Roz_V, I love your venue, I'm so jealous! I'd love a barn reception, but there are none round here that do weddings!

I didn't think there were any around here until I heard of this place. I actually discovered it because a band that use it as a rehearsal venue were on the local news one evening and I said "Ooooh that looks nice" and did some GoogleStalking of the band to find out where it was :rotfl:0 -
I'm going to Bristol for my hen :j:j It's a loooong way for us (we're all travelling from either Sheffield or Manchester) but I'm sooooo excited! The package includes two nights at a 4* hotel (& cooked breakfast both mornings, I suspect this will be needed!), 2hr Cocktail making on the Friday night inc. a buffet, spa day inc. one treatment on the Saturday, then a 3 course meal on the Saturday night. You Bristol ladies will have to let me know where is best for further drinks on the Friday (fairly low-key & classy) and the Saturday (tacky & drunken!) :rotfl:
Sounds fab! :T As for drinking places, I'll have a think about that; there are a couple of local pubs I go to, but don't do 'going out' that much anymore, so am a bit out of touch. Having said that, there is a small chain of cafe bars in Bristol called Lounge; each one has its own name, so Deco Lounge, Tinto Lounge, etc. They're really nice places, and do everything from breakfast, coffee and cake, evening meal, and general booze. So if there's one near where you're staying that might be a possibility for the Friday.
Can't wait to see the latest dress pics Sapphire
Jo, sounds like you've got quite a few things sorted!
Neneromanova, You're my date twinEeeek it's getting close now! 293 days...
My task for today: Chair Covers... Don't really want them but the venue chairs are hideous!! It wasn't really a wedding venue when we first discovered it, but it's been taken over and the new managers are pushing it. They've just put a website up for anyone who wants to nosy, it's here - no gatecrashers on the day though please:rotfl:
What a gorgeous barn! I wanted one as well, but all the ones near me charge extortionate prices! I don't think the chairs are too bad, tbh - not great, but depends whether it's important enough to you to spend money on chair covers. They do look better covered though, it has to be said!
OK, so here's my dress update:
We finished the mock up yesterday (didn't need as much tweaking as I thought it would), and have now CUT OUT THE ACTUAL FABRIC!!! Which was actually quite scary, cos I was terrified of making a mistake
So we are way ahead of schedule, which is nice cos I'm running behind on everything else!! Unfortunately I have no photos to show at the moment, as I forgot to take my camera with me  but I did take photos on Mum's camera, which I'll upload asap.
Hope everyone is well!
x
EDIT: Forgot to mention, my veil fabric came yesterday - it's stunning!!!!! Not working today so might make my veil - photos to follow!Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Eeeek exciting about the dress and veil!!! Can't wait to see the pictures! :j:j
The chair covers will cost £245 (100 chairs @ £2.45ea) so it is a lot, but we won't really be decorating the venue much as the stone & oak are so lovely as it is, all we'll be adding are table centrepieces & the odd bit of ivy etc. I think it's probably worth spending it because of the difference it makes to the room.0 -

That is so beautiful!0 -
We have now got all the wine for the wedding - really pleased! I already had the red wine from my clubcard points so just rose and white to go. I bought 12 bottles of Blossom Hill Zinfandel Rose from Sainsburys on Saturday in their 25% off sale, and I was going to wait to get the white wine. My Kindle broke down, however and they sent me a new one. In the package was a voucher for £60 off a Laithwaites box, so I got 15 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc for £50! Just the sparkly stuff to go now - waiting for the next issue of clubcard points...
Also we are going to the venue on 21st to measure it up and get an inventory of kitchen stuff etc so we will know what to hire - getting real again now!0 -
Lovely dress Scotsbride!
Well done on purchasing so much booze Debbie! It certainly is starting to get real now, and I SWEAR that time is actually speeding up
On my To Do list for Jan - March is:
- Book Honeymoon - a few things to sort out and check first
- Book transport for wedding party, and infirm guests between venues
- Research all options for travel and accommodation for guests
- Sow sweetpea flowers
- Sort out cake - who is making which tier, flavours etc. Design pretty much sorted
- Book DJ
- Make invites
- Decide on gift list
- Sort H2B's suit & ring
- Visit venues again to measure up for outside decorations
- Start writing the ceremony
How is everyone else getting on?
