Also I think a white shirt is not an unreasonable request everyone has a white shirt surely? Perhaps try to haggle a bit more with the one where the groom goes free or haggle with the other and ask for a discount as you don't need the ties/hankies and see what they say?

Probably a good idea to make sure anyone who might be standing next to you in the photos polishes their shoes at least a couple of days before the wedding, otherwise you might end up with shoe polish on your dress! :eek:TheSeventh wrote: »Just buy some bits and go for it - you'll surprise yourself!
My OH is getting used to coming into the living room to find me surrounded by a sea of crafting stuffs. he just says "weddinging?" and i say, guiltily "...yup..." and he grins and clears a space to sit, hehe.
Haa! That'll be me soon enough, can't wait to get crafting!
I love the new verb 'weddinging' that your H2B has invented - I think I may steal it
Scotsbride, thanks for the gerberas idea - I do love gerberas, but might start getting all OCD about buttonhole flowers being different from bouquet flowers...Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Morning All,
No nothing back from the venue yet, the planner said she would chase them if they had not come back to them in a few days. It's still really busy out there at the moment & they have a daytime beach bar below the restaurant as well so guess they are busy but all the same .. I want to know now:rotfl:
My flower plan is to have gerberas I want them in a bright burnt orange, H2B wants white roses for the button holes so we are not going to match flowers at all, but at least the colours will go & he would probably look daft with a big gerbera on his waistcoat:laugh:
The invitations when in the post yesterday so hoping we will be able to get a better idea of numbers in the next month. When I get sorted i'll post a pic of them.
Well it's nearly the end of September so by this time next year most of us will be married:eek:Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -

Thanks hun, I'm not bothered about the colours being an exact match - it adds to their beauty as far as I'm concerned - just the that style of the flowers would be very different.Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

I'm sorry, £12k on flowers????? Was it Elton John's wedding? :rotfl:
Scotsbride, join the wedding diet thread - there's loads of support on there.
Orchids are one of the easier flowers to get realistic looking fakes (if that makes sense?!)
Yes, 12k on flowers... you don't even want to know what the rest of the wedding was like, all I'll say is that there were thrones at the top table!!!!
Anyhow, OH is away for a few days (and this has nothing to do with him not buying me an anniversary card on Monday - promise ) so I'm in full uninterrupted wedding mode for the next few days, starting with Googling for centrepiece ideas.
Edit to add: White_Sapphire, I picked some sweet peas from my garden this afternoon and they look so pretty (just shoved them in a plain old jam jar) and smell delicious!! I thought of you as I was cutting them0 -

LOL! Thanks hunThey do smell stunning, don't they? My allotment neighbour has some and I always inhale deeply every time I walk past!! Good to know that decent fake orchids shouldn't be too hard to come by - could only find silk rather than foam on ebay though. Still, plenty of time!

Quite right Stef, sounds like you needed a break!
We had a visit with a photographer this evening, who is lovely, and we really like her style - minimal posed group shots, lots of relaxed photos, and she makes sure to get good photos of all the guests too. We've got another one to see on Sunday, whose photos on his website are amazing, so it will probably be a choice between those two. Which is great, cos we were both worrying about photography - it can be very hard to find someone within a small budget whose style you like, and we were thinking we might have to settle for OK photos, IYSWIM.
Yay!
