Congratulations and welcome Starrystarrynight! :T Let us know if you need any help with anything.
Just realised I was out by one day on my countdown; it's 489 days as of today, which gives me one more day than I thought. So that's alright then

Hi Starrystarrynight welcome to the group.
Don't worry Whitesapphire I will definately query the £80+VAT for photos! Also querying what the rest of the price includes so I can compare it against other quotes,( Is anyone else doing this?),
Luckily might have a bit more money in the pot than I first thought as my brother and his girlfriend have set up a cup cake business in Mexico and said they would do the wedding cake instead of a wedding present and a neighbour said he'd be perpared to drive us in his car which he'd decorate. What do people think generally of asking friends and family to help out in lue of wedding presents? Does anyone think that it's a bit cheeky?:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -

Definitely get a thorough breakdown of what each venue includes in their price - after all, you might find one venue with a more expensive hire fee but that includes stuff you would otherwise have to pay for separately which isn't included in a cheaper venue's hire fee.
Great news about your brother and neighbour offering to help. I personally think it's the best way to get an MSE wedding, and a much more personal one than if you got professionals in for everything. People are generally delighted to be asked - I would be! In terms of it being in lieu of a wedding present, the only way I can think that it would be seen as cheeky is if you make it sound like 'if you don't do something towards the wedding you have to buy us a present'! Just do it by thinking of family and friends with specific skills that you need and asking them, before any conversations about wedding lists have started. Then just say that, as they are contributing so much to your day already, that that is enough of a gift.Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

My bro and neighbour actually offered so it's ok. And I wouldn't put it like that anyway.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

I can't imagine anyone being quite that tactless! Just an illustration of how asking for help is not being cheeky

I have heard of cases. Not for weddings but birthday parties which is just as bad in my opinion.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

weve decided on a sept wedding abroad, i really want to go to Hawaii to do it and the other half likes the idea too, because it will be expensive probably none of our families will come which means i dont know how i'll feel without any of them there. I keep telling myself it would be lovely and romantic with just the 2 of us and we can throw a party when we come home or do i compromise and have it somewhere more mainstream so the family will come ?
Answrs on a postcard please !!!!!!!!0 -
at the end of the day it's your wedding do what both of you really want. If you do get married aboard check out all the legal stuff and make sure you have 2 witnesses. You could also if you get married abroad have a blessing when you come home. If you get married here you'll have your family you could always have a Hawaii themed wedding and maybe you could save up and go to Hawaii on your honeymoon.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120
