£40 for all that! LOL thats insane.
    well done

So what is everyone having for their candy buffets?
Im trying to mix it up and have more of a 'dessert' buffet thats available all day.

Trying to keep with the theme (animals/films) and colour scheme (purple, orange and green)

    Animal bars (primarily green packet)
    Haribo turtles (green)
    Animal biscuits (purple packet)
    The wedding cake
Popcorn to fit the 'movie theme'
Zebra print bags to put them in
    Cupcakes
Jelly animals (orange, purple, green and pinky red)
    Freddos (purple and green packet)
    Purple Millions
Then the 'desserts' we are getting last minute from Tesco on the way down! lol
mini donuts, mini choc muffins etc

I got all the glass jars from ikea at £1 each, and made tags to hang from each one with purple ribbon.
Also got a huge slab of tree trunk from a friend to put the wedding cake on lol

What about buying some disposable shot glasses and doing mini jelly pots with coloured layers? Purple could be black current, then orange and then like? I'm doing skittle vodka jellies for the adults and sugar free jelly for the kids x

With regards to other sweets I'm just getting anything and everything. Found a great piccy on how to make a sweet scoop from a milk carton if you want to be a real mse'r x
My big fat eBay wedding £1200 budget! 1st September 2012!!

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I can't believe how quickly time is going - it doesn't seem 5 minutes since we were all "One year today..."

I've paid out a lot this weekend - photographer balance, wedding breakfast balance & a big chunk of the evening reception (final balance will be paid 2 weeks before when final numbers are confirmed)

And tonight we're viewing our pre-wedding shoot pictures, so excited! I hope she's made me look very thin & pretty :rotfl::rotfl:
  • Hi everyone

Haven't posted for a long while but I read the updates every week to see how everyone is getting on... can't believe how quickly time is going. So excited about the wedding!!!

Our plans are going well, I have my hen do on Sat which I am really excited about but now I am not sure I will be able to enjoy it guilt free.... yesterday my H2B came across a huge problem with the stag which is supposed to be week after mine (28th July) and I wondered if anyone may have any suggestions or if not it may help me to just vent.

He had managed to secure a nice venue in Kidderminster through a friend of the Best Man's, it is basically a lot of land where they can camp... they were going to have 'night of a 1000 beers' and kick back and enjoy some outdoor games and music and they have also hired a massive inflatable assault course for the day. For those that didn't want to camp there is a travelodge nearby... all good so far.

Unfortunately as of yesterday he now has no venue for it... he got a phone call yesterday by the guy who owns the land and because of the bad weather he had to postpone a wedding last week and has decided to let them rearrange to the 28th leaving the boys with no where to go. (unfortunatley he was giving them the land for free and there was no contract... i guess the wedding party were paying guests) The problem is that there are about 30 odd people going, the travelodge was booked for about 5/10 guests with non refundable rooms, leaving 25 people with no where to sleep and being tied to kiddermister due to the travelodge... not only that the inflatable assault course was £500 and non refundable and also ties them to kidderminster so all the money has been spent with nothing to show.... DILEMMA.

I just feel awful as he is so down in the dumps about it, he has 25 people who have paid money and now haven't anywhere to stay and their plans for the weekedn are ruined. To top it off sounds like the 28th is going to be a lovely day so would have been perfect.

I feel so out of control - I tried googling fields to hire in Kidderminster but nothing came up. I know the best man will sort something out and its really not my problem to solev but I hate being so out of control and not being able to cheer him up. I would truly give up my hen do just for his to be ok...

I just wonderd if by chance anyone knew of any land to hire for the weekend in that area that they could put up tents, inflatables and gazebos but also without being a nuisance to other guests (so not a campsite) Or any ideas of how we can get round it?

Everything was going so smoothly. I just feel sick for him :o(

Sorry to take up the wedding forum with a problem with the stag party and also to put a dampner on peoples excitement. I just can't concentrate on anything. Its not even my problem but I just know how excited he was about the weekend.

    :T
    thats so fab!
I just made a diagram for the venue to aid them setting it up (they said as many instructions as i can possibly give them would be great) and theres no better way than explaining than with a picture lol

    scaled.php?server=28&filename=chesterzooinstructionsc.jpg&res=landing

The little rounded rectangles are sweet jars, everything else are platters/cake stands etc.
I think it makes me look abit like a control freak (well i am abit of a perfectionist! lol) but I just think this is the easiest possible way of letting them know how it should look without writing huge paragraphs ha ha

ooooo ENJOY!! When will you have them by? I cant wait! lol :rotfl:

awww thats so crap about the field! :( I would feel the same!
Not meaning to sterotype...but lots of farmers dont really have time to go on the computer to advertise etc. You may want to drive around near the location and actually go up to knock on peoples doors (farms with fields obviously! lol) and give them a proposition.
It doesnt hurt to ask and you will probably have more luck than surfing the internet.
Hope he manages to sort it!

Today i go for my first dress fitting in the new dress!
Im taking my newly bought jewellery to see how it looks. My necklace literally arrived this morning! (I wasnt expecting it to come so quick) but im not sure if its slightly 'too bulky'
Its a butler and wilson skull necklace :) They make SOOO many but i got the most subtle one of the bunch. (to match my skull earrings!)

    339551.001?$ukproddetailmain$
Its actually only small compared to the picture.
But I just tried it on and it still looks a little too bulky for a wedding dress.
I will try and get pictures anyway.

I managed to get 2 more jobs ticked off the list this week. But still LOADS more to do. Time is waiting for no-one...and its scary lol

Nutty, I think she'll put the online gallery live either tonight or tomorrow - I'll let you know the link once it's up :) LOVE the necklace - hope it looks good with the dress x

Nikki, I'd feel the same about the stag :( don't let it ruin your hen though, I'm sure that's the last thing your OH would want. Maybe speak to the best man and see if there's anything you can do to help? He may well have it all under control and you're panicking about nothing. Hugs anyhow, it will turn out OK xxx

Oh that dress is stunning! And absolutely love the necklace!

You don't seem made with your plan. I dragged my dad to the reception venue tape measure in hand and demanded a cm by cm floor plan. As we are limited for space need to know exactly were everything's going :)

Made a trial chocolate cake for my bottom tier at weekend omg it was gawjus. I only did a 2/3 size version. It weighed 4kg and contained 7 eggs, 700g sugar, 600g chocolate. Cannot weight till the day and the end of my diet lol x

    Evenin' ladies!!

Blimey, it's all getting a bit close now! Less than seven weeks for me

nikki, I'm sorry that your H2B is having a nightmare with his stag; I agree with nuttymummy that the best thing to do is drive around and see people directly, and just generally get the word out in the area that that's what he's looking for. Hopefully someone will be able to help. Enjoy your hen do regardless though; you won't help him by not enjoying your weekend!

Tracey, your dress and necklace look amazing!!

Roz, looking forward to seeing your pics!

I've uploaded a few more dress pics here: http://photobucket.com/whitesapphire81 password Sep2012. If you have a look on 'Miscellaneous wedding stuff' you'll find some progress pictures of my Mum's MoB jacket too!
Had a bit of a nightmare last week; having measured, checked, double checked, triple checked, pinned, tacked (roughly stitched to check seams are in right place), re-pinned, re-tacked, etc etc, I noticed last week that the chuffin' back chuffin' seam was chuffin' WONKY!!!!!:mad::mad: Thought at first that I was going to have to take most of the dress apart to fix it, but have managed to sort it out without having to unpick other seams, thankfully! It meant that I spent most of the day on that though, rather than on finishings, sorting out taking up the train, neatening the seam allowances, etc. I'll go round again this week and press on!

    Still so much to do!!
