oh and as for church, they ask you to go to the vicars house, where they talk about you both and what you want, then he will say if he agrees that he thinks you both want to be married in a church, then you have to go chruch i think three times. xxxxAccept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Right now, mostly I'm having photographer woes! They're all soooooo expensive! Our budget is an utter max of £300. For that, all I want is them there from arrival at ceremony to cake cutting / possibly first dance; and a disc with all the high-resolution photos on. No leather bound album, no fancy photoshopping, no dawn til dusk. But even for that, most people seem to be asking about £500-600!
Am I being really stupid? Am I really asking for too much for too little money? Our wedding is in Monmouthshire, if anyone has any recommendations!
Also - I really agree with you guys about being sucked into the little details! I'm thinking about colouring books for the kids and borrowing an easel to put the seating plan on - but I still haven't thought about suits or flowers! eep!Life on a shoestring!0 -
I love photos, and i would love them to be there all day, but im trying to tell myself once they go, other people will take photos and i know they wont all be as good but atleast you will get more as other people will uploded them to fb etc.

i photographed my first wedding the other week and OMG i didnt realise just how much work is involved!! the stress you go through making sure you have the important shots, flitting between hundreds of setting to suit the conditions, being there the entire day on your feet running around getting the right shots....and not to mention the hours and hours of work afterwards going through thousands of images (we took 3000!!) to find the best ones and process them all....making sure the skintone is right, photoshopping things out in the background etc..............now i know why they charge so much! LOL
my photographer is £2000....eeeekk!! dearest part of my budget.....but to me the photos are the most important part.....they are all we are going to have left of the amazing day (aswell as each other and the rings lol)MandyMoo22 wrote: »I love photos,

oh yes - I completely understand that it's a huge job for the photographer - but I just don't get why it's SO incredibly expensive! Even including a very generous 30 hours for sorting and image adjustment, that's more than £50 an hour! and most want expenses on top of the fee! ouch.
I'd love the full works, the £2,000 package, but we just don't have the money for that. So I'm desperately trying to find someone decent within our budget. Am beginning to seriously consider Plan B: appeal to the local arts college for a photography student and cross my fingers that if they snap enough, the law of averages will mean there'll be at least a handful of good pics!Life on a shoestring!0 -
i suppose your paying for the time they spend away from their family (its mostly weekend work) and id say it was more than 30 hours to process....it took me 10 hours just to LOOK through 3000 pictures and decide which ones i was going to use....that was before i even started processing them LOL and maybe extra money for cleaning the sensors on the camera, and of course the copyright on the images....if your asking for a disc of images, the photographer is losing out on alot pf profit he would otherwise gain on prints, so would have to charge for the copyright too. Im getting mine of a disk too
try photography forums......theres tons of people who want to venture into a wedding but either havent had the chance or are too shy to charge....and see if theres any takers. or ask for TWO photographers....they will feel better that there is another person there....and you get different angles, and twice the amount of pictures:dance:

just to warn you you do get a few annoying pop ups when you click but theyr very cheap so its worth a shot, i have looked at quite a few for you but they dont seem to cover your area and if they do they would charge extra bringing it over £300I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
I too was amazed at the prices photographers charge yes I know it does take time going through the photos and photoshopping the images not to mention the number of hours they are there during the day BUT I think some photographers charging over a £100 for a photoalbum which in a lot of cases I could do a better job a oranging the photos in a nicer book is a bit much! Also with the copyright issues which I personally think is a bit just who exactly would be interested in buying photos of someone elses wedding it not like they know the person:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

scotsbride....its buying the copyright off the photographer....so you can then do with them as you please (put them on facebook etc)...if you dont have the copyright they are still the photographers and you can get done for using them etc.
also....the albums, i went to a photography fare....and MY GOD those albums are expensive!! some are £600 before youve even put any pics in LOL
I was like you.....and with my cakes too....i used to think how on earth can they possibly charge that much when i can make it for X amount.....but until you try you dont know. Im working my !!! off, spending more time away from my kids than with them (and i work at home!) totally drained and stressed upto the eyeballs and im not even earning minimum wage! i have to start putting my prices up just to get by without working every hour god sends....most photographers are £600-£800 and that seems to be the average. think yourself they arent £2000 like mine are!!! eeeeek! LOL it all depends on what you want....i suppose you pay for what you get in alot of places....but when it comes to cakes....ive seen people charge sky high prices, and i could have iced it better with my eyes closed! LOL:dance:
