm not keen on them. But i really have had a 'revelation' if you like, and i honestly just want him home now and don't care where he goes. I did try to be impartial when giving him the options though
not sure if i was successful or not lol. He has until easter hols to decide now! And that's it. Once he has made his choice there is no going back no changing his mind after he starts year 9! so let's hope he makes the right decision - for him!

:grouphug:same here regarding friends, i often find it easier to open up on here, if someone in real life asks how I am my automatic response is 'fine thanks' !
Am feeling much better today, i really do NOT do well on only 5 hours sleepso i can see where ds is coming from moaning about lack of sleep!!

Well I am feeling much better today :j
Have had a handy man round to fix some jobs that were driving me mad (i.e toilet seat fell off, leaks around the bath) so feel much happier when i go into the bathroom - lol small things, small minds huh!:o
Still waiting on an electrician to fix broken hobs on cooker.....i just tried it though and it's working ??? before everytime i switched them on they would turn all the electricity off and now they don't? huh! i hope i'm not wasting his time now
Have checked my bank and the spends from yesterday aren't showing yet. NSD today so up to no.4 :j
I have a friend who is always broke like me and today she 'fessed up to being on a dmp with PP. I think she'd heard me saying about my one and went ahead and did one too :T so hopefully she will start to feel a bit better about her situation soon, but i doubt it as she is not budgeting. She is just paying the min. on the debt that she can and is already broke before end of monthand she needs to get home somehow as her gran died ... it's rubbish living miles away from family!
Dinner is done, just needs some pasta & re-heating. Have mash left over from yesterday so am hoping it will last in the fridge till tomorrow then i can give kids that with some sausage and that's another meal
Have text ds today but not heard back from him. I hope he got more sleep last night...that way if he catches up on lost sleep he can make a sensible, thought out decision regarding schools :T i gave him the websites for both schools available so told him to have a look. He's usually a level headed clever boy so i'm sure he will make the right decision for what he thinks is best for him (we'll soon see huh!)
Need to hoover downstairs again but will do it once kids are in bed. Apart from that i'm going to have a relaxing afternoon, all that stressing yesterday has worn me out!:rotfl:MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. So glad you are feeling better, and i agree sleep helps a lot! I am sure your DS will make the right decission for him, but at least you have given him all of the options. I also agree with others that if he wants to do well he can do well at almost any school with the parents behind them.
I also agree with opening up to people on here. I would consider you friends that i can say anything to, much more than my 'real' friends. Sounds like your getting sorted with the house too. Good news about your course too. Really nice of her to let you do it even though not got the money at the moment. Must go as i have emptied a cupboard and bits need putting backMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I havent really had a lot of time to update lately - i really must as it helps to keep on track. I will update later as having a good day today - lots to cross of todo list!
DMP is going ok at the moment and (touches wood) i havent been bombarded by many creditors wanting money. Its lovely although probably regret saying it and will now await lots of calls.

Hiya,
Just catching up on your day today and Im so glad you are feeling better and have had a productive day. Just a thought, please tell me to mind my own business , but would it be worth you having a look around the schools you are possibly thinking of with your son if he has any school holidays coming up ? Not sure if boarding school hols coincide with the state schools. It might be good for him to get a feel of the schools if he could wander around with you during the school day. I'm sure you have probably thought of this anyway so apologies in advance !
Another thing, not sure why but I have been mulling over your problem whilst working today ( saves me thinking about my own stuff!) Our DS1 was originally in a private school, which we no longer could keep her at, so we changed her schools whilst she was still in Primary, but we used a little of the money we had been spending on the private education on a tutor to keep her ahead of the game a little if you see what I mean. It stood her in good stead when she started at the secondary. Just wondered if maybe you could do something similar with DS1 if he changed school but you are worrying about the standard of education he may receive.
Anyway those are my thoughts for the day. Hope I'm not sticking my nose in xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

:T actuallyi hadn't thought of it
.....i think ds1 breaks up a little before the state schools usually so could do this over easter :T

:Tyes this is what i was worrying about that he would fall behind, he's clever but aside from that i have sent him mostly to prep school throughout his primary education (aside from year 5&6 cos we couldn't afford it) but the local school we had was great and pushed him so he didn't fall behind. I've already thought that if he comes home i will pay for him to join the local rugby club as he loves that. Also keep up his drumming lessons & if need be a tutor for english (this is the only subject he has ever struggled with majorly so would concentrate on that i think)
Anyway those are my thoughts for the day. Hope I'm not sticking my nose in x
 course you're not sticking your nose in lol, I wouldn't post on an open forum if i did mind :rotfl: And i will def get on to the schools to see when they break up for half term/ easter. Have a funny feeling easter is the same day, although i may get to pick ds the night before they break up round here so we could go see the school on the friday. Hmmmm will have a look into it :jMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. some good news
my half brother has finally got back to me! I emailed him asking him to speak to my ds1 about boarding school as he went to one from 11-18....and actually stuck it out unlike me
so hoping he may have some tactics/advice to pass on to ds to help him. Even if ds decides to leave he still has until July to get to so any help should be good :T
AND I downloaded a meditation onto ds ipod before he went and he said he is actually usuing it and it has helped him get to sleep (not quite what it's for but hey ho)MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000.
