Hello,
I've now joined the club, have picked (and currently have on hold) the 8th Sept 2012 at Halswell House, Somerset. The deposit should go down next week. I'm very excited but can't believe how much prep others have done! I've done nothing!!0 -
Ooooh please do, I've sneaked on here purely for dress updates
Are you enjoying it? Must be so exciting working on your own dress, getting it exactly how you wishWhite_Sapphire wrote: »

Welcome to the thread fubar and katy! :hello: Fubar, you have chosen the most popular date on the thread - seven of you! You're date septuplets!!! (yes, I had to look that word up to make sure I got it right). Don't worry about the planning - you've got over a year, and you can't do much before booking the venue anyway. We're all here to help each other so let us know if you need anything.
Pictures coming soon Fawny, promise...! I haven't done any more on it, as I have to go to my parents' house, but I have really enjoyed it. Hoping to do more in the next couple of weeks. I'm also going to a vintage market next Sunday with my mum, and am really hoping that there'll be some gorgeous fabrics and other pretty things to inspire me!!

It's so annoying, I really want to see your pictures but the internet at work blocks photobucket so it will have to wait until I get home! I am sure it looks fabulous - can't wait to have a look.
We have started up again after a quiet spell!
We have an appointment on Wednesday evening to talk to a photographer and get him to agree to something that is within our budget (crossed fingers), and Catherine has identified a new celebrant to replace the one who can't do it now.
We are arranging to meet with a friend of ours who has agreed to do the cake and will also do the main reception catering with my help up to but definitely not including the actual day!
We have also bought the social stirrers (can't wait for them to arrive) and I picked up the wedding wish tree mentioned in another thread yesterday and we were playing with it last night - I think we will tie ribbons and bows on it in the wedding colours, add some pretty white fairly lights (will buy this Christmas when they're in the shops) and stand it on a plinth with a sign explaining what it's for and what to do. We thought we would put bowls of luggage labels with pens around the venue with a card on each telling people to go to the tree and tie on their note.
We do have a slight dilemma regarding bridesmaids. Catherine wanted 2 with a flower girl, and she has somehow got herself into the position of having 4! She only really wants 2, and we only really have the budget for 2, so she now has to work out what to do. Her best friend from schooldays is obviously one, with the said BF's daughter as the flower girl, and David's sister is the other one she wants, but she has another old schoolfriend plus her best friend from university who both have sort of assumed they will be bridesmaids. Does anyone have any ideas about how to solve this? The old schoolfriend might not be too much of a problem, but the other one can be a bit touchy at times and Catherine does want to involve her, but not as a bridesmaid - we thought perhaps she could do a reading at the service or something.
Tricky situation and I am sure there are going to be many more!

Hi,
WhiteSapphire will have a look at your pics at home as can't view them at work:(
Sounds a tricky situation Debbie, I would have been struggling if we were marrying in the UK as there would have been 4 people who would have expected to be BM's, but since were not only 2 of the 4 can come which I knew as the other 2 are teachers. I've done readings at several weddings for close friends who's not been able to have me as a bridesmaid due to much the reasons you say & i've been more than happy to do this. I personally think it's a great honor to be asked to read at someone's wedding & in a way it's a great responsibility so I think it's a good way forward.
I've just ordered my wedding shoes(hopefully) I really wanted a pair of gold wedges as the path to the church is steep downhil slope & normal high heels would be a problem, but I don't want flats so i'm hoping wedges will be ok! I was struggling to find a pair as I wanted the wedge bit to be gold as well & could only find cork but just by chance I spotted a pair in house of frasers this lunch time. They are Nine West Naciab & were in the sale at £35 instead of £90:j Just got to wait to see if they fit & hopefully they won't be too high.

Fab shoes Fawny!
Debbie, it sounds like a good idea to ask those who can't be bridesmaids to be involved in another way - witnesses, readings, ushers, etc. Or if they have a specific talent you could use that. It's a privilege to be a bridesmaid not a right, so if they are true friends they will understand. I'm not saying they won't be a little hurt as that's just human nature, but they should feel honoured to be involved in their friend's wedding in whatever way she chooses.
