So we left it a few more hours in the USB port and it's STILL orange - is it charging? Is it ok to use it before it goes green?!
Thanks
Helen

When I was in Asda today, someone was returning one of these
I saw the return reason and it said "cannot connect to computer". I tried to talk to the guy about it before he left, but he ran out quick.

Hi. With the Evesham Nav-Cam 6200 can you update the navigation database , for example with my old car navigation system i had to buy disks about yearly so that the navigation was aware of new roads that had been built (These cost around £280!!) Using the supplied USB camble is it possible to regularly update the software on the unit so that more recently built roads are on it. Also is that the same with speed camera locations?? Otherwise surely after sometime the unit would not recognise alot of roads and be pretty much useless.
This is the final peice of information i need before i start to hunt one down in asda's throughout the country :P
Your comments would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

At the moment there is no support, its a gamble if new maps/firmware is available,
As for speedcams it costs £30 a year for upgrades although its not available on the website yet.
If you rely on this for work get a branded one you can get a TomTom one V2 for £162 delivered and there are regular updates you can get the speed camera database for free (just google) and thousands of POI's and voices are available for free0 -
Oh right, reading some posts on here the POI's are as much as 3 years out of date! is this correct? Surely its throwing £100 down the drain if no map updates will be available as new roads/junctions/rounderbouts wil be all out of date, if not by 3 years then soon will be. It uses Nav-Tech Mapping system which is the same as Mercedes-Benz use so i would have thought it is good, but perhamps not if its 3 years out of date.
I have kind of gone off the idea soley due to no map updating being available - Seems pointless.
Looking into the TomTom possibility now.
Thanks for your comment

We used ours today and when you turn it on, and go to "Navigator", then to the menu then change settings, change map setting, maps, it reads version "4.0, Oct 06, 2006"
So one would imagine that means the maps are up to date. It has the M6 toll road which was opened in December 2003.

I think I am going to take the 6200 back as it has locked up a few more times, the first one I bought locked up even when i tried to input date and time etc.
I bought the tom tom 1 today from staples for £149 plus a free 512mb flash drive. I asked if they had any and it was found out the back, but it has def been returned so hope it is ok.
I bought it thinking there would be a speed camera database pre installed , but there is not, so how can I get an up to date one for free.0 -
