    Me again:o

Our wedding planner has just been in touch to say that we have our dream venue confirmed:j:j:j

I'm so pleased, we did have a second choice but really wanted this one as it's amazing & the location is perfect, right next to the sea & even when it's dark you can see all the lights round the bay & listen to the waves it's magical:j Can you tell i'm happy :rotfl:

Wahooo congrats :j:j Sounds amazing - I wish I could get married by the sea but my grandmother wouldn't make it abroad and I don't think Skeggy has the same ambience as Lindos :rotfl:

    WOOHOOOO!!!!

That's great news, it sounds absolutely beautiful! Are we allowed to know what the venue is so that that we can ooh and aah at it, or are you keeping it on the hush hush for now?

  • My OH and I had both sets of parents round for dinner last night to talk wedding plans - all very exciting. We went through our wedding budget with them and revealed our estimated total cost, and after picking both sets of parents up off the floor, we reminded them that the average price for a wedding is 21K, so actually doing for under ten grand was remarkably reserved of us :rotfl:

Overall I think they were very pleased that we had obviously thought about lots of ways to keep the costs down, and actually suggested that we give ourselves a bit more leeway with a few of the bits that they thought we'd underestimated on.

However, OH's parents were less than keen on the idea we'd had for table centrepieces, which is to have a different species of praying mantis in a decorative jar on each table, and every table being named after the latin name of the mantis :D They're rather traditional folks and I don't think the idea went down too well...

Oh well, next job is to tweak the budget according to their suggestions, and get a 'wedding account' and CC set up! Has anyone had any good (or bad!) experiences with certain bank accounts? Any in particular to recommend for this purpose?

martins got a board about best(and worst) b/acc's, you want an ISA though, hes also got a guide to those as well,at the top of the screen are all the titles for the different things he advises on, click on them to take you there

praying mantis? really? oo i dont like creepy crawlies, they give me the heeby jeebies! x
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p
  • I'm intrigued about the praying mantis idea! I'm all for people having things that reflect their interests, so to be honest I'd say go for it, although some people do seriously get the heebie jeebies with insects, so would having one in the middle of their table make them uncomfortable?

Sorry, no help whatsoever am I?! :o

  • i think it's a great idea - provided the insects won't be upset/harmed by all the commotion! there'll be LOTS of people about, probably picking the jars up for a better look, lots of talking, laughing, etc. might be quite distressing for the little critters!

if you can do it humanely, go for it!
    Life on a shoestring!
  • We have found our photographer! :j:j

He's lovely, does STUNNING photography, and is charging us £450 plus £40 travel costs for five hours and a copyright-free dvd of all the images! :money::j *happy dance*

I bought some card and tissue paper today for a prototype invite, so will let you all know how that goes... :D

  • Back from our Honeymoon and just wanted to drop in and say we had the most incredible day for our wedding. Everything fell into place, despite my wife keeping me sweating for 20 minutes at the Church due to traffic! It always sounded like a cliche to me before, but I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. Words can't describe the feelings I went through when I looked over my shoulder and saw Rachel walking down the aisle.

Cant wait for our photos and video to be finished now!
  • Hi! Congratulations to you and Rachel on your wedding, and thanks for coming back to tell us about it :T

Can't wait to see piccies... :D
