  • Wow 400 days sounds so few....that means we are 407 haha!

Exciting you have ordered your ring I am hoping to pay off quite a bit of the rings balance in January. Hoping to do it on the sly as a wee surprise to H2B so secretly saving up money.

Good news today got paid more than I thought from my old job yipee! Meant an extra £150 in the ISA so that's 24% saved now! Need to update the old signature now! Planning a quiet time next 6 months to get a load of money saved away scary!

Start new job on Tuesday so scared! And a bit nervous saying oh I need off for 3 weeks next year! Hopefully they won't mind.

We also made a prototype invite today with some bits and bobs very pleased with them they are looking great going to print off some photo's tomorrow so we can see them totally glossed up and can then arrange getting all the bits and pieces. Plan is on cold winter evenings to sit in and do them together so we'll see how that works out....

Finally the sun has come out in Aberdeen!! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Ooh, good luck with your new job!

Can we please have a peek at your prototype invite? I'm looking forward to designing ours - I've got a vague idea of cutting a design out of the card and putting a contrasting colour paper behind it to show through - lots of experimentation and general messing about to be done - can't wait! Sitting in on cold winter evenings to do it sounds likea good plan, preferably with a glass of something boozy to hand :D

  • Yes no prob I will take a snap tomorrow we're both chuffed as it turned out how we are both thinking we just need to get some photo's printed tomo to do like a final "draft" then if we're happy I'm going to order photo's online and get the card sorted.

Total thought doing them ourselves but the cost to purchase is just too much in my view esp. when I don't need to pay for card or paper :money:

We made 2 different ones but both agreed straight away on one :T

I don't know...does vino mix with sticking things straight?!

Good luck with the job Joanne :j:j

You got me thinking about rings...OH and I saw the ones we want in the jewellery shop where my engagement ring is from. But I have had a thought, my mum and step dad bought me a thick gold bracelet for my 21st bday, only worn it ha handful amount of times, so was thinking of putting it to use and getting my ring made out of it, instead of weighing it in....therefore will wear my wedding ring and 21st bday present forever!

LOL! I suppose you'd haveto drink quite slowly or the quality of the work could deteriorate a little...unless you were going for the rustic look? :p

That's a lovely idea, if you are sure that you don't want to keep the bracelet as a memento of your 21st. Have a chat with a couple of jewellers though - I was thinking of getting hold of some gold, either by buyingscrap or using some pieces that family own that are broken or that they don't wear anymore. But, when my jeweller costed it up she said that the cost of processing the old gold and gettingthe carat right would actually cost more than making it from new gold! If the carat of your bracelet is the same as you want your ring to be then that might be different.

  • Natc I love the idea of using old jewellery to make your ring but like sapphire said just make sure you are happy to lose the old stuff. I don't know much about getting stuff made I guess just do some googling and contact a local jeweller to chat it over.

haha sapphire yes vino would defo give them a rustic look! Never posted piccies before but will give it a try here are our 2 drafts see if you can pick which one is our fave?

LOL Tracey! Happy Birthday, hope you're having a great time off!
Summary of Fiona's wedding plans as requested:
    - Deposits paid on both venues - thanks Mum & Dad!! xxx :D
    - further work done on my dress - all photos here Password is Sep2012. Just need to do final tweaks to the bodice, which I'll do when I have my underwear, then once I have my fabric we can start the real thing *gulp*
    - my wedding ring ordered and deposit paid :j
    - two necklaces bought, one pearl and one opal and diamante on a gold chain - piccies on previous page. Don't know which one I'll wear or whether I'll find another that I like even more, but given that they cost a grand total of £13 that doesn't matter!
    - three Humanist celebrants contacted to confirm availability, one has already got back to me so will call her tonight.
    Next on list:
    - find photographer
    - find DJ/band

Of course you can jump into the thread and talk about yourself - that's what it's here for! Even if you haven't been on for ages don't feel that you have to catch up with absolutely everything else that everyone is doing before you can post your own updates.

So - how's planning going with you?
