Hi ghawdon, we're date twins
10 months yesterday to go
Welcome to the other new September brides as well :hello:
Haven't done anything else since my last post really, think I'm waiting until after Xmas now and then blitz the last bits
Re. invites, we're writing a "save the date" note in our Xmas cards, and invites will be sent out Mid-March, so six months before, as a lot of people will be travelling and need to organise hotels/babysitters etc.0 -
Thanks for the webiste link White_Sapphire. I'll have a look into it!
I've spent most this weekend having a minor panic attack that our wedding guests are going to have nowhere to stay!
It's the Great North Run the day after our wedding and all the cheaper hotels in the area are booking up fast already. The hotel we're getting married at is a bit too expensive for some of our friends- theres a couple of Travel Lodge/Holiday Inn things about a 15min drive away, near the airport which I thought would be perfect. I tried ringing a couple over the weekend to see if they would offer a discount on bulk bookings but they told me they're already fully booked for that weekend!! Its the same situation with hotels in Newcastle City Centre. Even searching on the internet I've only found one or two hotels that are under £100 a night which are miles away from the venue!
On a different note, my Brownies have suggested they make my wedding invitations for me! Im not sure how much i'd trust a bunch of 7-10 year olds with invitations! I'd like to get them involved in some way though as they seemed very excited by the idea- maybe they can help make favours/table numbers/name cards??0 -

Snap but calm down when chief BM pointed out that it was up to them to sort out their accomadation and now that they have accomadation info of options they can take it from there

perhaps they could draw apicture for the wedding invites and them you could copy the ones you like and mount them on card.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -

Hi All,
Well here's my update, we have most things sorted out now thanks to our amazing planner who we met with a few weeks ago.
We are having a bit of an orange colour scheme, so i'm having orange Gerbras with white roses in the middle for my flowers, BM is having orange gerbras & the men are having white roses for their button hole. My Mum is having an orange gerbra on her wrist:D
On the day me & BM will be going to my parents hotel in the morning to get away from OH as still want a bit of tradtion. We are having the hairdresser come there for us ladies.
So the plan:D
We get married at 4.15pm & have until 5pm in the chapel grounds for photos etc, we will then move onto a beach platform for drinks & nibbles for an hour. At 6pm we have a champagne boat crusie back round the bay to Pefkos for our reception. Where the boat docks it's about a 5min steady walk to the restaurant so Best Man will lead everyone round & we will stay behind & have a few more photos at the boat & then wonder round. We are having buck fiz for the welcome drink at about 7.15pm & then everyone will make their way upstairs for the meal. We can't have any entertainment as we are not completly filling the restaurant, but they are allowing us to have a saxaphonist play for an hour at some point in the evening, not sure when to do this yet. We are going to have the speeches & champagne toasts first so that everyone can then relax & enjoy themselves. We have a great traditional greek menu with a meza starter & for mains a choice of 4 meat dishes, 1 fish & 2 vegi dishes. We also have a choice of 3 desserts. I need to get people to choose before the day but at least they have a wide choice. We are providing a crafa of wine been 2 people & then after that they are on there own. The restaurant is amazing it's right by the beach so you get an amazing sunset & then can see all round the bay even when it's dark, you can hear the sea in the background so should be a good atmoshere. We are hoping once the meal is finished people will just sit back & relax & soak up the atmosphere of the place & chat & won't rush off home as there is no entertainment. It's easy to sit for hours in greece just enjoying the anbiance(sp) so fingers crossed it will fill the evening.
The restarant will put white tablecloths on & we are having orange table runners with big hurricane laterns with candles & scatter crystle for the tables. For favours we are having mini bottles of Ouzo & Mataxa in orange bags so one guest will get Ouzo & partner will get Mataxa:D
We are having the reception at Kyma in Pefkos & hopefully below is some pics.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
