RozV - Hope you got your venue in Bakwell sorted out, it's a lovely part of the country. How are you getting on with the David Austin Roses;)

Yeah we have the venue 99% sorted - meeting with them on Thursday to finalise everything :D

:naughty: Don't mention the flowers!!! I emailed David Austin and they quoted £125 for one bouquet  I'm going to ask at a couple of local florists to see what they can do but I'm really not fussed!! Mum also came up with the gem of "I'm going to order some real flower buttonholes/corsages for me, your dad and the girls" (my sisters) & it made me flip  I'M SORTING FLOWERS FOR EVERYBODY AT THE CEREMONY, PLEASE JUST STAY OUT OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I did say please, does that make it less Bridezilla?! :o)

Then my gran was asking about the order of the day so I explained we get married at 12 at the reg office, then go to the posh venue for the meal & pictures and then we go to the reception venue and she asked me whether my mum & dad were going to the reception  When I looked confused and said of course they were, why was she asking, she said "Well, how will I get home after the meal" Errrrrrmmmmmm... You don't?! You come to the reception as well?! AND she keeps asking whether I'll be wearing white because seeing as we're living together I shouldn't really...

Grrrrr families!!! I'm off to the Bridezilla thread! :rotfl:

Your venue looks beautiful Fawny - right now I'm wishing I could just run away with OH and get married without all the stress!!!

  • LOL! I find alcohol to be a poor medicine, however good it tastes/feels at the time!!

I've spent the last couple of days sniffing and coughing as well. :( NO you annoying virus/germs/whatever, I do not have TIME to be ill!

In a word, yes. :D I hope she settles down and realises who's wedding it is! Charitably speaking, I'm sure that she's just trying to be helpful and involved, but that doesn't make it any less annoying for you!

My fabric shopping trip yesterday was a partial success; I now own my wedding dress fabric, and some lining (which may or may not be used, I'll explain in a minute), but couldn't find my MoH's fabric. I'd love her to wear vibrant purple, but she wants a darker shade, which is fair enough (we reached a compromise on MoH dress colour when the situation was reversed a few years ago!). So I want a dark purple which tones with the brighter purples I'm having elsewhere, ie not too indigo-y, but I could only find bright purple or indigo yesterday. Still, plenty of time yet.

I'm sooooo pleased with my dress fabric though; it's a stunning oyster colour, with just a hint of a sheen (didn't want satin, which made things harder!), and drapes beautifully. And it's silk, and I (sorry, my mum :D) paid £40 for 5 and a half metres of it, which is astonishingly cheap for silk! :money:
We ended up getting the lining first, because we found a gorgeous cotton at £2 a metre so grabbed it before we forgot where we found it. But, the colour is a little too different from the silk for my liking - a bit too creamy. So I will keep an eye out for other bargains, and keep that as a back up.

All in all, a successful trip! :T

    oo well done!
i made an appointment to go try on dresses in january one last time, if they dont have any i like ill order thee one, then itll be to-ing and fro-ing as to where i order it
i first tried it on where my mum lives(250 miles away) their service was faultless but its just too far to go for fittings, i also tried it on in a shop 20 miles away but i felt rushed with them, i wanted them to give me a hoop to try like the first one did but i didnt feel comfortable asking, like they were in charge not me? i dunno why!
there is a stockist that sells it in an online shop, but its also too far to go for fittings, a local shop does alterations though
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p
