The only difference is software and extra 256mb memory card hardly worth 50% premium over the Asda one, at £99 its worth a gamble at £149 there are premium brands available around the same price

Totally agree. As I said before the 6200 was specially produced for Asda, thus allowing Asda to specify the requirements and also the price. They don't even sell this model on their own site.

  • hi there smartie 1976; i have chased up the police stations issue with evesham who advise no fix available, also with smart2go who supply software who state the supplied software to them (tele atlas) is poor and missing 50% coverage overall (including police stations) and this cannot be rectified
probably why evesham now bundle the AA software and rebadge it a 7700!

Sounds like it might be possible to turn the 6200 into the 7700 if the device will run it's apps etc from the SD card slot. Just need someone to donate their 7700 contents electronically...
  • yes i think that would resolve all the niggles, you would think evesham would bite the bullet and offer all those users with the duff software a free upgrade. lol! heres to the first 7700 user to post us some good news (along with a link to the download.;)

Might pay a visit to Netto then in the morning !
  • I bought mine two weeks ago and I'm delighted with it.

What I can't understand is people taking it to task when it sends them the wrong way on local journeys. The point is you use this tool when you don't know where your going - why would you have it activated for journeys that you know?

My only gripe (and its a small one) is the number of mobile camera alerts generated but overall for £99 its a steal.

Does anyone know how to update the speed camera database?

    I had a look at navi-plugins.com and evesham.com but couldn't find it.

    Thanks
  • I bought the Netto version to compare, which is the Evesham 7700, and I prefer the ASDA one as it is simpler to operate.
Police stations are closer to home, but still not local.
The map viewer as you drive along is not as well detailed either, so mine will be going back to Netto, although I did play safe and back up the 7700 disc if it can ever be used.
  • Well I managed to get TomTom 6 working on the Evesham 6200 hardware. It's a bit slow navigating longer routes, but not too slow as to be annoying.

  • Just to let anyone who's interested know I rang around most of Manchester yesterday trying to get hold of one of these and Bury Marketside had a few in last night, and I managed to get one for a Xmas present.
