    Money Saving Expert - Pah!!!!!

If I hadn't read this thread, I've wouldn't have know about this gizmo and I wouldn't have gone to Asda to get one:-)

    In stock in Dunstable.

    Good Points.
    Price
    It works
Small but with decent sized 9cm screen
    Easy to use
    Good Volume
Charges from USB connector or Car charger
Takes an SD card so you can use it as a USB disk drive

    Bad Points
Only 5 digit post code search (Takes 7 digits but only uses the 1st 5 as far as I can work out)
Smart2go navigation software a bit clunky compared to Tom Tom
MP3 playback quality a bit dubious with headphones
Photo playback not good - screen is low res and no full screen option

Anyone worked out how you can delete bookmarks/favourites? I can see that getting annoying if they continue to build up.

Can't see how to delete bookmarks on the device but you can edit the XML file that holds the information.

Connect via USB and navigate through My Computer to Removable Disk Letter:\MobileNavigator\Prefs.

Take a copy of the file prefs.unitedkingdom.xml and then edit original with Wordpad and delete from <g n=BKMx"> down to the corresponding </g>.
If it goes wrong, put the copy back!

I dont/didnt know anything about sat navs before buying this unit but others have said it doesnt use 7 digit postcodes, but I have just entered two different 7 digit postcodes and it has brought up the corresponding street name.

I also purchased this unit because of the speed camera warnings.

I still have not decided if I am going to keep it but I will take it back if anyone can tell me if there is an alternative out there, that is touchscreen and has a speed camera database installed.

I know the maps are a little out of date on the 6200 so it would be good to be ale to update them.
  • Anyone know what the lights mean- understand the charger one, but the other variants are a mystery to me

    .

Loads of them depends on your budget to be honest.
  • got nav cam yesterday from nottingham asda.
crashed it 3 times at home messing about with it.
used it today for visting a friend in kent, ok getting there, bit iffy on roundabouts. coming out of dartford tunnel system crashed, needed reseting. i've done 300 miles with it.

    Good points:
    cheap, works

    bad points:
    slow to show route
haven't worked out how to update it
    is support available
    can't delete bookmarks
unlike the tom tom doesnt show when you come off the correct route. ie green route.

haven't decided if i'am going to take it back and maybe go for the tom tom/nav man. any advice welcome

Speaking for myself but I imagine others will feel the same, the magic price of £100 is a big deciding factor. Is there anything better at this price or maybe up to £20 more?
  • The Green light on the left is the charger, the green light on the right is the GPS signal. You may notice that the lights will flash blue on either side - this coincides with the direction you should turn i.e. flashing blue on the left=turn left. When both lights flash blue together you are at your destination.

Good satnav albeit the map clours seem a bit washed out to me (no choice of colour schemes unlike tomtom). Very good and fast at locking onto a satellite, even indoors.I think its a good buy for £99 if you can get one - some people are selling them for £140 on ebay already! Get in quick before they're all gone!
  • I got one the other day.... used it today... and am made up with it :D

it got me where i wanted to go with no probs at all

Very clear voice...the blokes one...havnt tried the other yet

Clear maps in 2d or 3d

    cool piece of kit :D
They've got cars big as bars
    They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
