He's lovely, does STUNNING photography, and is charging us £450 plus £40 travel costs for five hours and a copyright-free dvd of all the images! :money::j *happy dance*
I bought some card and tissue paper today for a prototype invite, so will let you all know how that goes...
He sounds great, thats really good news.
We are keeping the venue secret for a few weeks until we meet the planner & have a full programme to tell people, but I will post a link to it then.
We have had a few RSVPs back - i'm raacing home everynight hoping there in the post.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
Aha, found the section on bank accounts - thanks bubbles! This site just keeps on getting more useful!
I should probably explain the praying mantis idea... both OH and I are very keen on our creepy-crawlies, we practically have a zoo at home!
We thought that mantises would be a nice table decoration, as they can be stunningly beautiful - even people who don't like creepy crawlies are usually bowled over by them - just look at these beauties:
OH also does bug shows for kiddies so our critters are used to being handled etc. Lots of people have asked whether we're going to have tarantulas as bridesmaids and a lizard as a ring bearer, so I reckon our guests are just going to be relieved that this is all they're going to be confronted with! :rotfl:"Debt is the slavery of the free."

Hi,
We saw a praying mantis in the bar when we were on holiday in Rhodes the other week, it's the first time i'd seen one. They are very interesting I spent ages just looking at it. It's a great idea & some personal to you:DMarried the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
nature fab! I must be like you lizbristol a get a kick out of it be it bugs (although not maggots unless they turn into lovely hoverflys and not caterpillars that eat my collieflowers!) and plants and fungi:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

Liz, those mantises are amazing!! The one on theleft looks like it's been painted!
Not sure what tablecentres to have. One of my ideas is to have a couple of books tied together with ribbon or lace - either classic romance novels or books on subjects one or other of us is interested in. I also like the idea of having tealights or flowers in vases/jam jars wrapped in lace which is secured with an art deco brooch.
I could have vases on top of books of course, but would that mean spending too much time and/or money buying so many bits; vases, books (could use some we already have but we probably won't have enough that would fit the 'look'), lace, ribbon, brooches......
Haven't even consulted H2B yet; he might have completely different ideas, or just not like mine!!
Besides, I'm only supposed to be looking for DJs at the mo, but I'm finding that a bit boring, so have reverted back to pretty things again!Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Hello Laides,
How's it going? Anything exciting happening with you?
The rsvp's are slowing coming in, wish people would send them back a bit quicker:p I can see us having to chase some people as we need to have a really good idea of number for 5th Nov as we meet with our planner then to book everything.
I bought my tiara on Saturday, the local beauty place where I go has opened a new shop hiring out clothes for special occassions & are also selling shoes, jewleery & tiara etc. So I went to the opening & had some champagne:D & we started trying the tiaras on me & I fell in love with one, but it was just missing some orange/amber colours but they are bespoke which I didn't know so she said no problem we can change that so I ordered it. They have sent it back to the girl that makes them & she is changing the beads on it for me, cost me £35. No idea if thats good or not as had not looked at any before but it's lovely:D
Hope all the planning is coming on well.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
I think that sounds like a great price for a tiara, fawny!
Not been doing much lately; supposed to be looking at DJs but have been reading another thread on here where some people are saying that anything over £280 is too much, and others are saying that you get what you pay for. Which is true of course, and the last thing I want is some rubbish DJ with 80s-style lights and no tunes dating from post-1995 , but I was really hoping that we wouldn't have to pay loads for a good DJ! Gah...... it's all so complicated, and I have no idea how to choose, what a reasonable cost should be (I was hoping we wouldn't have to pay as much as £280 actually), how will I know if they're any good or not, what represents good value for money......
Not enjoying this bit of planning! Harrumph.Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012
