well done for trying it cheeky chappie, so really then its not worth the upgrade to the 7700 in your opinion. On reading various forums i think i am probably expecting too much from the unit anyway. out of interest how big was the disc for the 7700 software?0

Hi all
This is my first posting and i'm thinking about buying the evesham 6200 sat nav from asda .
After discount and vouchers the total cost will come to £69.99 :j
I have never owned any kind of sat nav before and was just wondering if you could sum up and tell me if this product is worth buying .
I've read the pro's and cons on the 6200 and can't make up my mind whether to buy this product and this low price or wait a while and save for the dearer tom tom range .
The unit will only be used occasionally for holidays , address finding etc .
Also could somebody tell me if the Evesham 6200 comes with a ( in car charger ) and if it doesn't whether i can buy one and from where ,
many thanks ,

6200 comes with a car charger and a USB lead.
Just the general map quality on the 7700 is in less detail, you can't zoom in as much.
Only thing it seemed to do better was to choose main roads, rather than non classified, but it was always trying to draw you away from a country road to a main road, even if that was a longer route.
Maybe I need more time to adjust to it, but the simplicity of the ASDA unit has meant that this one appears harder to use.
Speed camera warnings are by voice and you are told what sort, which was better than the chiming 6200.
7700 also tells you to turn onto the road by name, such as "Turn left onto the A43"
The 7700 disc is 112mb. 19 folders, 595 files.
Is it possible to run the 6200 as a 7700 from the 7700 back up disc, if required?0 -

If you are only using it the odd time the Asda one will be fine0 -
cheeky chappie, reckon if the unit is formatted and then recovered as you would with the 6200 disc it should work??? can always restore it to the 6200 disc if it dont?0

Matt
I'm guessing that motormadmarc works for ASDA and is using our 10% discount card to bring it down to £90 and then the £20 Christmas gift card 'bonus' all staff that have worked more than a year recieve to bring it down to £70.
I'm using my £20 gift card tomorrow to buy a Fuji digital camera (£70) because it's also 'double discount' day.
Camera = £70
20% discount = £14
Camera now = £56
Less £20 gift card = £36
And before you all ask why motormadmarc doesn't buy it on 'double discount day', we can only get double discount on certain things. Can't on electricals but strangely we can on cameras. We can't even buy tins of chrismas chocolates with double discount!

Sainsbury's have the Sony NV-U50 instore for £149.99
Not sure if it includes the full car mounting kit (the blurb on the back of the display case just mentioned "optional" cradle), but a good price for this unit if it does. I don't think this one is hackable though as the software is held on the unit's internal flash memory rather than on a memory card. Someone will no doubt come along and prove me wrong though...;)
How much do staff get off at Sainsbury's then? :beer:0 -

No problem motormadmarc.
Sorry I can't take up your offer of  but I'm just about to slip into my georgous ASDA t-shirt and go to work to drive that Mercedes Home Shopping Van (with sat-nav;) )
