Hi i'm a sept 2012 bride too we're getting married 22nd, we have venue and church booked, dj and table/chairs covers done. wedding favours have been the funniest things to do we are having aftershave miniatures for the men and jewellery for the ladies (only costume ones tho) small personalised mini whiskey or wine bottles and small sweetie bags in a little basket for each guest havent actually cost a lot to make so pleased with the results so far.
Flower girl is done (dress, shoes and little wand) all the ushers and groom etc are having the debenhams deal 4 outfits and the groom goes free. asked about my son being page boy if they would include him as one of the four they said yes. my dress, shoes are brought so just need veil or tiara (haven't decided yet) photographer is local but she will beat any quote i've had so bonus, florist is beginning to look expensive even with seasonal flowers, cake is from m&s on sale honeymoon i will be searching groupon.com for the getaways bridesmaids have got to wait as one is only 14 years old so still growing. cars is difficult on a budget it seems and would also like to know if anyone is having trouble with the little details like first song that we dance too? we love thunder (we're into rock music!) love walked in but if anyone can suggest any nice ones ill try them out.0 -
Welcome beckistar! :hello:
Wow, you've got loads done already! As for the little bits you're not sure about:
- Flowers: check out the make your own flowers thread on this board, or ask the florist what she can do on a budget. Obviously different flowers cost different amounts even within those that are in season, so a good florist should be able to suggest cheaper alternatives. Smaller bouquets, fewer arrangements or arrangements that can be moved from the ceremony to the reception, non-floral table centrepieces or fake flowers (I've heard good things about the foam ones) are all ways to cut down a bit.
- Cars: forget the wedding car companies, it's daylight robbery!! Get in touch with local classic car clubs, contact local taxi firms and ask about their executive service, or make sure you have paper and pen on you at all times when you go out; if you see a lovely car,pop a note under their windscreen wiper asking if they would like to help you out.
- Little details: Not got there yet! But remember that it's you and your H2B's wedding, so if you want to walk in, and have your first dance, to rock music, then do it!Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Help!
Am I able to post a photo in a post on here? I'm desperate to try and track down a photo that I saved from the internet (from a wedding blog I think) that I stupidly didn't save with any info as to where it came from. I was hoping that if I could post it, someone might recognise it. I saved it because the dress is JUST what I am looking for.... I remember thinking at the time that I wondered whether I should email and ask the make but didn't, and now I'm kicking myself :S
Hoping that if I could post the photo another bride might recognise it from a website/blog? Or recognise the dress?
Any advice as to how to go about tracking it down much appreciated....
LucyVery excited to be marrying my partner in crime for the last 7 years in September 2012 :jNo longer a midlandsfairy... back living in the sunny south!0 -
Yes you can midlands fairy, use photo bucket and copy the img link to the reply box here, preview your post first to make sure it's not to big, if it is just resize it smaller on photo bucket before copying on here
its a pain editing your pics name off websites to give info but it saves this happening as I've found aswell, hope we can help xxI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -

Hope everyone is doing well - I ordered some sweet pea seeds the other day in cream, purple and peach - if they turn out well they will be my wedding flowers! I'll have a contingency plan in place just in case something happens to them though
Sow them around about janauary/feb in old toliet rolls.plant them out in these they will rot down and feed your plant when they have approximately about six or more leaves on them pick out the tops. this makes them bushier bushier plants should mean more flowers!also keep cutting them to keep them going! I'm still picking mine now!

Looking forwards to trying on some dresses with my sister on the 15th. question to white sapphire if I find a simple dress is it possible to add a lace over lay to the dress easily as spoke to a lady at a certain cancer charity shop and their dresses start at £45 obviously that doesn't include cleaning and alterations. but made me think i might be able to alter something.Hi i'm a sept 2012 bride too we're getting married 22nd, we have venue and church booked, dj and table/chairs covers done. wedding favours have been the funniest things to do we are having aftershave miniatures for the men and jewellery for the ladies (only costume ones tho) small personalised mini whiskey or wine bottles and small sweetie bags in a little basket for each guest havent actually cost a lot to make so pleased with the results so far.

hello*waves* wow I feel so behind everyone! Songs go with the ones that mean the most to you or ask your guests about the song that reminders them of you or that was played at their wedding.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -

Short answer - yes! Shouldn't be a problem for a decent seamstress. It's a fair amount of work though, and good lace by the metre can be very expensive- just to make you aware. Well worth looking into though, and still very MSE!
Haaa! I just tried to submit this post and was told that it was too short; I'm guessing writing within quote margins doesn't count..... :rotfl:
Should be enough waffle now....Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Catherine, I think you win the prize for Most Organised Bride Ever!!
My To Do list covers about 4 pages of A4. It does include everything though, like things that can only be done in the last week/on the day itself!
We've contacted a load of photographers, but most of the ones who've responded so far are outside our budget! I've found one we really like who is within though, so hopefully we'll get an email soon.

heh - well, our wedding comes three weeks after my end-of-year assignments and exams, PLUS, my huge scary "fail-this-and-you-lose-your-job" practical exam and the deadline for the accompanying portfolio, so I'm desperately trying to get as much sorted as early as possible so that I can concentrate on uni and work in August! Don't want to mess up the wedding cos i had to revise, and don't want to fail my exams (and lose my job, eep!) because i was wedding-planning!
I'm usually not this organised at all!Life on a shoestring!0
