Hi all im new to this thread. I wish i could start right back from page 1 & have a real good read of this thread but i just dont have time although i will try to over the weekend...

We booked our wedding last week and are getting married on Sat 1st September 2012. Today is our 11 year anniversary we will have been together almost 12 years by the time we get married. Im 29 years old & my partner is 30.

I have made up a massive spreadsheet or everything i could think of that i would have liked at my wedding & it comes in at just over £23,000 **gulp** im planning on being to have it all minus maybe a few minor things for about £14,000, the cheaper the better as i have 40 weeks i worked out tonight to save like mad before balances are due 4 weeks before the wedding..

We are getting married in a county hotel. Our colour scheme is black & white with a bit of shabby chic thrown in.. Our wedding is a big one 106 day guests & a extra 60 at night..

Not sure what else to say LOL but look forward to getting to know you all over the next 10ish months

Welcome, congratulations and happy anniversary Gemma! :j That's five of us for the 1st, now :D

It's frightening how much things add up isn't it? You have a very good budget though, so as long as you shop around for everything and never accept the first quote you will be fine! I'd say to sit down with your fiance and go through everything that is important to each of you for the day, and build your priorities around that. So if great food is a priority then maybe shop around for a cheaper photographer, etc. Loads of tips on this board, so have a read through!

Love the sound of your theme and colours, by the way!

But we won't have any cutlery etc out either as we're not having a formal sit-down, just a BBQ buffet and enough seating for everyone... I think I'm going to have to try it out at the venue for myself... and actually it's only going to be an extra £7 for the additional fabric if I do go with two so I don't know why I'm worrying about it so much!!! :o

Good to know I'm not the only one with monthly to-do lists!! I have sooo many lists that I think I need a list of lists!!! :rotfl:

Ooooh those bridesmaids dresses are lovely Seventh! Really pretty.

And hello wanchai - I've been lurking on your other thread & following your progress :hello:That dress is gorgeous! I really love the detail of the sash & buckle! My shoes were an ebay bargain BNIB and are soooo comfy. I had to take them to my mums now because I kept "wearing them in" around the house - in fact you'd do well to find me not wearing them lol!!

I've put some pictures of my dress up now on the Dream Dress thread

Oooh, your dress is gorgeous altogether!!! :A:A:A Thanks for reading my thread, am happy to hear that :)

I love my 'to do' lists as well, they rock!!! Yay!

Welcome Gemma! Hope you manage to bring it all in under budget xxx

  • Hello ladies (and any gents!!)

Just popping in to say hello. Not been doing much weddingy stuff...well not for my own wedding had 2 on Saturday though :) gave me wedding fever and made me excited all over again!!

Appointment is booked to order the dress for 10 December eeek!! So trying to be good on diet etc. Difficult to know what to do once it's ordered as don't want to lose LOADS more weight really as it will just need taken in. It hasn't been falling off anyway at the moment I probably shouldn't worry eh? Lace up back so can be tighter/looser as needed and there's always room for adjustments aren't there?

Hope you are all well and enjoying your wedmin :T

  • Hi all, just popping by to say hello! We put the deposit down for our marquee this morning - I hate the thought of spending that much money (seriously, this site has turned me into SUCH a spend-thrift!) but OMG the marquee is going to be AMAZING. It's huge, and will seat 120 guests for the meal, plus another 60 or so in the evening - OH managed to get the dancefloor thrown in for free which makes me very happy :D

So far we've got our photography and entertainment for free (both friends - the photographer is great at weddings and is doing it as a gift, and the entertainment is our friend who is a professional singer and his guitar! Followed by an iPod master mix by OH :p) so am pleased with that. The next big expense is the catering... gulp.

I'm keen to lose some weight for the wedding (aren't we all?!) so last month I started a running plan. It's working slowly but surely - the main aim at the moment is just to get fit, so that come January I'll be in good shape to start kickboxing classes up again and really go to town on the weight loss!

Hope everyone's planning is going well :T

2 weddings in one day?? Blimey...

I wouldn't worry too much about dieting, if you're happy with the way you look in your dress. If you do want to lose a few pounds then the lace up back will accommodate that to a certain extent, but enjoy the odd cake and chocolate bar too....

Sounds like you're being very MSE with your marquee if you've got things thrown in for free! :T I still can't quite get my head around our budget, but I keep telling myself that we are paying for family and friends who have supported us to celebrate with us, which helps!

I've finalised my portion of the guest list, or at least the all-day guests - I've been a bit strict and not invited some cousins who I either would struggle to pick out in a line up or who I just don't really talk to at family get-togethers - and it's lower than I anticipated, so that saves a few quid!! Just waiting for H2B to confirm his guests - he's done the list, but we've sent it to parents before we make it official, as both sets are contributing financially. Luckily neither are being demanding in terms of wanting us to invite certain people, so we should be fine.

And, we gave notice today! He can't back out now.....well, all right, he can, but he wouldn't dare... ;) It did bring into sharp relief how much we're spending; the actual cost to legally get married (which we're doing the day before our wedding :p) is £110.50, so the amount we're spending on 'extras' is, when you take the honeymoon into account, nearly 100 times the basic cost!! Eeeep...... It will be worth it, and neither of us would have it any other way, as it's important to have family and friends there, but still......

Hope everyone else is all good! :)

    Hi All,

Just catching back up after a few days away:D

Welcome Gemma, look forward to hearing your plans.

We have sat down & worked out what we hope we can have for flowers & meeting our wedding planner on Saturday - can't wait we are so excited:j By the end of our meeting we will have a full plan & timing for our day & everything will be booked & we will know the full cost( well that's assuming that Greece stay in the Euro:mad:, if not the wedding planner will have to get all new costs back in the Drachma & won't know the costs until we find out how much that is going to be worth, so we are keeping our fingers crossed they stay in the Euro)

OH has finally asked his friend last night to be best man so we now have all the bridal party sorted:D
Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.
