at the end of the day it's your wedding do what both of you really want. If you do get married aboard check out all the legal stuff and make sure you have 2 witnesses. You could also if you get married abroad have a blessing when you come home. If you get married here you'll have your family you could always have a Hawaii themed wedding and maybe you could save up and go to Hawaii on your honeymoon.

lol i definately dont want to do it here in scotland , i started planning it and the stress was too much it scared me. i want to have a scottish theme and wear a tartan dress

Welcome Lorna! Don't really have anything further to add to Scotsbride's advice, we can't really tell you what to do as only you and your H2B will know what kind of wedding you want and what your families' reactions will be.
A wedding in the UK doesn't have to be mainstream and unbearably stressful - ignore the bridal magazines, decide between you what you want your wedding to look like, and go from there. I look at offbeatbride.com a lot - some great inspiration (and a lot of odd stuff, but it's all about each to their own there) and stops me from being sucked into all the 'Princess' special daaaaay' stuff that I'm trying to avoid!!

Looking forward to hearing about your plans! Let us know when you set the date, and I'll add you to our elite list :D

    Hi Lorna,

Congratulations & welcome:j. As you will see we are getting married abroad, we did consider the Caribean but decided as we had never been before it was a too big a risk in case we did not like it. Also the cost for guests to come would have been too much & to be honest I really want my mum & dad there. So we decided on Lindos as it means something to us & we go there every year so know the area well:D

My parents were over the moon when we said we were getting married in Lindos & are really excited about it, they are even coming this year for a week to check the place out! H2B parents on the other hand were not so pleased as they are a lot older & won't be able to come(which we knew before we decided on greece but H2B really wanted greece, so he has to live with that & it's what we want)

I guess you have to decide if you feel happy with just the two of you, i'm happy with a small wedding although there are a lot more people showing interest in coming than we though so may not be as small as we though:eek::D

Ok so now i'm been silly as i've just got excited over the fact that i've made my first wedding purchase, I was in Poundland & spotted that they had large packets of table confetti so I got loads of packs to sprinkle on out tables :rotfl:. We decide the other day that we just want candles & foil confetti as our table decorations so thats the confetti done:D
