Ours is going to go back:

It's taking us on ridiculous detours around local streets on pretty-much straight-line journeys; tried to send us the wrong way down a one-way street; attempted to guide us down a mud track at the side of a field; best of all, no matter what journey is input at what time of day, the ETA clock always shows "12:16" to start off with.

And besides all that, I charged it up via USB yesterday morning and left it on a nearby shelf (switched off). About three hours later I picked it up to have a look at something and it gave me a low battery warning and shut itself off (!). So, as has been reported elsewhere, this thing is always on even in standby when it looks like it isn't consuming any power. Beware...

If I thought that Evesham were about to issue a fix for all the above then I'd keep this 6200 as it fits in our vehicle perfectly. But I don't suspect that they will. Hardware changes very quickly in this game, software is often quite the reverse.

    Mike.
  • I have one of the 6200 and it seems to be OK, only snag there are no updates available as yet, I asked if my Subscription would updated accordingly as the Six months have started last week, no response yet.
the POI 's are aprox 3 years out of date, i.e. Hull City AFC are shown as being at Boothferry Park.....They and Hull FC RLC both moved to the KC Stadium 3 years ago !!!!!!
    Oh well you can't have everything @ £99 I suppose Hi !!
PS you can NOT charge via the USB, I use a seperate Mains charger (Currys £5.99 made for use with Tom Tom) and check the charging power light turned Green !!

You can get chargers on Ebay cheaply i got a mains usb one for my TT for £5 delivered which would fit the Evesham
  • Plugged my 6200 into the pc via USB this morning and GREEN LIGHT showing when I came back.

Perhaps you people should check your facts before publishing your comments (loads of mis-information on this thread - unfortunately)... it could make people think you are working for Evesham's competition!

Aso, if it does use power constantly (don't know - so can't comment on this [unlike many on this site who seem to speak out of complete ignorance]) try the hardware switch at the bottom. It can always be used for long inactive periods and it does not delete anything in the memory (at least, it didn't with mine). You see, you received the unit with power and it has almost certainly been many weeks since leaving the factory!

added Sat. 18th: I have read elsewhere that unless you exit properly before switching off it assumes you are just in a powersave mode and continues to operate. Exiting/shutting down anything properly first is always good practice (just ask Windows!) so it seems just yet another case of operator error again. Perhaps someone could confirm this?

    Regards.

YOU CAN charge via usb as I have done so on more than once
  • I believe that not all usb's have power. This may answer that some can power them with and some can't. i believe you need to have version 2 usb for it to power up....this is only my belief and i havn't looked into it. Maybe someone with a more teccy mind could confirm this?
