Aww my Dad is like my wedding planner! He rang me at the weekend to say hes been to a wedding fayre at the shopping centre and got me some info, leaflets etc. And hes text me today about a photographer he knows, hes been talking to him today and given me his website address. I think its lovely when ppl are interested in your day. I went to a friends at the weekend and she has found a band she thinks OH and I will like and a vintage tea company! Awww bless them all!
Well, I think I mentioned earlier in the thread somewhere about BM's, not sure now, spoke about all sorts! I was considering just having my Sister and her daughter, my niece and Daniels Niece. So just one adult BM and 2 girls. But I spoke to my mum about it at the weekend as when i took my mum and my sis to look at dresses last year, my sister was like "im not gona wear this and im not wearing that" etc etc. I just asked her why she was like that, and being difficult before Id even set a date etc. My mum said that she doesnt think she wants to be a BM, i think shes told my mum that, she said she doesnt like getting frilly things to wear or being centre of attention. She wouldnt have to wear anything frilly!!! hahaha. But decided id rather not ask her officially to be a BM now, Im not upset about it, it would have been nice for my sis to have been there for me though. But decided I dont want any adult BMs at all!!!! Hopefully will save hastle and arguments etc. is anyone else just having the young ones to be BMs? Would it look daft?0 -
i wish i was just having my MOH but ive got 5 bridesmaids altogetherI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0
-
lol yeah i saw those nat!! they started doing it a few years back and i showed OH who wanted to do it......but the more and more i saw the more i thought it had been overdone...and i dont think i have the balls to do it LOL...
i do like Destiny though...would just be hard to dance to as a first dance!
awww that is lovely about ur dad!! did he go to the trafford centre? I was supposed to go on Sunday but the kids were ill....supposedly a big wedding fair on!
its so lovely they are all helping you!! My mum is the same....shes finding dress shops etc, but kind of pushing them on me abit! LOL
Firstly its good that your not to upset about not having your sister as a BM, and i dont think its silly to have just the little ones either...it will be really cute! Id much rather have people be comfortable on the day rather than !!!!!ing about what they had to wear etc.....they would just wear you down eventually with all the whining they did so if its not what you want then dont ask her. Either that or explain to her you thought it would be nice to have her as a bridesmaid and that it was for only one day....and you would choose something for her to wear together so you were both happy with it.
I have to say i was exactly the same when my SIL asked me to be BM....i HATE being centre of attention too and dreaded the whole thing...even the dress!! but I did it just because they had asked me to. i didnt complain though which is probably the only difference between these two stories! I even got up and did a reading for them because they asked me too....i hate anything like that but again...i did it because it was their day and its what they wanted, maybe try talk to your sister and tell her its what you wanted for your big day and you want her to be apart of it?
sorry waffled on there!! just typed as it came out my mouth as usual! LOL hope it makes sense!

Hello All,
Sounds like everyone is getting stuff done & making decisions. As were getting married in Rhodes we are working with a wedding planner who we will meet in the winter so we can't really organise much until then:( I'm making a list of ideas ofthings i'd like so we can get costs when we meet her, but other than look for a dress I feel stuck(not moaning really)Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
:rotfl:definately not the dance id do either, no chance! Looks good when other ppl do it! hahaha.
You could have a feel good, upbeat dance with Destiny with your H2B. Although, I think I will rather just hold onto Daniel and slow dance with him so that we dont really have to look at anyone and writh about like werein pain or something!
Thank you for the advice there. Thats what I thought about my sister, that you would think she would just not whinge and spoil it, and just think, oh thats nice, my sister thinks of me enough for her to ask me to be a BM and ill just get on with it. Its not like Id be asking her to buy any of her outfit, Id have chosen something nice for her to wear and made sure she had her input into it, but i really cant be bothered to even ask her to do it now and explain it to her, coz I would expect that she should know this already, and if she doesnt, then thats just selfish of her, and she is selfish sometimes. So id rather just have the kiddies and not worry about adults acting like children! hahaha. :rotfl:Im not going to fall out with her about it though. She can just sit at the front of the church and watch her daughter come down the aisle in a pretty lil dress. ( I can just imagine her being funny about what dress my neice will be in aswell, shes particular about what shell dress her in!)
No, it wasnt Trafford Cetnre, it was White Rose Centre. I didnt even know there was one on there, but dad sure did! Bless him, I though that was lovley. I dont know what planet my sister is from, coz my dad isnt like that, he went out of his way to go there and pick some information up. My mum was a little disinterested though when we went looking for dresses last year. She must take after my mum! Although recently, my mum been interested in it all, which im so pleased about. Think it must be coz we have the date set now. Shes been asking about the food, the venue the church, everything.
I think its right though what people say, its your most important day, but nobody else thinks like that! Im just glad we can all share on here about our special day!0 -

fawny, must be awful not to get hands-on n sort things!! xx
Nat, you described us exactly there...id much rather just cling on to him and move slowly than have to dance properly!! LOL
o god she sounds abit like a nightmare being so fussy!!!....i thought i was fussy! LOL
yeah i know what you mean about it being our special day...though lots of people have took an interest in mine really which is good. One of my bridesmaids is super excited and cant wait! LOL she helps look for things on the internet for me too sometimes. I havent even asked my other bridesmaid yet...i need to pull my finger out! LOL
yeah I deffo wouldnt fall out with your sister over it, if she ever turns round nearer the day and asks why u didnt ask her to be a bridesmaid i would just tell her the truth n say that you felt she was being a little selfish with the choosing dresses etc as it your day and not hers. Maybe she will then realize how shes been.

I know how frustrating it is to not be able to get started on anything when you're having loads of ideas, fawny! We've still got to finalise the budget (we're still not sure what parental contributions will be - my parents have offered far too much and we're trying to work out how much to actually accept, and H2B's parents are offering a contribution but we don't know how much) and until that's done I can't really look at decorations, flowers, accessories etc. I'm just worried that I'll find loads of bargains, only to discover that I've not only overspent on, say, the decorations budget, but that we haven't got enough decorations!! Plus, my job is looking slightly dicey and I am jobhunting at the mo so am not sure what I will be able to put away each month.
Still, H2B and I agreed last night to just go for the day venue we like, and have given ourselves until the end of the week to decide whether to go for the proposed evening venue, bearing in mind a few logistical and possibly budget-threatening issues. Also, we have been invited to H2B's parents' on Sunday to discuss their gift to us, so that might settle a couple of things.
Feels like we have a few hurdles to overcome before we can get down to really planning the wedding!
At least you can get on with looking for a dress and gathering lots of ideas for things like readings and music, fawny. Plus ideas for invites, colours, etc maybe?Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Thanks Tracey. Yes, she is a bit selfish sometimes. I just cant be bothered with worrying about other people, its my wedding day, and there are too many other things to be thinking about than adults acting like spoilt brats! Hahaha. Definately decided on 2 flower girls and thats it! Sooo excited, going to try and get our date booked in today with the Church! Ive been thinking about the date not being available at the church so feel i need to book it right this minute!!! Fingers Crossed!
Fiona - you must a bit in limbo at the min then with not knowing your budget etc, hope you can get this sorted out this weekend so you know where you are.0 -
did you not manage to discuss figures with them then at the meal?
Yeah id just go with whatever you want....if your like me and only planning on doing it once...then you have to do it how you want it or forever regret it n wish you could do it again! LOL
