I decided I wanted the Sky+ box so I rung Sky and said I wanted to cancel, I said that I was working long hours and tended to miss all the things I wanted to watch. She said it sounded like I could do with Sky+, I said "what's that". She then tried to sell me the benefits, I agreed and said it sounded just what we needed, but probably expensive. She said "as you've being a customer for a long time we can offer it to you for £40 including installation". I said, "sorry, really can't afford that much right now, think I will just have to cancel and rethink it all again in a few months". She said, "how about if I could arrange for you to have it for free". So I was very happy, they installed a new box the following week. Today I rung up to cancel the Movies Channel and the Sports Channels as we had them on special offer for three months at £1.00. They have just offered me them for an extra £9 per month for the next three months. Decided it would be worth it so have agreed.
When I first rung I thought the worse that can happen is I lose Sky for a few months, might not be a bad thing. The best would be they offer me something for nothing. So all in all would say go for it as there isn't much to loose.0 -

Do it for him. Some times they'll let you do it so long as you know all the passwords and other times they'll just speak to the account owner, confirm the stuff and then be alright to be passed back to you.
I did all my mums when I was sorting hers out - everytime I said I wasn't the account holder but I knew the details or was happy to pass them over to confirm it and they were fine.0 -
Had to phone customer services@ 5p/min (may be cheaper on saynoto0870 website or ?18518? or 18866;01506 number no longer works) but followed menu to change package option. Told them I'd had to finish work through ill health, (didn't say that was in 1992) and was finding things a bit tight but didn't want to change my package (everything except the sport @ £38/mth).
They said that there was a special offer for 3mths @£25 and because I'd already paid up front by direct debit next month would be only £18. Told I could phone again on (date 3mths from today) and change package again. Don't know if I can get a discount again, or be asked to remove channels but i'll have saved £46 by then regardless.

We have a sky+ box and are currently paying £38/month - will we be able to downgrade to the £15 package, or do you have to pay more for the 'plus' part?0

This lot must be in a good mood on Sundays.
Just rang them as I am looking to downgrade and also want o use their broadband as Virgin are a bunch of to55ers. Bloke said he would reduce my bill by £15 for the next 3 months and that broadband would cost me £5 a month. I've already rung BT and they will reconnect my line free of charge and then it will be £11.75 a month with free evening and weekend calls. Result is that Virgin were charging me £30 a month for phone and broadband so I'm looking forward to ringing them an telling them to shove it.0 -
Can anyone help with the cancellation procedure on Virgin?
They have to give me a mac number.
How do they bill, it looks to me like they charge you a month in advance anyone know if this is the case?
How long notice do I need to give them. They told me when I tried to cancel last week that they won't even discuss it until any bills are paid in full.0 -
When I called to quit my sports package (as I was working away)a few months Sky tried to do the 1/2 price thing and I refused. Then when I got back, I got a leaflet for 1 months free sports which I accepted.
After this I called to quit it again and was offered the 3 months 1/2 price deal which I accepted. Upon ceasation of this deal, I called Sky to quit again. The guy on the phone stated that as I had already been on a special deal within the last 6 months, he couldnt offer me another.
So the timescale for any deal you may be "entitled" to seems to be 6 months.John

It's worth going onto the Sky website and checking out the packages - esp ifyou have Sports or Movies and have been with them a while.
When we first signed up you had to accept all the dross before you could even get Sports or Movies and now they've split it all down into about 6 entertainment packages, so you can cancel kids, music or documentaries etc., if you don't watch those. It might save £2 or £3 a month, but worth it and something they haven't publicised - wonder why not :rotfl:0 -

Think you have to be on a package of a certain value of maybe £30+ to receive SKY+ for free otherwise they apparantly charge £10 per month for you to the the SKY+ facilities.
This used to be the case, not 100% sure if this still applies0 -
