What exactly does gone clerical mean

  • The clerical cases are all dealt with by different teams to the non-clerical cases...I think you're more likely to have a dedicated case officer once your case has gone clerical too.

Hopefully the new computer system won't see so many cases break and go clerical!

My case has been to Hastings, Plymouth (where technically it still is) then up to Glasgow and has gone clerical to Bolton.

Thing is I live hundreds of miles away from all of those places so god knows why its there!

Kellogs is quite right though, computer has said no......and be warned because its now a paper file it can only be on one persons desk at a time you know.......no one else can access it apparently......

Might see if I can get mine moved though if there is actually an office who DOES something with them :D

By god those computers will need to be overhauled drastically before CSA3 comes into force.

I thought the problem WAS that they have been overhauled!

Kimitatsu - I questioned why I was with Plymouth. Was told 'oh, this is the non-compliant businessman's office and we're not actually the Plymouth office, but one close to it'. would that make sense in your case?! I love how cynical they are in that office - if you're half decent with them and don't shout at them (which I suspect happens a lot), they will tell you all sorts! One once asked me to hang on whilst he read my notes - 15 seconds later he gave a huge sigh and said 'oh hell, he's a self-employed director of a limited company. I hate self-employed directors of limited companies'. When I laughed my head off he said he'd been working there for too long and knew full well I was going to be at it with them for years. I got the story of the businessman who they'd just got 18 years worth of back pay off - I couldn't even begin to tell you what they'd gone through (over my head) but very interesting. And it makes you realise that at some level, they are people and they do take on cases personally and like to see things through, even though it's hard for them to do that.

It means your case is outside the scope of the computer software that administers claims, it would well be your case is with the complex cases team & could explain why it transferred to another CSA office.

That's why it's generally better to call them up and just deal with them fairly and politely over the phone, and they will generally try to help you out.

Plymouth have always been lovely I have to say :D Glasgow were great too - being told that the Officer KNEW that my ex was lying was just a breath of fresh air, and then being told what they would try to do about it (but being warned that I was in for the long haul) was also nice. Bolton however are pathetically useless

I know its not the fault of many of the staff there and once you get past the call answerer and through to someone who has been there a while they are as disillusioned as many of us - it must be so dispiriting to work with a system that doesnt do what it is supposed to do!!

Bolton were all taken on especially for the clerical cases and were not CSA trained - they were external bods. The other offices were all CSA staff. Not sure if that has been rectified or not.

My ex OH has a NI number that the computers don't like so our case is clerical, I've found a distinct improvement. In fact I ended up with a case worker who gave me her full name (unheard of) and told me to just ask for her with the details and she'll ring back. I don't tend to need to as the case runs smoothly.

Previous to this I have put in complaint after complaint... and still have craziness with the telephonists. I'm the NRP incidentally, and have been asked security questions about how much CSA I'm paid... to which I frostily answered I don't know do you want to read the file instead of assuming? Oops :)

But yeah fingers crossed - if you have to have clerical it seems to be someone who has more time to get stuff done and can actually add up, a huge bonus within the DWP... :D

    Holy cow!
Spoke to Stockport this morning and apparently they have managed to speak to the NRP and he has agreed to pay child support via a DEO. :j

There are letters in the post for me telling all the usual bits and bob's although I must say I'm still kinda cynical and I will wait until the money actually hits the bank account before I believe it.
