I use USB 1.0 and it does charge the unit. To be honest, you need it! I don't use the unit regularly - only once a fortnight or so, and yet it seems that you leave it for just a week and the batteries are dead - without enough juice to even turn the unit on.

Another thing I've noticed is that if I use the photo viewer, it sometimes seems to have upset the navigation when I go into it: I'll pick up over 3 satellites, yet the streets will be 'jumping around' like it can't lock on.

Hi, Aldi are selling the Evesham 6400 from Thursday - does anyone have any info/advice on this one..? Given the reports above on the 6200, Im having a crisis of confidence now.

    Cheers

After having the 6200 for a while now, I'd steer clear of anything in the Evesham Navcam range.

It doesn't matter how you turn the 6200 off, it looses charge after a few days. The latest monthly camera update requires you to use a memory card reader and an SD memory card, and it doesn't work, so there has only been one since November and even that is badly out of date. The maps are supposed to be from 2006 but are very inaccurate, and the routing loves taking to scenic route!

Ok, thanks for that. Anyone got any recommendations for something in that kind of price range that has camera warning built in too?

    Thanks in advance

Had an email from ALDI about the next one up I presume as its 6400 and £20 more. I was looking to get a tomtom one my daughter had one before but it was stolen would this be as good to replace it with?

I've just bought a Navman F20 from Currys. Online price is £119.68 with free shipping. I used Collect In Store because I needed it pretty quickly but there's a discount code out there which can be used on Home Delivery and i think you can order through Quidco. All in should be not much more than £110

Thanks for the recommendation, but Ive looked at Navman F20 on the web and it doesn't seem to mention speed cameras? This is my main motivation for buying one of these to be honest; used to have a road angel, cos I was teetering on 9 points, but it was stolen from the car. Now I need to replace it, but feel I might as well have satnav as well, and at a much cheaper cost than road angel are charging...

If I were teetering on 9 points, I wouldn't be relying on any gadgets..... I'd be relying on keeping to the limit at all times.

I'm not sure if you're correct when you say that the update doesn't work and you need a card reader

When i got my 6200 at xmas i too was confused about this card reader buisiness .

I phoned Evesham direct and they explained to me that for MODELS 6200 onwards , a card reader is not needed

I've just updated mine this morning with no problems at all :T

The procedure was : Download the update from here http://www.evesham.com/navcam/default.asp?e=28792493-E6C9-464F-B4D4-B326A7031172

Save to your dektop and then connect your sat nav to your pc via the supplied usb cable

All you have to do now is open up the update on your desktop and follow the promps , it takes seconds .

In my opinion the 6600 is superb value for money , and even my mates at work with their so called top of the range tom toms have problems with their units :rotfl:

Sure , the 6200 looses charge fairly quickly , so do what i did , buy a mains charger :
