  • Well Catherine's bm dresses arrived and they are gorgeous. They are a bit small for size, the 18 will definitely not fit the moh, so Catherine is getting her an autograph dress from m&s which is very similar. The others might need bigger sizes but 2 of them live quite a distance away (in different directions) so it's hard to get them to try on the dresses. We have therefore bought the next sizes up as well, so if they need them they can have the larger size. So we have bought a total of 8 dresses for 4 bridesmaids! They were so very cheap it's ok, and if we put them back up on ebay or preloved we could even get more back than we paid - so quite mse in the long run!
  • Hi All,

I hope the wedding planning is going well for everyone? Everything seems to be coming together for us nicely :)

I went and tried my dress on again at the weekend with my teal shoes (£8 from ebay!) They look great together but I've realised I need the length of the dress taking up or i'll be tripping over it!! Luckily OH's Mum is a great seamstress and she is going to do it for me, she's also making the cravats for us from some material that matches the bridesmaid dress which she found at a market.

We've had the menu's from the venue through for 2012 which are very different to the ones we had seen before... We're struggling to choose and prices have gone up a little (which is to be expected I guess). But the venue has agreed to arrange a tasting session so we can try a few things before making our choices which is awesome!

We've decided we'd like to do the Zoo tour for all the guests rather than just the day time guests to make the most of the venue. So I think the plan is a 3 course meal for ceremony guests (60), then in the evening (100 guests total) a zoo tour followed by sandwiches and potato wedges with cheese and cake for afters.

AND we've got our rings! We ordered them in the jewellery quarter and they were made especially for us. I LOVE THEM! I've had to leave them at my mums to stop me getting mine out and trying it on! :)

Right... excitement over, back to work!
    Amy

    Hi,

Debbie, sounds a bit of a nightmare with the BM dresses but at least you have time to get it sorted.

Amy the zoo tour sounds a brillant idea, i'm sure all your guests will love it & will make your day very memorable:j Menu are always difficult I think, it must be so hard choosing & trying to please everyone, but good you can have a taste test before choosing. Great news on the wedding rings it's so exciting getting them, mine is at my Mum too for that reason otherwise i'd keep trying it on:D

We met with our wedding planner on Sat & booked everything:j I'm just waitng for offical confirmation for everything & then I will let you in on the plans but it's going to be great. We also got the menu for our venue & all the guests will have 5 choices:j We just need to let them know 2 days before what we need which is great. I'll try & find some pics of the venue too to show you.

Must go lunchtime is over now:o
Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

Oooh it looks like things are really coming together for everyone - I can't believe it's only 10 months away, how quickly is time flying?!?!

We gave our notice of intention to marry on Friday, and also tried on some wedding rings in a high street jeweller (with no intention of buying, just to get an idea for OH of the style he wants & size he needs). We're looking at a few online stores now to see where the best value can be got - looking at either bandsoflove.co.uk or thebeautifulcompany.co.uk I think.

We also went out to Bakewell on Sunday and have provisionally chosen a location for what, I guess, is the wedding breakfast part of the day so I need to call & arrange that this week.

Also having a bit of a 'mare with the mother & the flowers (sounds like the title of a horror story doesn't it :rotfl:) I have an ivory foam rose bouquet which I really like but was considering ditching for one in pale pink & ivory... Mum has never been keen on me having fake flowers (even though I said I don't want to spend money on something that will be thrown away, and that I've always wanted to place my wedding bouquet on my brother's grave), and then on Thursday she sent me a link to wedding bouquets by David Austin Roses  Problem is I clicked on the link and they carry a variety called "Rosalind" (my name) which is the exact shade of pink as our colour scheme... I hate to think what the price will be but I have emailed them to find out as it seems like "fate" (though I'm sure that was mum's plan all along!)
  • Everyone is really getting organised! I traded my clubcard vouchers for double vouchers on Tesco Finest wines and champagnes and yesterday I bought all the red wine we will need for £31!. I checked and it will keep for 2 years so it's ok to get now. Next vouchers issue if they are still doing the exchange I will get all the white wine, then for the one after that all the bubbly stuff - must remember to always shop at Tesco and get my fuel there too for the duration! Hopefully this will really keep the alcohol costs down. We have loads of stuff already for the wedding now, only trouble is my spare room is starting to look like a Christmas bazaar with all the stuff I am storing!

Well done on the wine-buying, Debbie! :T:money::T
Our flat is starting to fill up as well...So far we have:
    - 50 doilies to make lanterns from
    - lots of ribbon in shades of purple, orange/peach and turquoise
    - four boxes of Social Stirrers
    - 100 5"x5" scraps of fabric in cream and gold to wrap favours in
    - my wedding ring :D
    - a pearl necklace
    - pearl earrings
    - three brooches; one will be pinned to a ribbon headband, and one might be used to augment my necklace. The other I will sell, or keep for non-wedding wearing
    - two net curtains, to make lace bunting from
    - seven packets of sweet pea seeds, plus all the toilet rolls I've been saving to sow them in
    and I think that's it! :p

Tonight H2B and I are officially announcing our date; most people probably know already, but we hadn't made it public in case people who might expect an invite don't get one! We're just going to phone round, send emails, and get addresses of extended family to send them a quick note.

Ooh, and I just realised that I missed the 300-day mark; it was Sunday just gone! Only 297 days to go.....

How are you all doing, ladies?

  • getting really frustrated at the forms for the registar not being done by the venue! (I've checked whether I can do it myself but aparently it hasd to be the through the venue). On the positive dad is going to sort out and pay booze for us! (not that I asked or exspected it). Loads for family friends have ofered to help with things which is nice I wish I could finalises things with the resigstar so i can move things forwards.

I've only just found this forum- really want to go back through and read all the posts now!

I'm getting married on the 15th september in Newcastle.

I've made a spreadsheet of all the costs but so far all i seem to be doing is adding things to it!!

We've sorted our venue, photographer and honeymoon so far. I've ordered my dress.

My mum is a cake maker so she's doing the cake. She's also helping me make invitations/menus/placecards etc and the centrepieces for the tables (she's very artistic thankfully!)

I ordered a colour/fabric chart off an internet site for the bridesmaids dresses which arrived the other day- all I need to do now is find a bridesmaid who is free to look over it with and look at dress styles. I have 4 bridesmaids and they're all spread across the country!

I got engaged in March and can't believe how quickly the time has gone since then- I suddenly feel very unorganised!

Welcome and congratulations! :hello: You've been added to our list on the first post; yours is the most popular date!

You seem pretty organised to me, although I agree that the time just seems to be flying past at a great rate!

Any chance of a sneak peek at the dress? :D
