Thanks for the advice ladies, think I'm going to skip the save the date cards and just send out the invites a little earlier than normal. Doesn't seem very MSE to make two sets with pretty much the same details on!! Just have to be patient, think 18 months in advance is a bit keen.
White_Sapphire, I love the ring, I think we're going to go for something like this: http://weddingring-s.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/mens-wedding-rings.jpg for me (evenn though it says it's for men!!) because I don't have an engagement ring and I want a little bit of sparkle, and the same design without the diamonds for Mr.Getting married 02.08.14

That ring is gorgeous! I reckon it only says it's a men's ring because the jeweller only makes that one in men's sizes, and it's slightly chunkier. I've seen a few very similar to that for women during my searches when I was deciding on mine.
I agree with you about the Save The Dates (for some reason I can't bring myself to abbreviate that term, as the acronym means something else too!!). I was initially going to send them, perhaps with Christmas cards to save on postage :money: and for some people they are useful, especially if you're marrying abroad. But tbh I don't think I can be bothered, as it's something else to plan, design, buy materials for, etc. So we'll just send messages round facebook, mention it to people when we speak to them, and get parents to inform aunts and uncles etc. We're quite lucky as ours is an easy date to remember, being the 1st of the month!

Thanks, I really like it. And it will be extra special because I'm going to have the sapphire from my great-grandmother's engagement ring set into it, as well as some diamonds from a brooch she left to all the ladies in the family to split between us. They are beautiful stones and it's such a shame for them to be hidden away so I thought where better to have them out and loved than on my finger every day!!Getting married 02.08.14

Oh, that's lovely - you'll have something that's so personal to you. I'm thinking of getting my ring made from scrap gold as it should work out slightly cheaper - it would be great if it was made from jewellery owned by a member of my family. Might ask my mum about it...

You never know. In my experience rings and brooches get passed on down the generations and because they're often not very fashionable by today's terms they get put in a drawer or something and never thought of again. I just think it's nice to re-use old stones rather than shelling out for new diamonds that cost the earth!Getting married 02.08.14

I've just spent a rather lovely couple of hours at a vintage-themed wedding fayre today! Ohhh, the lace! Ohhh the dresses!!!
I think I want lace bunting!! Should be dead cheap too - just get a few old net curtains and loads of ribbon. I won't even need to hem them! :T
Oh, and I spoke to a lovely lady who advised me where to get some vintage fabric for my dress
Now, if I can just get my college tutors to STOP GIVING ME SO MUCH WORK I can get started.... :rotfl:

Hello Ladies,
Hope we are all well?
I'm at my parents this weekend in West Yorkshire & have been to see a dress maker about her doing me a dress:D She got married abroad a few years ago so knows exactly what's needed. I showed her a few pics of the things I like & then she got her sketch book out & did me a few designs & she was great. So i'm now in her book for her to do my dress, she is not going to take any measurements or start making it until next year, but she has my designs:j Not sure if to go for Ivory or white yet? She is going to get me a couple of samples of both in a few different chiffons so I can think about it, but she said i'm her most organised bride. So i'm going to stop looking at dresses now as i'm happy with what she has come up with & just think about the colour now:j

That's brilliant Fawny! :T As for white or ivory, most people suit ivory better as it's less harsh than white. Having said that, white does look great on some people. Maybe get hold of a piece of fabric or a garment in each colour and hold each near your face in turn in front of a mirror, in natural light. The one that suits you better will make your eyes stand out more, your complexion look better and any eye bags less noticeable. If in doubt wait till your first appointment with your dressmaker, she should be able to guide you. Or just go with whichever you personally prefer!
