I wish we were having a mini honeymoon too but sadly due to budget we just can't afford it.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

well some news on the job front, he has a job interview on monday and 1 on wednesday so fingers crossed. IF he gets one of these jobs (he is a bus driver) , he will work in his current company till 23rd July and he will get £1200 redundancy package so it can go towards the wedding, so fingers crossed he gets one as thats a massive amount that will buy so much for the day.
the venue for the reception isnt built yet and the events organiser is reluctant to book anything in due to sky tv fixtures next season. Should i just go ahead and pay the deposit for the church or hold out till the fixtures are published in February.
ooh a mini honeymoon sounds lovely! we were looking at australia for our honeymoon, staying with family so only the flights to pay but even thats too expensive for our budget so we were thinking greece for a few days!Married my amazing hubby on 8th September 2012 :j:j0 -
Hi all, been away for a much-needed break for the last week in the Lakes, which is BEAUTIFUL. Never been before, and now I just want to live there!! While we were there we got a phone call and email from our provisional evening venue saying that another couple were very interested in our date so could we confirm whether we still wanted it?! We didn't get the message for a few days as there is zero mobile reception and little wifi coverage where we were, but we managed to get a message to them in time, phew!! Just need to pay the deposit now... :eek:Hi girls (and boys
)
OMG! I havent been on here in ages! Tut tut! I have loads to catch up on, will have to trawl through to when I was last here.
Been so busy with other things that the wedding plans have taken a back step. Went to a christening on Saturday and our friend was there who is getting married just a month before us and she had brought all her save the date cards for everyone...Aaarrrgh! Not even though about it! She knows what colour scheme she is going for, she has ordered her cake, booked the church and her venue, had qoutes from photographers... Im so behind! Anyone else feeling like this?!!!
As i've said before, we have booked the church, we have provisionally booked a venue in case we dont see/like anywhere else, so thats OK for now! There just seems to be a lot do, and people are telling me I should be looking for dresses and booking the venue for definate. There are still a couple of places we want to look at first, so best get on with that. I think that ive been so relaxed about it all, that I just havent bothered to do anything!!! :rotfl:Im just thinking that now, if I thought about it too much, i could get quite overwhelmed with all the things to do. Im going to have to get my spreadsheets out and work through everything a step at a time, or a nervous breakdown will come along i reckon!
Welcome back Natalie, you have been missed! Don't stress, you're obviously very organised with all your spreadsheets and still have lots of time - yes, I've been told by a lot of people that the 12 months before the wedding speeds by, but that's because you'll be busy sorting everything out! Just learn the art of delegation and you'll be fine
On my imminent-must-be-done-now-or-else To Do list is:
1. Pay the remainder of the hire fee for our day venue (they ask for the basic hire fee as a deposit, and the drinks and extras are paid for later)
2. Pay the deposit for the evening venue
3. Find a Humanist Celebrant
4. Find a Photographer
5. Find band/DJ/both for evening do, and any other entertainment we want (and can afford!)
6. Finish dress mock-up
All of which is a tiny proportion of the whole To Do list! It will all get done in the end, and if a few details don't get done no-one will know and I will be too busy on the day enjoying myself that I probably won't notice either!!hiya everyone, me and OH have finally booked our wedding after 2 years of engagement, Saturday 8th Sept 2.pm
We have booked the church i was baptised in and we are having our reception in the brand new rugnby stadium that hasnt even been built yet, it should be finished in Oct this year so plenty of time.
cant wait to share in everyones excitement in planning our big days. im gonna need major help as i dont even know where to begin!!! xx
Venue: Prescot Parish Church
Evening venue St Helens rugby league club
Colour scheme: Ivory and gold
Theme: erm..........
Bridesmaids: 1 MoH, 2 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls
Favours: not even thought of stuff yet
Cake: choccywoccydoofdah dream cake!!
Table decs: again no idea, all ideas welcome
Food: no sit down meal, b uffet in the afternoon, we are thinking bacn and sausage barms for the evening with fries
Budget: £6000, before Honeymoon.id already plamnned to have my cake from choccywoccy before the series, was a little disappointed with the series for the same reasons you said. i have said to them im happy with whatever cake they want to get me, id be happy with a 99p fairy cake, they do know how expensive it is and i just dont like the thought they will go without to buy me that cake. had a chat to them about it last night and again told them its not what i want, we'll see!!
on another note - my OH came home from work last night and told me he is being made redundant on 23rd July. We had only booked the wedding 3 days before, no inclination that anyone was going to be let go from the company. He has been phoning companies none stop this morning about jobs, budget is going to need a massive reduction. My mind is not on the wedding at the moment, its to make sure my OH is happy and he gets back in work quickly!!
Welcome saintly! Really sorry to hear about your H2B's redundancy, I really hope he finds something else soon. You have enough to think about without trying to plan a wedding as well, I would just concentrate on him and making sure day to day finances are OK. You can make a decision on budget etc for the wedding later.

Hi Fiona,
Thanks for the welcome back! And nice to know you missed me!!! :T
Awww the Lakes is a wonderful place isnt it? We went for the first time last year too, and stayed in our trailer tent on a lovley campsite, it was just gorgeous. Definately want to go back thereSo glad that you got your venue sorted out before the others got to it!!! ha.
The "to do" lists seem endless dont they?! Good job there is over a year yet!
Ive spoken with the reception/evening venue we like today, (we are having the reception and evening do in one place, we have decided!) they are lovely. I cant remember if Ive mentioned it before, but its at Dewsbury Golf Club. My OH loves it, as there are lovely views, feels like you are right in the country, and the staff there seem lovely. We went there on Sunday for a carvery, it was yummy! So pleased about their standard of food
My only concern is that my dad has a 25 year old step son who is in a wheel chair and they dont have a lift, the room is upstairs.....there is a chair lift but we dont think it would be any good for him, he cant hold himself up etc. I spoke with my dad and his OH about this venue a couple of months ago, and explained about the access problems and they said there would be a way we could get him up there. I told them i would look elsewhere for a venue anyway to see if we could find something with better access, but we havent found anywhere else we like, so want to get the venue properly booked now. Just a little apprehensive about talking to dad and oh about it now, incase we cant get him up there, dont want him to feel left out....0 -

everyone sounds so organised so far I've booked the venue and sent out save the date cards the registrar gets booked through the venue but that can't be done until september at the earliest. I have made sure with both the registry office and the venue though that if the registrar gets booked in september we are granteed the date. Roll on september so I can start properly organising things!:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

Hi Amy
I'm one of your date sharers! I'm getting married on board the ss Great Britain in Bristol.
I have half done my save the dates. I'm having to pace myself because (having ME) if I over-do things today, then I'll be feeling it for weeks. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
