make sure he's sitting down when you get the list out
:rotfl: Haven't got round to it - we've just been lazing on the sofa drinking beer and watching telly, so will do it tomorrow
Men eh?! If it was them organising the weddings then this thread probably wouldn't even exist until 31/8/12! :rotfl:
My best friend had her little boy yesterday so I've been bawling in happiness and staring at the pics all day. Think it's too early to ask her about my wedding cake yet?! :rotfl:
Congrats to your friend!! :TFor hair ideas look at Pinterest - I have a few hair idea pics on there and I know White Sapphire does too
Hell yes!!You don't have to be a member to browse pictures on Pinterest (I don't think you do, anyway), and there are loads of good ideas. I started on Pinterest to get a few ideas for the wedding, and it's now got a little out of hand...

Wowsers!!! I have finally read through and got upto date with the thread! :rotfl: Taken me ages, i was reading bits here and there and then tonight I thought, right, going to read it all until ive got to the end! So here i am!
Thanks for "welcome backs" earlier in the thread.
Yep....time is definately flying by, and seems like someone upstairs is speeding it up on purpose!!
Well, recently I have been panicking a little, had a few of those scary, horrible wedding nightmares. Had one the other night that the car I booked didnt turn up so had to rush around trying to get to the church, and wearing a wedding dress that i only half heartedly liked, and got to the venue and there was no food as i hadnt got in touch with the venue to let them know numbers of guests and what we would like, and then there was no DJ as i didnt book them either!!!! NIGHTMARE!!!!!!
Update as to where i am so far....I started looking at dresses around October last year, have tried LOADS on at about 4 - 5 different shops. Couldnt find any I liked, except for one at a shop that has really bad reviews on google, and I know of people who have had bad experiences with the shop, so wouldnt buy a dress from there, even if it was "the one" And another dress i liked at another shop but it crinkles around my torso which nothing can be done about it apparently, even if it was 2 sizes too big...so, gutted about that, but obviously that isnt the one either.
Decided to leave all wedding planning until after christmas...far too much Christmassy things to do but now panicking that i have so much to do, so little time, and dont know where to start!!!
I have a spreadsheet, Im like the spreadsheet Queen (!!!), but its not the same as a to do list so i decided today to make up a "wedding file" with sections for everything! Put all my venue correspondance in one part, honeymoon quotes in another, dress ideas in another, photograper contacts in another etc, and im going to write out a "to do" list to put at the front, with monthly tasks! Feel better already for just having a plan! Ive even sorted out my bookmarks into a "wedding file" so everything is in its place!!! :T
So far I have -
Booked the Church - (need to confirm the time and pay)
Booked the Venue - (paid deposit, need to confirm guests and food at a later date, so far decided on an afternoon tea and bucks fizz reception, and pie and peas in the evening!!! Although not just "pie and peas" but will be having chilli, jacket taties, maybe hot dogs etc for kids)
That is it.....nothing else booked...can feel another panck attack coming on!!!
In progress -
May have a DJ/Singer - going to see her do a gig to see if we like her. Shes very reasonable compared to other prices ive seen on here for just a DJ - £350!! But ive found her through a friend and she said we would give me a discount as she lives close to our venueIve found a link on You tube for her...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhh9SIubxCI She does 50's upto present music, and also DJs which is best of both worlds.
Seen/Seeing some photgraphers - Seen one so far, wasnt too bothered for her style, and she admitted she wasnt a wedding photographer, normally does studio work, and only did 6 weddings last year...seeing another lady (her new site isnt finished yet) next week, sounds lovely and charges at the most £750, which would be in our budget.
Been looking at wedding rings - Both OH and I know what rings we are having... is it normal for bride and groom to have different rings? I want an 18ct flat court ring and OH wants a palladium ring like this
Wedding dress - got 2 appointments at very promising wedding dress shops next Thursday...fingers crossesAnyone else struggling to find THE dress? Worried!
Honeymoon - OH really wanted to go to Thailand but its just not me, doesnt appeal at all. But weve spoken to a couple of travel agents and seems like Mexico, Riviera Maya is coming up trumps, best for both if us- Caribbean Coast, lovely beaches, 5* hotel, and able to venture outside the hotel. Maldives just doesnt appeal to either of us, being able to walk around the island in 20 mins, quite scary actually! But this Mexico honeymoon is coming up at £4k!!! EEEK, nearly as much as our wedding. What are you all spending on yours, and where are you going? Like you White_Sapphire, i like Croatia...and also Italy, Mexico wasnt on my radar!
Cake - Stepmums work colleague (she works at a college, and her friend is a bakery teacher!) may do this for me, or one of her students, stepmum is going to ask her.
Sorry this is soooo long, ive not been on in ages so felt i had to spurt everything out! LOL
Sounds like everyone else is coming along just great.
Hello, by the way to all my same date fellow MSEers!0 -
Blooming heck, knew my reply was rather large...but looks even longer now ive posted it! So sorry!!!!0

natc - I'm a July bride but lurk here sometimes
Don't worry about finding The Dress - it took me AGES (like 20 shops) and I worried too, but I eventually found it! Just ordered it last month! Keep looking and take as long as you need. Have faith!

Ive booked my photographer today, the first one we have seen, and he was really canny! £350 for all the photos on disc, we are gonna sort out albums n stuff ourselves.
\i had a get together for my bridesmaids to get to know each other, in conjunction with wine tasting....we didnt come to any conclusion, but had a good laugh!!
Bought all my flowers from dainty supplies in washington.
Here is some before and after shots.
I hope you think mine looks better!!
i think this is the final version of the bridesmaids bouquet, but i dont know if i need to put more purple in!
I cant wait to get my invitations sent out!0 -
Well done on getting yourself organised natc!! It feels so much better when you know what needs doing, even if it's rather a lot... Well, you may be the Spreadsheet Queen, but I am the To Do List Queen!!
I've got a main list divided by month, then smaller lists, one each for my Wedding Planning Folder's dividers! That way I can see what still needs doing for each aspect of the wedding so I can prioritise if needs be. That, and I was really bored one afternoon and didn't feel like doing what I should have been doing
You've got the vital stuff done, and the next most important things are clearly in hand, so don't panic! The DJ and singer sounds fab, I'd love a bit of live music! I really hope her gig shows that she's what you're looking for.
First photographer definitely doesn't sound right, I hope this other lady is good. You have a very good budget for a photographer so even if she isn't, you still have plenty of time to find another.
Ny H2B and I are having very different rings; mine is 9ct gold with a twist to fit round my engagement ring, and his is a stone ring made from tiger's eye and black jasper.
Re dress; as wanchai says, have faith! The dresses you have tried on simply weren't right (even if they came close), so forget them. You have appointments booked, and still lots of time to order and have alterations. Fingers crossed for you for Thursday.
I would love to go to Mexico! It's on my ever-lengthening list of places to visit.H2B and I decided on relatively short haul, for cost and post-wedding-exhaustion reasons, plus the weather in Southern Europe is very good in September. So Montenegro it is, although we're flying into Croatia as it's easier to get direct flights there, and will spend our last night in Dubrovnik.
Cake plans sound fab! Any idea on flavour and decorations yet?

Congrats on booking the photographer! :T That was a great idea to get all your bms together to bond; it'll make such a difference on the day!
What website are you using to upload your photos? Cos I can't see themPhotobucket is a good one.
Still haven't done my invites yet; I did a prototype but it went wrong, so I need to rethink things a little...

Sounds like you getting on top of things natc, at least you have spreadsheets so you know what needs doing:D
t*ovi can see the pics on your link the flowers look lovely:D
I would normally be out at dog training now but it's off because of the snow, so sat here stuffing with football overload as H2B watches far too much. My BM is a massive Liverpool fan & H2B is Man United, there is always matches on when we are in Rhodes in Sept but i'm hoping not too many this year as I know both of them will be wanting to watch them, really hope they don't schedule Liv against Manu while we are there ... thinking of writing to the FA for when they do the schedule do you think they will listen:rotfl:Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -

Thank you wanchai, made me feel better. I feel liked ive tried 100 dresses on and not found any i really really like. Just the one, which is crinkly where it shouldnt be, which is the closest ive really liked.
Thanks White_Sapphire you are totally right. Im going to just forget what I have seen and move on
Been to a wedding fayre today. A few companies didnt turn up due to the snow, but there was still quite a few there, including a couple of wedding dress stalls. One of which I havent looked at before, spoke to the ladies and they were very positive. They stock in designer dresses, but also make them from scratch, but think that service would be over my budget...! Made an appt with them anyway for next week. So thats another 3 shops to try out, feeling much better.
Thanks for the feedback about the rings aswell. OH really not keen on Yellow Gold, and wants a matt finish on his ring. We saw 4 jewellers at the fayre today aswell, 2 of which really liked, and both offer a 10% discount for going to the fayre.
Oooh your OHs ring is going to be lovely, very exotic sounding!
Also saw a couple of photographers we liked at reasonable pricesso more leaflets and info to put in my new folder!
Is anyone just considering getting their photos just on DVD? A lot of the photographers ive seen online and at the fayre today only do the books, not the traditional albums, so was thinnking that could just get the DVD of photos and do my own album??
Your honeymoon sounds fantastic White_Sapphire.0 -
Thank you wanchai

You may not have found any that were right, but I bet that you have a better idea of what styles suit you and what level of embellishment you want. That'll be useful in narrowing down your selection at your appointments.

Made to order isn't necessarily the most expensive option; it can often be cheaper than a lot of designer dresses, so don't rule it out offhand.

Our photography package includes the photos on CD, with permission to print. We'll do our own album; cheaper that way!
Your honeymoon sounds fantastic White_Sapphire.I think I'm looking forward to the Honeymoon even more than the wedding!! We haven't had a proper holiday, for a decent length of time, with just us two, for ages... Oh, to answer your previous question re cost of Honeymoon, ours is budgeted at £2k; more with guest contributions which we will use to upgrade to do more activities and have a couple of posh meals.
