Hi all, thanks for the welcome White_Sapphire. I will let you know as soon as we have a date. Due to some complications with his ex we aren't likely to be choosing a date or telling anyone (even immediate family) for the next 2 weeks at least. But I have started a proper list:
- venue
- guest list
- church
- cake
- music (ceremony)
- music (reception)
- photographer
- flowers
- wedding rings
- hairdresser
- invitations
- order of service
- cars
- accommodation for guests
- dress (me)
- dresses (bridesmaids)
- suit (groom and groomsmen)
- wedding song
- honeymoon
- hen do
- stag do
- readings for ceremony
That seems like a lot, but I can't do most of it until we've picked a day and told people. There are some things to make a start on tho - a draft guest list for example. Its a bit awkward tho, cos I have a big family I'm really close to, and he has a big family he isn't that close to. So I want my cousins there (I see them regularly and know them really well - he's met quite a few of them), but he isn't fussed about his (tho his mum will be) and his cousins are all older and married with kids. Is it okay to invite people without their children?0 -
im keeping the children number down as we just cant afford all of them, i asked my moh if she wanted to have hers there or not shes not sure but anyone elses wont be invitedI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0

Did you say flowers?! :wall: Our buttonholes arrived on Saturday and are totally beautiful (I'll post a pic tonight when I get home). I didn't get chance to actually show them to my mum but she turned her nose up when I mentioned they'd arrived and that she wouldn't be able to tell that they're not real, so I went off into huge a rant about how it is our day and that flowers aren't top of our priority list so we're not blowing the budget on them,- you don't have to in fact I'm planning on going out and gathering things from the garden like leaves bare twigs etc. so far spent £12 on decoration. that WE are paying for most of the wedding for the sole reason that it means we can do what WE want, and that if anyone else says anything we are going abroad and getting married just the two of us :rotfl:sometimes fell the same way!
I really don't know what's wrong with me at the minute though, I've felt really unsettled and down recently and OH keeps walking into rooms to find me in tears for no apparent reasonDitto sending you gig Hugs
Just wanted to ask a quick question as to kids prices on food at venues before I contact my venue. We have just had our quote and it is down as 62 afternoon teas at £13.95 each im just wonderin if I should be askin if there is a reduced rate for kids I think for adults as well almost £14 sounds a bit steep to me (they knew there was 10 kids out of the 62) as we dont think kids will eat a whole afteroon tea or is it a bit cheeky?
also do you think its advisable to try to lissen to the reident dj before you book them? definately and get a list of songs you like and don't!
bxx

Evening Ladies,
I did a fair bit more work on my dress yesterday, which was good, as the previous two sessions were massively frustrating . I have uploaded a few more photos to photobucket, if anyone wants a peek. Password is Sep2012.
It's starting to look like it will one day be an actual wedding dress! :j
Have a lovely weekend all; H2B and I are off to a friends' wedding, so much boozing and dancing to be done!

Hi Ladies - I'm back in the land of the rational (well, as rational as one can be when organising a wedding :rotfl:). Thank you so much for all your wishes, you're all amazing :grouphug:
I've managed to renegotiate a couple of things at work which were stressing me out, and I've seen both of my little sisters which has cheered me up - had a really nice evening with the teenage pregnant one who I haven't seen since Xmas when she dropped the bombshell, though I think the enormity of everything has started to hit her and she got a bit upset but we had a good chat & sorted things out between the two of us.
I've been a complete pig though whilst I've been feeling down and feel like I've put back on at least half of the 9lbs I've lost...Off to Edinburgh for a few days on Friday though (Xmas pressie from OH) so I think I'll miss my weigh-in this week, hit the salads hard, and weigh again in a few weeks...
I've delegated a couple of wedding jobs - simple things like booking the car - I had been in touch with several companies for quotes and even chosen which one to go with but never seemed to have time to actually book it... So I'm letting people "help" without losing any of the total OCD control of every single detail :rotfl:
The only things left to do for me until the end of March (according to my list) are order the materials for the invitations & order the wedding rings, both quite nice jobs, though I may also slip into my April list and start looking at readings & music for the ceremony... Though OH has a few things left to do and needs to get his bum in gear!!! He's been so terrible at organising his stag that a few of the guys from his ice hockey team have taken over the organising  I think they're planning on Riga as apparently "the flights, food, beer and women are cheap" Luckily I've got bribery material on all of the boys involved so should be able to "persuade" them to keep it relatively calm - last time they all went out together I was woken up at 5am by them all climbing into my house half naked through the conservatory window :rotfl:
Thanks again for all your support - I really and truly appreciate it. I still feel a bit emotionally frail but things are much more under control (i.e. I've been able to keep my crying fits hidden from OH!!!) xxx0 -
Welcome to the newbies & lurkers - sounds like you're both pretty well on top of things!
White Sapphire your dress is coming on beautifully
Scotsbride, your plans are coming along nicely tooI'm getting my hair coloured next week to see if I like it. My hairdresser said now's the time to experiment as everything will "fix" before the wedding if I hate it. I'm the same as you for flowers & wedding decs, I'd much prefer natural & home-grown stuff... Compromising on a mixture - I am making/growing the venue decor, I have bought foam buttonholes for all ceremony guests (only 14), and the compromise is that my mum is organising a real flower bouquet.
Fawny, where are your charms from?
Sorry to anyone I've missed, and hugs to anyone in need! xx
PS. Anybody else feel like they're in the middle of a baby boom? NINE of my friends are pregnant, all due July/August/early Sept!!0 -

Glad you're feeling better hun! You do seem to have been through it a bit, what with stressful job and teenage pregnancies  I hope your sister is OK as well, now that the initial excitement and unreality have worn off.

Stress causes bloating, so some of it will probably just be that. Edinburgh is a beautiful city, you'll have an amazing time there. I went years ago, but with the wrong person so it wasn't as good as it should have been! I'd love to go again.

You sound like you're well on top of things again, unlike me who is gradually slipping behind schedule! I've still got stuff to do I intended to do in December... :rotfl: None of it is particularly time-critical though, although there are still a couple of things that need to be booked soonish. So as long as I know what needs doing and roughly in what order I'm not too worried at this stage. Although I do wish people would stop saying things like "I wish Spring would hurry up", "roll on Summer", etc - stop wishing the year away! Don't people realise I have a To Do list to get through??? :rotfl:Welcome to the newbies & lurkers - sounds like you're both pretty well on top of things!

Thank you! More photos at the end of next week I hope...

Ditto. My parents and I are growing all the wedding flowers between us; I have sweet peas sprouting on the stairs (not literally; they're in containers, honest!!) ready to be planted out when it's warm enough, Mum and Dad have two pots of maidenhair fern in their bathroom, and at some point in the summer I will be doing an Ikea run for orchid plants. Plus fake orchids for the buttonholes and possibly the cake. So much cheaper and much more fun than a florist! Fortunately my mum is a very good amateur flower arranger, which helps!

Hi Ladies,
Lookie Lookie what I have just found for all you needing champagne
http://www.marksandspencer.com/Charles-Freminet-Brut-Champagne-NV/dp/B004YCVX06
Works out at £11.25 per bottle when you buy 2 cases which is £135
I've ordered my flowers so they're just being made. 5-6 weeks wait though. Petticoat arrived and adds a bit more volume to the dress, but I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Tried the dress on myself when the petticoat arrived and I think i've been eating too many pies :rotfl: OH's 3 ties have been ordered. And I've finally paid the photographer her deposit.
Still left to do:- Bridesmaid Dresses
- Flowergirl Dresses
- OH Suit (He's decided, just needs to get the money from a job he did to buy it)
- Pay Wedding Venue (£1500 but not til end of August)
- Got to make the invite pocket folds (Invitations are designed just need to be printed)
- Got to make the Cake (Going to do a dummy run sometime soon)
- hairdresser & Makeup artist (Still got to find someone as I am rubbish at makeup as I neever wear it)
- Book the Honeymoon (Found the perfect place, but as it's £3k we have to wait until the actual wedding and see how much we get as presents then book it for Half term october 2012)
- Stag do Is in OH BMs hands. (Apparently he is being stripped and clingfilmed to a lamp post in london :rotfl:)
- Hen do is in my BMs hands (Still fighting that I want to go out in the local town and not the local seaside resort
)
Anything I've missed of Ladies that you can see? What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -

neneromanova - Where's your honeymoon? We're in the same position about not booking until after the wedding as we're relying on "donations", so we're delaying our real honeymoon until May 2013 (which will also give us something to look forward to after it's all over), but going away for a few days straight after the wedding, probably to Iceland as it's somewhere OH & I both want to go (and believe me, there aren't many places in the world which satisfy that requirement!! We often go away seperately because we want such different things!).
You seem really on top of things though - your list is lovely & concise!!0
