September 2012 Brides and Grooms

Hey all - sorry i've been a bit absent lately - very very busy with work and uni!
Today mum and I bought all of our flowers. They're wooden roses, and I absolutely love them.
We got lots of ivory, some blue/teal and various shades of gold, tan and brown to make mixed bouquets.
We also got a great deal! 290 stems, for £60!
Such a relief to have the flowers bought. We're going to have a play with them and make bouquets, corsages, buttonholes and table decorations over the next few weeks. then into black bags and safely away til september!
Mum's probably already said that we've ordered the suits too. They're complicated, with three different styles over 6 groomsmen, but this is my very quick, photoshop approximation of the groom's suit!Life on a shoestring!0 -
Welcome back Catherine! Love that suit, he'll look amazing in it I'm sure
Flowers are lovely, and the colour combo is great. They look very very well made too; wooden flowers often look a bit chunky and solid, but I wouldn't have guessed those were wooden!

Well Catherine and I had a great time buying the flowers and we had a quick play with them yesterday, they are going to look really lovely. I have ordered some extra rose leaves and some fern to add to the bouquets and then we will finish them off with organza I think. We already have some organza that we were given as free samples which we can use, so the entire bill for flowers will be less than £75:money:!
We also went through the to do list - frightened David to death as there is still so much to do! We also went through the budgets and horrors, we have already spent or committed to all but £950 of our budget!
We have costed most things so it isn't a disaster, but we still have some items to cost, namely the food and soft drinks for the wedding breakfast (alcohol already bought and stored in spare room) the alterations for the dresses plus some accessories and the usual finishing touches like more candles and possibly balloons. Think we are going to have to up the budget by £500 - not very MSE at all!0 -
booked the local village hall for the reception £95 from 5-midnight total bargin!:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

Hello everyone.
I am off ill at the moment, think i ate something on Sun night whilst out for a meal with OH that didnt agree with me, my stomach has played havoc, feel terrible. Had yesterday off, did nothing all day except sleep, and off today, still feel nauseous, its horrbile, never eating out again!
Anyway, i thought id come on here for a bit of support! Although im ill, i cant stop thinking about my wedding dress, or lack of one! Ive counted that me and my poor mum have traipsed to about 12 wedding dress shops....and still not found the one  Im getting worried now that there isnt one out there for me, and im really running out of time! I cant get on with any of the other wedding planning as im focussed on just trying to get the dress, so its holding things up too!
I though i had found the one, i loved the dress, but because its satin with an organza over lay with loads of embellishment, it puckers and looks awful, went for a 2nd try on of the dress and decided i just couldnt ignore that part of the dress, so i have forgotten about it and moved on! This is the dress http://www.morilee.com/bridals/bridal/2105
I had looked on the net and found 3 dress from Mark Lesley I liked and went to a wedding dress shop who stocks their dresses on Sat, but didnt like one dress their either! Although they didnt have the dresses there that I liked, so they have ordered them into their shop for me to try on on the 10th March, which is just lovely, but also feels like ages away! The 3 dresses are of the same kind of style as the Mori Lee one above, so now i know at least the style i like!!
They are style 302, 3038, 3045 on http://www.marklesley.co.uk/Mark-Lesley.html
Also, met up with a couple of friends on Fri night, one of them is marrying in August, a month before me and she brought the invitations with her to give to us! They were lovley aswell, made them herself with her H2B, from templates from Ebay...very MSE. but im also worried now that I havent even thought of invitations yet! They are on my list to do, but not for ages!
Am i really behind??!! I know ive done the main bits, booked church and venue, and now photographer (:D) but thats all....panicking!0 -
Hi natc,
Sorry to hear you are not well, it's horrid when you feel like that - hope you feel better soon. i'm sure you have plenty of time yet to find your perfect dress there has to be one out there. It's really good of the dress shop to order those 3 dresses in, I like a few Mark Lesley myself, the 3 you have picked all look beautiful I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. It's not long till 10th march only a week on Sat. In the mean time keep looking for ideas & see what the shops have round you. I think i'm lucky having a smaller selection with marrying abroad, on the otherhand i've designed one with the dressmaker looking at a few I liked & I keep thinking what if it does not suit me:eek: I love it on paper but they often look completly different on so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I go for my 1st sort of fitting on Sat, in that the top part the bodice will be done so will see what thats like:D
As to invites, have you sent STD's? If so people know when your wedding is so you have plenty of time to get invites out. My M & D are going to a wedding at the beginning of July & they have not had invites yet so don't panic. Big ((hugs)) to you.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
Thanks Fawny
The people in the dress shops keep saying "oooh you need to get a dress very soon then" after i tell them im marrying in Sept. Their faces seem to drop, which panicks me!
No the 10th March isnt too long in the great scheme of things, but feels like ages away when im thinking i need to pick a dress and get it ordered.
Ooooh, youre having one made! That sounds great! Hope it all goes well on Sat, how exciting!
No, i havent sent STD cards out....was going to last month, but OH thought it was a waste of money (and time), he thinks we should have sent them out a few months ago if we were going to send STD's out, and thinks it will be fine to just send invitations out as normal, a few months before....hoping so!0 -
Hi Nat, sorry to hear you're not feeling too well
Invitations usually go out 3-6 months before the wedding - I'm posting mine on 15th May (providing I've made them by then :rotfl: ) which is 4 months before so you've loads of time yet. I guess it depends on how many of your guests will need to book hotels etc. Our guests who need to make travel/hotel arrangements are all family members who I'm not overly fussed about being there... Though woe-betide anyone who declines the invite :rotfl: Bridezilla? Moi?!?

Hi natc, hope you feel better soon. Those dresses are really beautiful, I am sure one of them will be 'the one'!
We haven't got sorted on invites either yet, or sent out STDs, hope to send them out at the beginning of June I think, (but will buy stamps in March to avoid price increase)0
