What version of Windows are you using? 95, ME, XP etc, as I used Windows XP and connected it via USB and it recognised the storage device after automatically loading the drivers.

When you are doing a 'hard reset' are you trying to do it whilst connected via USB ? When I did a hard reset it worked fine, but mine was in my car so obviously not connected to any computer.
  • Xp pro, 28mins on the helpline with someone that had less of an idea than me.
Yep I'm doing it whilst connected via usb to pc,

I'm at a bit of a loss really, maybe Mr Gates just doent like me.lol.

Does anybody know how to add photos? I've inserted a SD card and when I connect the Nav Cam to my pc, the 3 drives pop up. I've dragged some jpegs into the g drive (ie the empty drive without any maps etc) - but when I unplug the unit and go to photos, it shows the SDMMC folder, but I can't seem to open it or go further, implying there's nothing there. The instructions are very basic and of no use.

Update: Sussed it - you have to press and hold the icon. Why they don't tell you that, when every other 'operation' is simply a one-touch, I don't know!
  • Hi all .

Iwas just wondering if anybody has had any problems charging the EVESHAM 6200 via the supplied usb cable

Sometimes i leave the unit charging overnight , and in the morning the battery strength is still low .

Also , after charging via the supplied usb cable , the unit seems to stick on USB MODE and needs to be RESET before it can be used

    Many thanks ,

    mark

Ps : Does anybody know how to delete entries in the bookmarks / favourites menu on the evesham 6200

I use one small fitting usb cable for all my devices Garmin i3, nav-cam, mp3 player, camera all work fine and charge/tranfer data as they should, connected via a (powered) USB 2.0 hub from the computer (integrated USB port)..... though if I use the USB add-on panel in the front of the PC (again powered USB 2.0 but coming off the mobo) it doesn't like it and get device not connected properly, leading me to believe the problem is with USB ports rather than cables, if your using a hub, make sure it's a powered one.... not much of a problem on devices that just transfer data, but critical on ones that are powered/charged from the usb.
Whilst on the USB babble.... my skype crossover box (use normal phone for skype) only like the onboard USB, won't work in a hub powered or not!
PCI USB 2.0 add-0n cards are ideal if you have USB 1.1 mobo, and can be had for less than a fiver (+P&P): http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/22056
though don't be tempted by ebuyers cheap hubs, they feed voltage back to the motherboard when the pc is off and can damage it!
  • Thanks for your reply SPEND , SPEND , SPEND .

What is a POWERED USB 2 HUB

I usually connect the nav cam to my pc via the FRONT usb port but as you say the unit doesn't seem to like it and i get a message telling me that there are HIGH SPEED PORTS available on my pc . ( WHERE ARE THEY )

I've tried using a different usb port from the REAR of the machine but i keep getting the same message .

I'm quite new to this kind of thing and any advice will be greatly appreciated ,

  • What is a POWERED USB 2 HUB

A hub simply splits 1 usb socket usually 2/4/7 ways, so you can use upto 7 usb devices of one port on your pc, some 2/4 port hubs aren't usually powered (mains adapter) and may draw more current than the single usb port can supply (think it's 500ma max) so if you have an unpowered 4 port hub with each usb device drawing 500ma each it can't cope.... hence the need for a powered hub, the mains adapter suppliments the extra power, though if you are using only one port on the PC, this isn't your problem?
Even old 1.1 usb ports (as opposed to USB 2.0) should charge your sat-nav as the voltage is the same (5V).

Also I would imagine that a powered hub would charge the Nav-Cam via the usb cable without the PC being turned on, obviously the mains adapter to the hub would have to be on!

You could also try one of these usb power supplies http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-USB-MP3-iPOD-SHUFFLE-MAINS-CHARGER-UK_W0QQitemZ130071346410QQihZ003QQcategoryZ124270QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem simply plugs in the mains to charge your usb devices via the usb cable (that is all, no data transfer!)
  • Thanks for your help SPEND , SPEND , SPEND :j

I'll have to go and buy a powered usb hub now ,
