we went to a neighbours wedding on sat, the groom took the brides name, i didnt know this until after id given the card addressed to mr and mrs 'grooms original name'! i felt bad but just assumed shed take his!
so at least you dont need to tell anyone that bit, but to any grooms taking the brides name can you forwarn guests please lolI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Thanks for all the hugs!
scotsbride its not wrong to ask for support but maybe ask him to help with the things that dont concern your family, i wouldnt feel comfortable asking my fil for this this and that on our honeymoon even though ive know him for 12 years
is he worried about the amount stuffs going to cost? x- I've asked him for the name of the lady he knows who makes cakes over three months ago, I've asked him about music both which I need to book I explained that I just need a descision now. either makes a joke changes the subject etc. When I try involve him he says it your day to which I reply it's our day. If I didn't ask him he'd only turn around and complain. I detailed costs explaining what for what he either doesn't listen or does the above I've tried not talking about the wedding but either someone else brings it! I suppose part of the problem where we live is everyone knows everyone elses business! This just causes him to rant further!White_Sapphire wrote: »Aw, Scotsbride, have a dodgy hug: :grouphug:
I agree with nuttymummy, I think he's feeing the pressure and not dealing with it well! I would take over dealing with your dad re honeymoon, as maybe he's not comfortable with doing that himself, and do a few non-wedding related things together and come back to the planning in a few days.- I left wedding related things alone that both of us need to be involved in for 7 weeks prior to this cause I know he's getting stressed. The honeymoon thing and other wedding related he's says need to be a joint thing which I agree only Whilst I know he doesn't like to be hurried (DIY things stilll ongoing after 3 years! I haven't pushed although both my family and his have!) hence why I brought these things up months in advance. Something I need a desion on. I can't talk to my family or his as the both start putting on the pressure on both of us. The honeymoon have explained if he feels uncomfortable then tell me and I'll talk to my dad. He said he'll do it but hasn't. if I talk to my dad now I know I'll get snapped at. I know that some holidays he's had with family have been a disater. but he really enjoy the night away we had 2 years ago which my dad organised as a surprise for my 30th hence why my dad suggested it. and cause of his holiday in the passed asked for his input so he would feel comfortable.
xScotsbride, nothing to add to what the others have said so have a dodgy hug from me to go with your one from Fiona :grouphug:
I seem to have cracked on with a lot in June (i.e. moved my To Do list around to accommodate what I fancied doing and pushing the rubbish jobs back another month :rotfl: )... I have a make up trial at Chanel in John Lewis this evening, enjoy had a free eyemakeup one at MAC been using youtube to experiment with new looks.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -

eeee! went for a dress-viewing today to see whether the veil/tiara and the bolero go with the dress (it's so hard to remember the colour accurately!)
what to you think? (the veil is wonky, but we'll fix that!)
here's the front
and here's the back
we think we're going to try to fix the bolero to the dress, possibly with the hook half of hooks and eyes, sewn into the dress (to hook right into the lace)? Any ideas?Life on a shoestring!0 -

eeekkk dress pictures!! It looks lovely and really suits you
I need more visuals in here. freakin love em
scotsbride...more hugsI dont know what else to suggest!
Update on the 'dress regret' I went in and tried my own dress on again. They understand what i mean and have confirmed that the style of the dress just doesnt match my day at all. The original dress shop had ordered the wrong size (which is why it doesnt fit right) I tried on a dress they thought suited my day (still silver) but a tealength dress with a sweetheart neckline and some lovely bling on the waist. it was MUCH better than mine and I could walk in it! hurrah! Trouble is My other half isnt too keen on the shorter dresses (he says if they arent long they arent like wedding dresses) and I know where hes coming from. I also wanted my shoes to be abit of fun to flash throughout the day for people to get a glimpse of now and then, not to be on show constantly.
BUT they did this exact dress...in long too! Id go as far to say i LOVE the top part of the dress, perfect neckline, lovely beaded part, but the bottom doesnt really do anything for me. Very plain.
So with me leaving it very late they need a decision tomorrow, and I got myself into another tizz thinking...I have another huge decision to make in another short deadline.
SOOO as i was shopping today i called in another dress shop, and all their dresses can be bought off the peg. I think what im going to do is go into the local one again tomorrow, thank them for all their help (they have bent over backwards) but I made them a cake and left them a nice review on google, and hope thats enough! Then go on a furious dress shopping week trying ALLSORTS of dresses on to see if I come across one that I LOVE. (because I havent had chance to do that yet)
I think just because the other dress i tried on is BETTER than mine, it doesnt mean to say its 'the one' does that make sense?
My other half has said price is not an option he just wants me to be happy in my dress. So I have to buck up the courage and tell the dress shop tomorrow that I need ot look elsewhere before committing. If I dont try on the dresses I have my eye on, i will always be left wondering 'what if' x:dance:

T*ovi - I'm doing my own make up. I had a trial at Chanel last week and I loved it. Bought the primer, foundation, powder & eyeshadow which cost a fortune but I'll get lots of use from them, and then will buy cheaper versions of the lipgloss etc in the shades she used. I practiced the make up on my hen over the weekend and was really happy with how it looked
Nutty Mummy - I'm changing my name on my driving license, banks etc but not on my passportI still have 3 years left on it so will just wait until it's due for renewal and do it then. Good luck with the dress hunt this week
you sound much happier about the whole situation.
Catherine your dress, veil & bolero are stunning
Fawny - your list is lovely & manageable0 -
Just got back from my hen weekend and it was FANTASTIC!!!! You Bristol ladies are so lucky to live in such a lovely city! The weather was a bit temperamental but we managed to time it so that we only got soaked (to the bone & beyond!) on the way back from the nightclub on Saturday night.
There were 9 of us (inc the two mums & my pregnant sister) and we stayed at The Grand so were in the heart of everything, and it was lovely - especially the breakfast! On Friday night we had a cocktail making class at Vodka Revolution which was so much fun, and they threw in loads of freebies, then we walked down to Harbourside for a few drinks at Za Za Bar & The Living Room which I think was recommended by you lovely ladies so thankswe were home by midnight but were a bit more than tipsy (the cocktail class was at 6pm so it was a fairly respectable session
)
On Saturday we made use of the spa at the hotel and each had a treatment, then hit the shops for a few hours before heading out for an Italian meal & then back to Harbourside & eventually Oceana
Would definitely recommend the company (GoHen) to anyone organising a weekend in a strange city (not that Bristol is strange... You know what I meant) as its the second I've been on and they were both brilliantly organised and great fun.
On a real high from it all now (possibly still drunk :rotfl: ) and everyone is uploading their pics to Facebook which is funny/mortifying :rotfl:0 -
Hello Brides!
Been a long time - everyone getting excited?? Eeeee, it's so close now!
Hope everyone's doing well with their planning (am at work so can't read through everything)
Does anyone have any inspiration on wedding entertainment for the evening? We're thinking about hooking up the ipod, but I can't help feel it might be a bit lackluster....
How is everyone doing?
