  • oo well done!
i made an appointment to go try on dresses in january one last time, if they dont have any i like ill order thee one, then itll be to-ing and fro-ing as to where i order it
i first tried it on where my mum lives(250 miles away) their service was faultless but its just too far to go for fittings, i also tried it on in a shop 20 miles away but i felt rushed with them, i wanted them to give me a hoop to try like the first one did but i didnt feel comfortable asking, like they were in charge not me? i dunno why!
there is a stockist that sells it in an online shop, but its also too far to go for fittings, a local shop does alterations though

Thanks! Can't wait to get started on it, even though I haven't actually finished the mock up yet! :o

I personally would be tempted to get it from the shop with better service (assuming the price is the same in each shop), then either get the fittings to coincide with staying at your mum's for a weekend, maybe doing other wedding-related stuff, or bring it back with you and go to the local seamstress for the alterations.

i did think about going for a visit but the trains are over £100 return which needs to go in the wedding pot really!
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p
  • Well done Fiona on the fabric! It sounds stunning and what a great price! Good luck bubbles with the dress search - it is such an important thing and you need to feel happy with the shop so keep looking!

I have found my mother of the bride outfit from http://www.peridress.co.uk/bridal-originals-mother-dress-bo6an.html - it will be about £100 and it so very me. Catherine likes it too, but we have to choose the colour - Her colours are ivory gold and teal, and I think I will tone with chocolate dress with bronzy type accessories - still, we have plenty of time and I will be guided by her up to a point!
  • Have you looked at the cost of getting there for 12 weeks' time? My return ticket from Bristol to Birmingham yesterday cost £13.50, instead of the £45.70 it would have cost if we'd got tickets on the day.

I can well understand that any train fare money you would rather put towards the wedding though; in which case maybe get it from the closer shop but still use a local seamstress for alterations? That way you don't have to have too much to do with the unhelpful shop staff...

That dress is beautiful Debbie! :T I'm hoping to have a girly day out with Mum and MiL2B to shop for their outfits sometime next year :D

I'm sooooo pleased with my dress fabric though; it's a stunning oyster colour, with just a hint of a sheen (didn't want satin, which made things harder!), and drapes beautifully. And it's silk, and I (sorry, my mum :D) paid £40 for 5 and a half metres of it, which is astonishingly cheap for silk!

All in all, a successful trip! :T

Thank you! I've seen your photos, and remember thinking "that's the colour I want", and it's not a colour that I've seen very often in fabric shops (and I've been in a few...:o) so am very pleased I found it!!

H2B thinks the fabric is beautiful as well, so that's good :D

Excellent!! It isn't a very popular colour (another reason I liked it - just that bit different, but not TOO different) but a truly gorgeous colour.
I truly hope you're as happy with it as I was - I still love looking at it now!

I have already made plans to wear the dress again on our one year anniversary (if it blooming fits!) and to have some photo's taken again! lol
Can't imagine never wearing it again :(

  • Hey ladies

How are we all? Time is marching on isn't it? Exciting!! A lot of dress chat I see :) excellent!! Well I ordered my dress this morning!!

Great to go back and see it again so pleased and this time it zipped right up so got to see it properly...amazing SO happy :)

it's Phil Collins 0317 (I think I keep forgetting the number) if anyone wants a nose. Does anyone else need to buy a hoop for their's. I do it's an A line dress so the woman said it's a 116 hoop but it's £30 to hire from the shop £60 to buy and they are cheaper than the hire on ebay but I just wondered if anyone else had bought and could recommend anywhere?
