yeah ive enquired about that too, and to take them to the wedding, then take them home when its finished its £500....i dont think i could make the guests pay for it though as we asking them to come and join us on our day. other people have told me to split it between the guests, or at least make them pay a small contribution...but i think its abit cheeky?!

    Hey,

We were offered the Safari and drink option because we decided we couldn't afford the BBQ (as having 100 guests in the evening and 60 during the day). I think Jane only gives the details of the things you've mentioned you are interested in. Maybe you could ask about it, there might be a way that you can afford to have more people and the Safari?

We aren't too concerned about travel arrangements... all of our guests will be from all over the place so we are trying to sort out some deals with the local hotels (all the ones within 2-3 miles to keep taxi costs low). Jane also mentioned people could leave their cars at the zoo overnight and collect them next morning, so reducing taxi costs?

I don't think it's cheeky to ask guests to contribute to their own transport... No wedding I've been to has offered us transport or accommodation, we've been happy to pay for it ourselves so we could join them, especially as we know they are already spending a fortune on feeding and entertaining us for the day! Best way to do it is to ask yourself if you'd be offended if someone asked you to do the same for their wedding... would you be offended if you had to pay for your own transport?

    Amy

im going to include the room rates at the hotel were getting married in, the nearest travelodge room rate and another b&b's rates so it should cover a few budgets!
its easy to search with google maps too if you 'search for things nearby'

oh thats good about our month, h2b was born in this month too so i suppose were off to a good start with that, as long as hes not annoying me at the mo...which he is....but thats another story ;)

In terms of accommodation for guests, we will include details of a couple of different hotels with different star ratings, maybe a couple of B&Bs and the local YMCA, to make sure we cover all budgets!

We'll also include a couple of taxi firms' details and the local bus routes.

We are very lucky that our day and evening venues are five minutes' walk from each other, and that we're in a city so transport and accommodation shouldn't be too much of a problem. We were looking at a different evening venue which was further away and with very little parking nearby, and the logistics around hiring coaches, where people could leave their cars, where coaches would pick people up from, what times etc etc was a headache!! On a side note, there is nothing wrong with asking people to contribute towards transport if you are laying on coaches IMHO - after all, if you didn't provide transport they would have to drive/take a taxi which they'd hardly expect you to pay for!

We just booked these guys! http://www.imaginethat.uk.net/

They're way out of our budget (the cheapest package is £1500!) BUT, we managed to get a deal with them that they'd do it for £995, without the album, on the proviso that we buy the album within the first two years.

I'm planning on getting it as a first-anniversary present, but wanted that extra year's wiggle-room just in case of unforeseen circumstances!

We'll be asking guests to donate toward the album instead of giving gifts so hopefully by the time we've saved up and put all the donations together, we'll be able to get a really nice one with loads of images!

Hmmn... that wasn't very MSE, was it? I'm sorry, MSE, I have sinned!

just having a read through the last few posts, seems like everyones planning is coming along nicely!

we have finally paid our deposit for the venue and have decided 100%, no sit down meal, buffet in the afternoon and bacon rolls in the evening

Have to wait for the rugby fixtures to be announced in December before we can send out the save the date cards in case we need to move it. i was also told that sky tv can change the fixtures at the last minute, i had a nightmare last night that sky tv changed a home game to the saturday afternoon 3 weeks before the date (which has happened before), we have been told that the matches take priority so will be on pins till fixture time!!

They look fab!! Yes, it is MSE, because you have worked out a way to pay for it so you won't get into debt. Martin would be proud!
