Hey everyone sorry haven't fallen off the face of the earth I've been away on my holibobs!! Stayed in a lovely village called Birchover in the Peak District. I did read briefly last night who is getting married in Bakewell again? We were 4 miles from there it's a really beautiful area and Bakewell is just lovely especially the tarts
So started to get a bit panicky and thought I needed to do a list...then I looked at one I'd pulled out of a magazine and the only think I haven't done that they had on the list is flowers which I'm not in any rush for as I don't really know what I want.
Whoever asked the girls all tried on the Bridesmaid dresses from Debenhams and LOVED them so that's a big tick off the list and a massive saving from buying official "bridesmaid" dresses such as Dessy so I'm really pleased. They are so pretty and different too just what we wanted.
Bought a few labels from ebay last night to pop onto our sweetie jars so cute love buying stuff like that. I did look to see if buying blank and stamping ourselves would be cheaper but it wouldn't be much different and really wouldn't look as good either.
Next on the list is to start shopping for OH kilt outfit as we are going to buy him one as he's never owned one before and will be really special every time he wears it afterwards (unlike me...whose dress will prob never be worn again!)
Also been mini moon hunting so found some lovely cottages etc. in Lake District so just need to get a decision made and can book that. So difficult though they are so lovely!
Got my 10k next Sunday eek this time next week I'll be done! And then going to really concentrate on diet to lose this next half stone then can order dress and then can get accessories ordered up....forcing myself not to look as want to order dress before I do anything else!
Hope everyone is well this month really has flown in...I bet the next 11 will too!! xxxWhat's fur ye won't go by ye!0 -

Don't want to mess up the wedding cos i had to revise, and don't want to fail my exams (and lose my job, eep!) because i was wedding-planning!
I'm usually not this organised at all!
Crumbs! I'm also a student, but as the course is modular there is no rest, or easing in at the start of the year! Hence spreading wedding planning over the course of the year. I finish at the end of June so will have 2 months to get all the final bits done without having to squeeze them in between studying! That's not very long at all really, but it's the main reason we chose September to get married, as it's still hopefully nice weather and enough time after the course to not induce heart failure...joanneinwonderland wrote: »Hey everyone sorry haven't fallen off the face of the earth I've been away on my holibobs!! We went to the Lake District earlier this year - it's stunning isn't it?
This time next week you'll be putting your feet up and drinking a very well deserved cup of tea - best of luck for next Sunday! What time does it start? I'll try to send some energetic vibes your way...
It's quite scary how quickly September has gone, and I feel like I've hardly done anything! Still so much to doooo........ *and breathe*Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

WHOOOOO! Yesterday I went to a Bridal Factory Outlet in Leicester with my mum and Bridesmaid and we bought my dress!! It was a bargain, half the price of regular bridal shops! I tried on 5 dresses with the third dress being THE dress that made me go eep! It's nothing like I'd imagined my perfect dress would be, but I love it! Keeping it at my Mum's so I don't get too tempted to keep trying it on
Nice to see people's lists and plans coming together, I want this year to hurry up....******************************************

Hello Ladies,
Hope you are all well, just back from our two weeks holiday in Pefkos/Lindos. Spent the last few days catching up on what i've missed. Sounds like you have all been busy & things are coming along well.
So we had a wonderful holiday checked out loads of restaurants for where to hold our reception, gosh it's hard! There are so many wonderful places & they all have their positives, everytime we found one we liked it was right this is our number one & then we found another:D
We visited the chapel in Lindos & it's so pretty it made it all seem real been there & I actually felt a bit weepy. We saw a few weddings while we were there & the brides looked lovely. We also met with our wedding planner for a coffee one evening & she is wonderful:j Gave us so many ideas we were really excited & she is very good. We have decided on our top 3 venues, one in Pefkos & two in Lindos. We have emailed our planner back the other day with our top choice & she has contacted the venue so we are just keeping our fingers crossed no one else has booked it.
The invitations have arrived & I've just addreesed them all up so posting them tomorrow:j Hopefully we will be able to get people to decide if they are joining us so we can get a grip on numbers.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
joanneinwonderland, it's me getting married in Bakewell
Glad you liked it there, my parents live about 45mins drive from there, it's not the closest reg office to them but it's the nicest!
I dragged OH to a wedding fair today and he was very well behaved :rotfl: I found a sample of some invitations similar to how I want mine to be, and they looked stunning and not too plain which I was worried about. The woman was charging £3.75 per invite though  Got some good ideas for table centrepieces too. OH just kept saying "I'm sure you'd be able to do this through ebay for a fraction of the cost, you're more than capable"I love him!! :rotfl:
fawny - sounds like you had a fab time, fingers crossed your venues are available!0 -
Aw Roz congrats Bakewell was just so lovely we all visited and liked it. MMmm you could have tarts for pudd (wish we'd taken one home...)
We've just booked mini moon :T Very excited!! Difficult as we wanted to go Monday to Monday and a few places were totally inflexible but found one which was a bit dearer but very lush. Big honeymoon will be a Euro trip the summer after.
Been looking at silk flowers this afternoon. There is someone kind of local but good places online too. I guess somewhere I can go see the quality is good and now I have an idea of prices. Anyone else know what they are doing for flowers?

Where are you going on minimoon? I'm so nosey!
As for flowers, hoping to grow my own - I've got lots of sweet pea seeds which will be sown in January-ish, and I also want some orchids - you can buy plants from Ikea for £5, so I'll buy a few, but they're the kind of flower that you don't need to use much of to make an impact. A couple of trailing stems in my bouquet, some on the cake and maybe some in the centrepieces. That'll do! Fortunately our venue has lovely standing arrangements anyway so don't have to worry about that, and both venues are beautiful so don't need loads of flowers! If you're looking for fake have you thought about foam flowers? I've seen photos on this board and genuinely would not be able to tell them from the real thing.Hello Ladies,

Ooh, White_Sapphire, I hope he doesn't see this board and realise how well behaved he is! He might start asking to be let out of his cage more often :rotfl:
Just a word of caution regarding orchids, they squash VERY easily and droop faster than other flowers. For the uses you've said they should be OK - just make sure you have a vase filled with water handy all day for your bouquet so you can perk them up if they start to wilt. I would definitely advise against having them as buttonholes (I know you haven't mentioned using them for this though) as after one hug they go all floppy and look pantsI went to a wedding not so long ago where they spent around 12k on flowers (don't ask, this is the kind of wedding I go too ) and they had orchid bouquets, buttonholes and corsages and they all fell apart before the wedding breakfast

I'm having foam roses - they look more realistic than silk IMO (well, I've only found really rubbish silk ones to be honest). I bought a bouquet from a lady on ebay but having second thoughts about it (it's all ivory and I've changed my mind to wanting ivory & pale pink) so think I'm going to order a new one and then deconstruct the plain one and use it to make buttonholes.
Does anybody know whether men & women should have different buttonholes? We have 14 guests to the ceremony & I want them all to have buttonholes, so I'll need 15 in all - groom, 5 male guests & 9 female guests)0 -

Next on the list is to start shopping for OH kilt- OH doesn't want to do this despite everyone saying he'd look good!I don't I just want him there happy and comfortable and smart.
And then going to really concentrate on diet to lose this next half stone. Any tips greatly appreciated as want to lose 7Kgs and having trouble giving up cake chocolate crisps. particularly as everyone at work brings in yummy home made cakes!

Tip avoid any which have yellowing buds. water with rain water if possible or soak about once a week a let the water run out also make sure that light gets to the roots and don't cut the roots if the y grow over the edge of the pot unless the plant is falling over. ochids like a humid place kitchen and bathrooms away from drafts are best!
