Lizbristol, I'd second others' suggestions of contacting Oasis too see if they have any "lying about", but I went to a wedding last year where two bridesmaids had one style and the other two had complementing and it looked stunning.

Debbiecatal, well done on reaching the half way mark :j

T*ovi, love the shoes! Bargain on the flowers too :) no idea re. M&S wine though I'm afraid...

tryingtobetheperfectHW, we've loads of time yet *buries head back in sand*

nenaromanova, well done on the photographer bargain :money: make sure you trust him/her 100% though, it's really important that you're comfortable with them as it WILL show in the pictures

    OK, progress!!

Chair covers organised - meeting with the lady in the next few weeks to choose the sash colour but deposit is paid and booking form sent off.

Buttonholes ordered - 14 single and 1 double ivory foam roses with ivy & pearl & diamant! detail for £16.49 :money:

Suits... my dad is refusing to wear a suit of my/OHs choosing... Says he's too old to be dressed up  Grrrr, I don't really care if the dads & OH are matching but it's the ONE THING that OH has expressed an opinion on wanting, and we're only having plain grey suits with white shirt & pale pink tie; not like I'm forcing him in to top hat & tails...
  • Hey ladies not caught up yet will go away and read!

Isn't time marching on though?! Our invites have started and bought a load of other bits and bobs to keep me busy too :)

  • Hi all,

I'm new to the thread-me and OH get married on 28th Sept!! :j

I think I'm fairly organised-venue (package inc ceremony, reception, wedding breakfast, DJ, reception food) booked, dress ordered, cake ordered, DIY stationary designed, save the date emails sent...

My 'to do' items for this this month are to book a photographer (we have been recommended someone but just waiting for OH to get back from London where's he's working so we can book an appointment), sort bridesmaids dresses and to sort or at least have a better idea of flowers.

My major headache is with bridesmaids dresses! I'm having two bridesmaids; my sister (33yr) and OH's niece (10yr) and am looking for something simple-knee length-ish, in mocha or chocolate (nothing organised so far is set in stone colour wise so am flexible here as long as it's a shade of brown). We are on a tight budget and it's driving me mad how much bridal shops charge for bridesmaids dresses-we really can't afford to spend a couple of hundred pound on them-grrrr!

I'm currently considering buying from the internet and wondered whether anyone has had experience with Dailyshop.com? I've found a 10% discount code as well so the dress I'm looking at (can't put a link on as new to forum-good spam control ML!!) would be £25. Part of me is thinking that for the cost it's worth the risk but I would prefer to hear some reviews first-I can't seem to find anything reliable online...

Another option is to use huiyunkitty-a lady based in Birmingham who has a shop on eBay. I've seen some positive things about this lady online-has anyone here used her?

If anyone has any tips on where to get reasonably priced bridesmaids dresses or experience of ordering online-I'd really love to hear from you!!

    Many thanks-happy planning everyone!!
  • Hi ladies! I haven't been on here in a few days, so need to catch up on the thread! I will go back and do that in a bit.

Welcome meechly! :hello: You've been added to the list on the first post; the first bride for the 28th :D

You've certainly got all the main bits done, and are definitely more organised than I am. Re bridesmaids' dresses, I haven't heard of either of those companies, but hopefully someone else can help. Another option might be to get normal party/occasion dresses on the high street, although you do run the small risk of a guest turning up in the same dress! Or, try preloved or ebay for second hand dresses. Hope you find something soon! We're also having bridesmaid dress issues, in that we can't find the fabric we want! Not panicking about it yet...

I did some more work on my dress yesterday, photos here: http://photobucket.com/whitesapphire81 password Sep2012. I got some beautiful veil fabric a while ago, and it seemed to go with my dress fabric BUT I have found out it only matches in certain lights!! So it's back to searching I go... luckily I got the fabric very cheaply so can hopefully make most of my money back on ebay.

Right, I'm off to catch up on all the news I've missed....

I bought a basic bridesmaid bouquet to have a go with myself, I spoke to the woman in there and she said she would charge £10 to do the bridesmaid bouquet! 25441412daeb44dfd656069db954e54b99c6775d9290c7f4ff5b9dbf0864b809ed6db3a0.jpg
i took out the little wired ribbons, bought some purple flowers and some flower crystals, i really like the crystals so i bought a whole load off ebay quite cheap, im going to put purple in the white flowers and clear crystals in the purple flowers, then do the handle with purple or black ribbon.
There was lots of pretty things!
I think im going to buy the basic teardrop bouquet and see what i can do with that once ive perfected the bridesmaids!

Ooh, I hadn't heard of dainty supplies before, I'll have to look them up for buttonholes, corsages and other prettiness! :T

They certainly sell sparkling rose, but I don't think they do anything darker than that - not heard of it, tbh! Sorry.

Well done on the progress Roz!

Why doesn't your Dad want to wear a suit? Have you asked him what he expects to wear? Seems a bit of an odd thing for him to have an issue with! Hope you get it sorted - could your mum have a word with him?

Lizbristol - any news from Oasis on bridesmaids' dresses?

Hi! My daughter got her dresses from the ebay shop, Littlewoodsreturns, but they don't have any brown shades at the moment, I just checked. Might be worth checking regularly though, they really are very cheap and great quality!.

We might not be going with those now, however due to a bit of a hissy fit from one of the bridesmaids and if we don't we are definitely using huiyunkitty. There are many mentions of her shop on various threads on this site, worth doing a search to look at them. The comments are generally really good about quality, the only issues people seem to have flagged are sizing not always being right (this could be bad measuring by the recipient - all you need is for a tape measure to have stretched through age and it isn't right) and that she is slow.

If we use her we hope to overcome both of these by going to her shop and having her measure up the bridesmaids, and ordering 6 months in advance.

Good luck, looking forward to hearing more about your plans.

  • Stuck with bm dresses too! changed my mind that many times about colour now figure I go for what I like and can afford. Tip for anyone looking at BM dresses don't forget to check out regular high street shops for dresses. i mean normal dresses can also work as BM dresses too
