LOL Roz! Well as your sig says....bidezilla in training!
Awwww I feel so much better about the invites now, thanks Roz and Debbieonly got a couple who may need hotel, everyone else lives pretty local.
Very MSE Debbie, I wouldnt have thought about the postage price increase...very good!
Thanks for the get well wishes, im just drinking ginger tea as i (cyber) speak to help the nausea.0 -
Hello everyone.
I am off ill at the moment, think i ate something on Sun night whilst out for a meal with OH that didnt agree with me, my stomach has played havoc, feel terrible. Had yesterday off, did nothing all day except sleep, and off today, still feel nauseous, its horrbile, never eating out again!
Anyway, i thought id come on here for a bit of support! Although im ill, i cant stop thinking about my wedding dress, or lack of one! Ive counted that me and my poor mum have traipsed to about 12 wedding dress shops....and still not found the one  Im getting worried now that there isnt one out there for me, and im really running out of time! I cant get on with any of the other wedding planning as im focussed on just trying to get the dress, so its holding things up too!
I though i had found the one, i loved the dress, but because its satin with an organza over lay with loads of embellishment, it puckers and looks awful, went for a 2nd try on of the dress and decided i just couldnt ignore that part of the dress, so i have forgotten about it and moved on! This is the dress http://www.morilee.com/bridals/bridal/2105
I had looked on the net and found 3 dress from Mark Lesley I liked and went to a wedding dress shop who stocks their dresses on Sat, but didnt like one dress their either! Although they didnt have the dresses there that I liked, so they have ordered them into their shop for me to try on on the 10th March, which is just lovely, but also feels like ages away! The 3 dresses are of the same kind of style as the Mori Lee one above, so now i know at least the style i like!!
They are style 302, 3038, 3045 on http://www.marklesley.co.uk/Mark-Lesley.html
Also, met up with a couple of friends on Fri night, one of them is marrying in August, a month before me and she brought the invitations with her to give to us! They were lovley aswell, made them herself with her H2B, from templates from Ebay...very MSE. but im also worried now that I havent even thought of invitations yet! They are on my list to do, but not for ages!
Am i really behind??!! I know ive done the main bits, booked church and venue, and now photographer (:D) but thats all....panicking!
Hope you're feeling better now Natalie? Food poisoning is hell; the last time I had it it was about three days before I felt human again!
I'm sorry the dress hunt hasn't been going so well; you do still have time, and 10th March is not long. That is very good of the dress shop to order those three dresses in for you. Fingers and toes crossed for you that one of them is right for you!Debbiecatal wrote: »Hi natc, hope you feel better soon. Those dresses are really beautiful, I am sure one of them will be 'the one'!
We haven't got sorted on invites either yet, or sent out STDs, hope to send them out at the beginning of June I think, (but will buy stamps in March to avoid price increase)
Love the new avatar Debbie! As for invites, we're sending ours at the beginning of May, but have made sure that everyone knows the date already, so that they can keep it free. As for booking hotels, it won't be peak season so if people start booking in June there should be plenty of places to choose from. You could always give a pre-invite-heads-up to the people who will need to book a room, to let them know the venue and maybe a couple of hotels nearby.
I think I may have found another way to do the invites, but still in the design that I want. My initial plan used spray-paint and a stencil, but it just seems to bleed through and create a blobby mess! But (with a big hurrah for Pinterest :T) I think I might now be able to silkscreen the design. Basically, you attach some silk to an embroidery hoop, and cut the design you want out of sticky back plastic, which is then stuck to the silk. Place it over the item you want to print, then scrape the paint over the screen - a credit card works well for that, apparently.
Shopping list for the creation of yet more wedding-based mess is sticky-back plastic and paint. Eee, quite excited!!I'll take pics and let you all know how it goes...

Wow Fiona that sounds incredible, I wouldn't even begin to attempt silk screen printing, they will look amazing!0

Thanks Debbie! I've never tried it before, so god knows how many attempts it'll take!!
I'll have to make sure I have cleaning products and a calming cup of tea on standby...

Thanks Fiona, im much better than yesterday, still very quesy, its a horrible feeling
I know its not far away, but even OH is panicking, keeps trying to get me to look at more wedding dresses and book more appts. He never panicks...thats why im panicking! LOL I just want to find my dress now. It seems that wedding dresses have consumed the last 2 months of my life! I have everything crossed too Fiona, thank you
Your invitations sound very intriguing, looking forward to seeing them.0 -
*hugs for Natc* - don't worry, there's still time to find 'the one' - just keep your mind open and try on, try on, try on! I was really surprised by the dress I fell in love with, as it wasn't what I was 'expecting' to choose, but I tried it on at the suggestion of the shop lady and it was just... gorgeous! Don't rule anyting out out of hand, just keep trying stuff and the thunderbolt will strike!
White_Sapphire: you're such an inspiration! Your posts always make me feel really creative and adventurous. Right now I really want to get home and start playing with making bouquets!
Invitations are our next big worry. One of my best friends is a professional graphic designer, and her wedding present to us is our invitations, but I really need to check on progress! She's based in the States too, so we can't leave it too long. Eeep!
Tonight I was supposed to be writing an essay for uni (on the physics and signal processing behind the method of determining cardiac output via lithium dilution - yawn!) and so, of course I was procrastinating by looking at wedding rings online with my OH - and I bought them! So excited! We went for a matching set with a little bit of bling:Life on a shoestring!0 -
Catherine;
Thank you!! Beautiful rings; it's lovely that you managed to find a matching pair you both love.
So, yesterday, which was exactly six months before the wedding  *and BREEEEAATHE*, I got some more work done on the dress. TBH, my mum did most of it, because we spent almost the entire day on one dratted seam!!! Which mostly meant me standing still while Mum pinned, and repinned, and repinned! The fabric does not want to sit still and behave while being pinned or sewn, because it's so drapey! I managed to sew the shoulder seams, which weren't too bad, but the side seam has been pinned and tacked (sewn roughly to hold in place) so many times and we couldn't get the *CENSORED* thing straight!! We think we've finally got it now; it's the photo on my photobucket album entitled "pain in the a:eek::mad:e"...

I'm going to have a go at the silk screen printing this weekend; wish me luck!!

Thank you for the hugs Catherine, really needed them and is appreciated!
Looking again tonight at dresses online at more shops i havent been to yet, and a close friend said she would come with me and help me to choose a dress if I wanted her to...which was lovely. I had initially just wanted my mum to come with me, which she has been doing, but it might give mum a break (!) and me a kick up the bum!
Love the rings Catherine, they are lovely and very romantic to have them matching
I think its really nice that you and your mum are making your dress together, so special.0 -
Yay! Mum and I got together today and made up the buttonholes, corsages, and bouquets!
I've got some very bad cameraphone snaps:
Buttonholes
Bridesmaid's bouquet
My bouquet! (it still needs a teal ribbon and some bling)
Lots of flowers!Life on a shoestring!0 -
Catherine your flowers are gorgeous, well done! And your rings are lovely too
That's one of our March jobs, along with ordering all the bits to make the invitations with and sorting hotels. OH has a contact at the local Holiday Inn who has agreed to be "guest liaison" so I think we're going to be taking up 20 or so rooms there and means we don't have to worry about getting money etc from people, they can just book with her directly. It's only a 2min taxi ride from the venue as well so perfect really
We've also managed to get my dad to agree to wear something we all like - I've had to compromise on the pink tie and nothing else in our wedding is silver, but anyway... OH is organising fittings etc for them all soon (just waiting for a date they & the shop can all do)
I found this picture the other day of a lady in my wedding dress (well, the same dress as me, not mine :rotfl:) and it's thrown my hair plans in to cahoots! I was going to go half up half down with no veil but she looks soooo lovely with hair up and veil...
I love seeing this pic, as it reminds me that I can still look "Bridal" in a high street dress, which I've been worrying about quite a bit...0
