    Hi Fawny,

Im going to give them a ring this week :D

We dont mind you talking about having your dress made, talk away!!! Its great :T

Im just worried about my dress looking homemade if you know what I mean??? The lady in York made her own wedding dress for her wedding last year and its really nice and on display in her shop, but thats the only one of hers ive seen properly, with boning in and structure etc. She showed me a couple she made for a wedding fayre, but they were only very slim line and floaty, and there were a couple of things that made me think that they looked "homemade" if you know what i mean?! Her website doesnt show much either. Yours seems to be coming on nicely and im def going to give them a call. Cant wait to see some pics of it! Looked at the Maggie Sottero ones you mentioned, theyre beautiful.

I know what you mean about the shops, a lot only seem interested in just selling you a dress qne dont seem to listen to what you actually want. Although I have come accross a couple of gems of wedding dress shops and would love to buy a dress from them just because they are lovely people and definately want you to have the dress of your dreams.

Hi vpb23! Tell us more! Im sure Fiona will be on soon to add you to the list :D

    Hi vpb & welocme,

Great to hear from another bride getting married abroad:D How are the plans going?

Thanks! Things are going ok so far....little limited to what I can arrange just now as have to wait until I speak to wedding co-ordination when arrive...still loads to do, paper work etc.

    What about you?

It's hard isn't it cos I feel most things are geared towards uk large weddings.

Nat I think you're more on top of things than you think :) Maybe do a couple of the other April things and take the focus off your dress for a couple of weeks? I had a big wobble in January when everything just got too much, so I took a couple of weeks to focus on other things and came back to the wedding when I felt more in control.

Your list looks good to me and the order of the day looks good as well. 2hrs "mingling" will fly by and will also give guests a chance to freshen up a bit as well before the party. For drinks, we're providing a mixture of glasses of Prosecco & bottles of lager for guests on arrival, and then a cash bar after that.

vpb welcome to the thread :hello:

Awww thanks Roz :D Feel a bit better now. Just seems like a lot to cram in over 6 months to get done. I think that dress shops and suppliers and venues actually make you worry more about getting things planned well in advance so 6 months doesnt actually seem so bad if you take a step back, as long as i get on with things now and stop putting things off! I need to make a decision though by end of April really about the dress as if I want it making, I need to give the dressmaker time. I know that If i want to order one, if worst comes to worst, i can order a "rush cut" and just pay the extra for it. ...which most dress shops dont tell you about!! A few of the good/nice ones do though, thank god for them!

Aaaahhhh. Feel better! I shouldnt run away from this thread either in future - you are all great!!! Thank you :j

    Hi,

Really must sort a to do list out, i've got things in my head that I know need doing by certain dates but should write it down. The dresses i've seen natc haven't had a homemade look to them to me, but we all have different opinions & you need to feel confident with the dressmaker & just because she can do a good job for mean does not mean they will suit your style so just best to see what you think. I will definatly get Mum to take some pics on Sat when I go:D

vpb - yes we start our paperwork process in June, have the appointment booked with the registar here to get our CNI & then it;s full on until our wedding planner in Rhodes confirms she has received it. We are very lucky because we have a great independant planner so we already have everything booked & sorted so haven't got too much to do at all. Well as it's 10th April today it means we only have 5 months to go:j:j

Hi CNI is Certificate of No Impediment, which we have to get issued by the registar over here to say we are free to marry, it's one of the document that Greece require but it may not be needed for Cyprus. We have to email ours to the planner once we have it all & she will check it's all ok. Then we have to send the orginal documents to them via the post, which is scary as Greece now insit on displaying the orignail docs in the town hall. I;m sure your planner/holiday company will be able to advise you.

Ah ok cool. We have to have an affidavit , much same idea. I wished I could just email our documents to get checked but will just have to follow the guidelines strictly and hope they are fine. I have booked mine through a travel agent so have the requirement guidelines from them.
